Thank you for that. I've never tried Always Fan and might give it a shot.
I never really saw the NTS with Always Fan not sure if there is another way to get on the NTS path but felt like it started to dark. I was afraid how dark it could get if the first 30 minutes you can be such an asshole
Yeah, like I always worry why the "dark path" in games is so attractive.....anyone would think the dev is one twisted mofo
I think AlwaysFan can go pretty dark but it requires a lot of doubling down on being an asshole with the FMC. I came late to the "party", only after the game was flagged as completed (there was an update since, but I think it was more of a hotfix). Spoilers ahead, can't be arsed to go through it all and properly tag, so consider this the last warning

It's perfectly possible to play a love+sharing route and I found it satisfying. The "twist" is that you have to roleplay a bit like someone who doesn't care about Emily from the start, but being himself on a tight rope, wants her to pull her own weight, and pushes her towards escorting. Even if you do that, the author put in a lot of off-ramps so you can go back to the love/no sharing path - and that's where I personally think they made it a bit confusing, because it's not obvious the point at which accepting a relationship with Emilie will bring you onto the girlfriend sharing path and not to the non-sharing/harem path.

More than the kink of pimping out your gf, the girlfriend+sharing path is interesting because of how the characters progress - while your MC is busy making asshole decisions, Emily never stops justifying your treatment of her and dreaming about you loving her. When you finally tell her you do, and introduce her to your friends as your girlfriend, it's like her patience and quiet dedication were vindicated. Think what you may of how undeserved this feels, it's rare to find a game where the FMC seduces the MC, and not the other way around (in the love/no-sharing path, you get a much more "typical" story where the two fall in love on their fateful encounter at your doorstep and it's all romance down the pipe).

This is one game where I think a walkthrough (none available) or URM and a bit of bac-tracking may be necessary to get in the right NTS path. While the non-sharing path is easy to ensure (just pick all the loving choices on day 1 and you already can't leave it), the sharing path splits into progressively darker branches, and you need to avoid certain things if you want to have a romance path with sharing. Firstly, if you want romance with sharing and not to be dragged back to the love path, you need to avoid giving her what she wants right after the first escort night. I think the key moment is when you prepare to go out with your friends - only then, tell her you want them to see you as your gf. It's a bit silly, but admitting feelings for her before that moment will make her reject escorting, but from that point on, she's already come to enjoy it :p

Technically, branches are tracked with a NTR1, NTR2, NTR3 etc... flag. If you let Emilie know about the first escort proposal you set NTR1 - she takes the job and, from then on, Emilie trusts your decision and you can choose every future escort job she takes. If you accept a second job from that first person who contacted you, she'll be drugged, gangbanged and impregnated (NTR2), but you can still avoid the darker ends. Even pregnant by an unknown man, you can still protect her from the evil guys and likely play all the sharing girlfriend path exactly, the only difference being that on that night, if you don't let her go, she'll become pregnant from the MC instead. But later on, there's another decision where you can choose whether or not to let her do something that sets a NTR3 flag, and that's the start of the dark path, she'll be kidnapped. I never played, so that's as far as I know. I think even then, you can still save her but I'm not sure if, or how you can still end up together. And I'm not sure about the suicide ending, but I think you can keep doubling down on bad decisions and the story gets even darker.

Bottom line, AF is a game that features an exquisite fantasy mashup. I don't care about the dark paths. You can love and marry the FMC while pimping her out. You can get decent character progression if you take the sharing route, while the love route is more of an archetypal love (+ possible harem) path. And you can have a harem even on the sharing path, with Emilie being a true cuckquean, and pimp out other girls as well. If you care about realism... Not really the best example. But it's a good kinky fantasy story where the need for suspension of disbelief is not too unreasonable.

I really, really appreciate you laying that out. I started the game, and kept wondering if I was making choices that I couldn't come back from. Chose the kind, friendly options, because frankly the other ones were really in an asshole tone and direction and that's not how I like to do things. However, if that's the only way to start and open it up, then so be it. I'll add the URM and figure it out as I go. While I don't enjoy playing as a MC who treats women poorly, I also have no interest in playing a vanilla one-woman love story either. I really wish that devs didn't make you jump through these almost invisible hoops to access the best content, especially if you're paying attention.

I don't know how many people here are in the Skyrim modding scene, but this reminds me a bit of the Vigilant mod. In act 1, you have to be an asshole (you're a Vigilant of Stendarr, what else can you be) and accumulate bad karma. But the subsequent acts offer you more than enough opportunity to redeem your character. Player pressure made the author introduce alternative paths to act 1 (basically, you're mind-controlled and forced to commit the same cruel acts, instead of deciding to do so). There's also the possibility to completely reject and defeat the corrupting influence, and "die honourably" at the end of the act, introducing a narrative split where your character truly dies but your game is resumed as another character who'll be trying to trace the footsteps of the original. Basically, denies character progression and replaces it with a hero that dies heroically, and a hero that follows up, for those who can't play anything but a hero.

This game (AF) is similar. If you want to be the hero from the start, you'll get no alternative but the love path. If you choose to play the asshole, the story does offer a chance to tone down the toxic flavour of your dominant character and let the MC fall for Emilie, in a progressive, arguably more believable way. Because, honestly, what kind of an idiot do you have to be, to have had feelings for Emilie since high school (knowing she liked you and was an outcast, you had no competition) and realise that only years later, the moment you casually meet her at your door steps, and not before.

I've played Skyrim since launch, but always on console, so mods are limited. But I get what your analogy is.

I only played through the first few chapters of AF, but I think that a lot of it feels rushed, and could have been done in a different way to set things up in perhaps a more believable way so that the player is that given the chance of how to proceed. After the MC invites her in to live with him, there could have been a sort of time skip montage, where they're getting to know one another better and better without getting romantic or sexual, but that he also realizes that money is getting tighter and tighter and they have to do something or they're going to lose the apartment. So that, he gets the idea of having her start the AF account with him as the photographer, and is given the choice of how far and how quickly he pushes her. And instead of him just being a dick about it from the get go, it would be a more natural sequence of being really turned on by her and making the choice to be raunchy with what gets published or not.

100% I think I made the same suggestion as you and for sure wasn't the first. But ended up getting used to the candid story, at least if you avoid the dark path. Romance within the sharing path is satisfying. First game from the author, one-man-show and probably shifted multiple times in response to feedback (aka whining, hissing and threats). Very likely they intended to make a simple love path/dark (NTR) path choice to begin with? It's definitely more sketchy at times than some other sharing games, but not the worst by a long mile. The relationship part isn't complex, it's more in the "it just works" spirit. Don't know why they didn't change the starting episode, but I thought it was cool that your character "learns" to love Emilie, instead of falling in love at first sight. It's tempting to respond positively to her dreams of romance, if you disappoint her at first, but come around later, she's still so happy that it feels like she endured uncertainty and didn't falter, and her persistence was rewarded. I admit this may be my reading more than the author's intended narrative, but it feels right and is an arc that's not often explored in games, at least not without a stage of competition and uncertainty for the MC himself. Here, if you avoid the dark path, the bumpy start smooths out quickly, there isn't too much angst throughout the game, and that's a big plus for me.

Here's a post I can get on board with (credit to OP)

A more enlightened view of Sharing/NTS

((still go with the view that these tags should not be used (NTR for NTS), but rather sharing/swinging))
and of course the view that cucking is not actually a part of it, but a separate thing.
I forgot which thread I was in for a second, because I was about to say "didn't we just talk about that yesterday?" LOL

Too many of those 'expert' posts lately. Everyone has their own version.
Having an informed opinion still requires attempting to understand the viewpoints and maunderings of others, no matter the subject.
Research also requires the same search for understanding. Mocking or blocking "experts" only reveals an unwillingness to understand.
Especially when there is no definitive description of a particular term.
Until that becomes the norm, it will all only be an opinion, by definition.

That's the problem, there are no 'official' definitions. And a lot of people proclaim to have the 'right' answer. All it really is is their opinion of what it means. The AVN community is so muddled with these meanings, there will never be agreement on what they mean. Like I said, everyone has their own version.

I just get tired of people always posting and saying 'this is the correct answer'.

And the easy answer is we all live in different worlds, with different viewpoints, and that is what makes it great, but also difficult to agree.
Even on simple things like who should fuck your wife/gf, and when :ROFLMAO:

lol not me, i groan everytime i see the nth post debating japanese terms. It'll never end tho, because the only thing a weeb loves more than japanese culture and language is explaining japanese culture and language to others.

That's not to say I mind people debating the nuances of say 'open relationships' vs swinging or sharing or cuckoldry or polygamy, those are all grounded and english concepts.

Agreed.
But, this post was the first time I had seen someone come up with something I felt more closely mirrored the way I see those terms.
And as Bikcrow said right underneath, and you have seen me also say so many times, it would be better to just use the english terms (tags), and just say right out whether it is sharing, swinging, or whatever, not some misconstrued ancient japanese term.
Fuck NTR....literally :ROFLMAO:

Damn. Is that what the moonripple thread has become? Hundred of pages filled with worthless and pointless posts? All I want know had BCG sort out the payment problem yet?

Some people like to have conversations. Wild.

The dev said that he's still working on the payment problems, but is also still working on the game as well.

Wedding Roaming is better though.
How is the NTS path at present? Pr0GamerJohnny saw you participating on the thread, does the MMC have a spine or is he again happy to take the back seat, like in the previous game?

Don't want to offend anyone by generalising, but these two games (WR and Stay Online) make me wonder if willing passive cuckold husbands, or clueless cheated ones, are something that some women dig (author presents herself as a woman). Sadistic vibes, femdom and all that. While stag/vixen dynamics may actually be more of a male fantasy and rare in real life? Doesn't change my preference one bit, though. And my question about the current state of WR is that the newer game started with passive MMC vibes, similar to the first one's.

Hmmmmm....The last leaf of autumn...

He plays mostly a backseat role.

I'd wager real life is the opposite - cuckold stuff is an overwhelmingly male fantasy, whereas most women would far prefer a less contentious setup.

I assume your mention of a "contentious setup" refers to Wedding Roaming in particular? Seems to have been wobbling in keeping NTS and NTR routes distinct, according to some posts, so I assume there's a MMC having to deal with whatever mischief the wife pulls, no opt-outs allowed, choices being mainly whether he's ok with it?

As for the cuckold fantasy, there's too much masochism in the overwhelming majority of cuckold paths and games. Not judging the fantasy itself, just the way it's presented in most of these stories. There's a saying in my countery, "quem não se sente não é filho de boa gente", roughly meaning "any man worth his salt would be offended" in this context. It's not about male domination but self-respect, that the beta male archetype seems to lack, putting up with humiliation, never getting any for himself, happy to only make room for others, etc.

Isn't this the game where during the preparations for his wedding MC discovers that his best friend, his best man, is secretly taking pictures of his fiancee, including not so innocent ones, and decides "Yeah, this is fine. This is the man I should trust the most. In fact, I should let him get closer to my fiancee"?
