The game concept is okay, and was well executed for some time.


It's an extremely linear story, hidden behind choices that sadly don't change anything about the progression of the game and a fully working world map that let's yo go wherever is currently unlocked. Sadly, there's almost always only a single place you have to go to progress the story, and everywhere else will be devoid of any meaningful interactions. To it's credit, the humor is kinda good, and the static graphics are great in their own genre.

The updates are what makes this game worthy of nothing more than a single star review. I've never seen a game with updates that are so rare, with so much time in between, but with so little content added each time. It's actually mind boggling how stretched thin the content has been. Even considering every scene is probably hand drawn, it doesn't make any sense, unless the dev just works on the game one or two weeks per year.

Don't waste your time playing this game. The few lewd scenes that are present are NOT worthy of your time. At this rate, this game will still be "in development" in a decade.

Awesome graphics and renders. Fantastic storyline. This game takes me back to some of my early childhood gaming experiences with the mix of fantasy and reality. This is really shaping up to be one hell of a game!

Graphics are good. Art is good. Characters look fine. Story is interesting enough, nothing special however. Animations are decent, but sex scenes are meh. Most of them are rather vanilla, and not spicy at all.

You have choices, but they are meaningless. Basically if you choose one choice, and that one isn't a correct one, the game will tell you that and progress with the other choice. This isn't a game, it's just a LN masked as a game. The gameplay is rather linear. Updates are released in a form of one girl per update, so basically you'll be playing one girl story at a time.

Also, it takes more than one year per update and time of updates is only increasing. If they continue this way, the update after the next one is going to take two years. In other words, it's basically 1+ year for couple of sex scenes and maybe 2-3 hours of gameplay, and that's if you're a slow reader that reads every single word even tho the gameplay isn't worth your time at all. So you really shouldn't be bothered with trying this game right now. Rather wait 10 more years and if you by any chance still remember this slow shit, than download it and play it if you must.

Also, the world that is introduced to you seems big, so you expect a lot of content, but there isn't really. Don't get hooked on it and don't bother. You won't be introduced to most of it even in 5 more years. Devs make ton of money on this mediocre shit, so they certainly won't change anything.

Vastly overrated.

I like the art style and from the dickriding reviews and posts in the discussion thread I expected a lot more from this game.

Pros:

-I really do like the art overall.
-The story has some really funny parts which I greatly appreciate.
-I like how there are several time slots in each day, so you can do many things in each day rather than like one or two events as in many other games.
-So far, the LIs are mostly cute attractive women around the MC's age, and not overweight.

Cons:

-The dialogue is cringey at times. For example, Myrtle constantly thinks stuff to herself like "come on girl you got this girl you go girl you deserve this girl" - this is a real turn-off to me. Um, this is a game about, you know trying to bang a bunch of hot ladies. I don't really need this girl power subtext stuff it's kind of jarring. It's not supposed to be realistic by the way it's a fantasy. With orcs and elves and shit no less.

-Surprisingly little content. WTF? This has been out a while... You will be shocked at how many LIs do 1 or 2 sex scenes and then like that's it. The game just tells you "oh yeah there is nothing else for this character yet." There are a lot of wasted opportunities. With the whole pixie sidequest thing I was shocked - you bang her one time and that's it. But you will spend a lot of time going back and forth, seeking out wisdom on how to heal her, visiting her many times to help her recuperate after she gets injured, etc. etc... for nothing. This all happens AFTER you banged her the one time. LOL WTAF! You know this is an H game right... right??! Plus when she kept asking him to "stroke" her how the fuck did that not evolve into some kind of fondling, licking her pussy, ...anything remotely sexual...???

-What content is there, is VANILLA AS FUCK. The sex is very much ooohhh I love you so much let's stare into each other's eyes and kiss passionately while we fuck in the missionary position and then cuddle. Uhhhh... again you know this is... an H game... right....(?)

-The story is totally linear as fuck and your choices mean NOTHING. There is no real point in having you click on dialogue options because if you don't pick what the game wanted you to do it just overrides your decision lmao. And unfortunately, it just forces the MC to be a little pathetic bitch all the time. This game badly badly needs the option to take darker paths.

-The graphics are noticeably lower quality on the sex renders compared to the rest of the game. There is less detail and the animation is clunky at times. I know I sound like a broken record but... YOU DO KNOW THIS IS AN H GAME RIGHT? Holy hell know your audience... the sex scenes need to be the best quality out of the game. Priorities are reversed here. Way more effort was put into the art for the 'guy in wolf costume getting set on fire' scene compared to say, the time you bang Myrtle. How...does that make sense?

So in short, it has potential but it would need to go a good deal darker and naughtier at least when it comes to sex, the MC needs to be less of a moronic cuck bitch, and the dialogue needs to be appropriate for a porn game you're not making a Disney movie folks... Oh and it needs roughly 10x the content it has now.

fanastic writing, interesting characters, animations to further immerse me, intruging story and plots, that stopped me from ever skipping..

just an all round great game!!

now the reason its not five stars is for these reason(s)

1. i would love repeatable scenes, and sure we have the journal to revisit them, but id love to keep myself immersed in its world and be able to just directly speak to the person i want a specific something off of.

2. lack of variety in body types. all the girls bar the hag are victorias secret models. i want some average, god even some fear boner worthy women to fool around with. i am in a fantasy world, lemme smash some fucking strange things, some UGLY things, some HIDEOUS things, some SCARY things.

3. every damn woman in a medevil fantasy world has a shaved pussy? doesnt feel right, i dont mind some being shaved, but i like variety, and its hard to believe a woman posing as a drunk homeless woman had the time to shave her muff. also the princess (yet to see her pussy), but i wouldnt be surprised if she was shaved, even though it makes zero sense as she never had access to her chasity. point is, id love the partners i have to have a diverse range of pube options, some shaved, some stubble, some landing strip, some 70s bush, and some full on hairy body, pits, pussy, legs, ass etc.. i want that realism dependant on the character for it to make sense, nobles sure i can see them potentially doing it.. however commoners, orcs, old folk etc. variety.

4. variety of partners, im BI so i like variety both male, female, trap, trans etc. however, if thats off the table, gimme some monster ladies, and by god dont make all of em look like pretty lil things, i want to be confused and turned on. not everyone needs to be pleasant to look at, or stick thin with a perfect body. i want some fat ladies with proper rolls, pouches etc, i want skinny asf ladies, i want OLD ASF ladies, ranging from pretty GILFS to dead ass ugly mfs. i want variety in the pussy i explore (or ass?).. if everyone of them looks like pretty models, it makes the immersion less, and therefor i dont believe it, if that makes sense? munters need love too! aka lemme fuck celestina in all her horrid glory without the spec, anal, ass eating, ass job, blowy etc. lemme have a toggle of with or without the glassses. xD freaky deaky shit

5. more options for sex, paired with repeatable IN GAMEPLAY features.. ass licking, pussy licking, fingering, spreading, deep throat with tears, anal and more ass stuff (yeah im an ass dude)..

6. give us a morality system, allow us to do questionable shit, non con? god even just fucking questionable people. lemme choose what i fall into. loved the ONLY but brief scene where you basically creep on Lana is her name? when shes drunk asleep. was hoping for more night invasions or creep scenes. as after all tis a game, a safe space to explore what GAMES of this genre have to offer.

7. wishlist: Trans women, Femboys, dudes. repeatable scenes you can just do in game via dialogue rather than having to refer to a menu. more anal and ass options. more pube options and body types. more characters ranging from sexy asf, hideous, ugly, to scary. diverse age ranges, from young (legal), to middle aged, to pretty gilf, to OLD ASF. and maybe some more creep scenes that we can repeat, expand on that, from scenes like sleep or passed out BJS, anal etc.

anyways, cringe request out the way. this is a cracking game with alot of potential! its not often i load a hentai game up and not skip it. this hooked me in! from my understanding its a couple that devs this? if im right and ive not got my games mixed up.. then GG to both of you! hopefully this isnt another GEM that is lacking regular content cycles, and i end up waiting an age for minimal content. SUPPORT THESE DEVS. i will in time, the only thing for me is 1. how often updates come out and how chonky are these updates. and 2. if you take our suggestions seriously.

I don't fully feel comfortable with this rating.
A part of me wants to give it a 5, because of how good the artwork and aesthetic is, however in terms of actual enjoyment, I should give it a 2/3. Hear me out...

The story is pretty fun, had a nice while during my playthough... but it tends to extend some things that should be shorter .
The controls can become very tiring at some point, in my case quite quickly, and then there's my biggest complain. The scenes just don't cut it for me. There is some good erotism at some points, but mostly I think it is lacking, or at least it doesn't hit me.

In the end, i'm left thinking that this dev can create some amazing things in the future. But What a Legend wasnt precisely my cup of tea, I wish I liked it more.

Sets out what it wants to accomplish. Nice light hearted game with good art. Writing is also good, and the pacing seems to be just right. Would recommend to play as one of the better games out there. Only concern with the game is whether or not it gets completed in a satisfactory manner. While a couple of the LI's have tons of content, one of the cover characters is only in a single scene.

Edit: Took from 5* to 1*. Unfortunately this game has gone the way of being milked. There is no way this ever getting completed, going on two years since last update and one of the cover characters is only in a single scene.

As it is, there's little to no content for most of the girls within the game. Maybe 2-3 girls have more than 1-2 scenes. For how long this has been in dev, that's an abysmal pace and it needs to be addressed.

My only gripe with the gameplay is. . the. . constant. . need. . to. . tap. . twice. . to. . advance. . text. You know, so they can load that facial expression change. That's totally how renpy works, guys. Only, the dev knows it's not, cause randomly you DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT. SO YOU MISS DIALOGUE. BECAUSE YOU'RE USED TO THE GAME BEING ASS AT TRANSITIONS. WHY.

People suck this game's nutsack constantly so I checked it out and honestly, for what's actually here...it's a big nothing burger for me. Average at best as it is at the moment.

Art, gameplay, story and amount of content.

Art 10/10.
The art in this game is super high quality. Id even say its the best in the porn game industry.
Looks hand-drawn with alot of details even the backgrounds are super well made.

Gameplay 5/10.
There is little to no actual gameplay.
Still more than the avarage VN.

Story 9/10.
Id call this a comedy, its funny and its not taking itself seriously.
The MC is a horny dumbass (common) but unlike the usual idiot MC, this one is actually funny.

Content 8/10.
There is a good amount of high quality H content.
Sadly development is slow but that is expected with this kind of quality.

This game is a must play for VN players who prefer this art style over 3d models.
If you want gameplay its a pass.
Porn wise its great but it lacks common fetishes.
And a big plus for me at least - no NTR

Might be the best 2d artstyle on this site right now! The story is captivating and funny, it's just all around a pleasant game to play. Ofcourse the H-scenes are nice too. Creators usually tend to self insert themselfes in their art, this is true for this game too. However unlike a lot of other developers you can tell that they have a healty view on sex and sexual relations. Good stuff!

Holy crap this is a masterpiece.

The visuals are just stunning, arguably the best I've seen since they are so unique.

Story is pleasingly straightforward, good characters.

But the humor and subtle hints are just elevating this to a new level. I absolutely lost it at the perfect weeb tribute.

Very easily among best 5 games of all of them.

TL;DR: surprisingly boring.

1) While the art is beautiful, it doesn't really fit for a porn game, i.e. it's not really that sexy. As an example you can look at Myrtle bending over near a window in previews. Notice how you can't really see any curves (no buttocks) and it looks flat. This problem is prevalent in most sex scenes art in this game. It's just not that arousing. I wonder if the art for sex scenes is simplified on purpose to easier animate it. I'd honestly prefer it to be static (just a few changing pictures as you progress the scene) if it meant having more details, but maybe I'm wrong and it's just that the art is like that. Also the animations themselves are twitchy and not fluid.

2) While the story is fine for the most part, often it feels like it's stretched out on purpose (if you played the quests in this game like trying to get into the city - you know what I mean). On top of that, there are no real choices to affect story.

3) Not likeable MC. It's really hard to relate to this kind of character (a really stupid kind, with no real good qualities to compensate except maybe a big dick). But what's worse, he really sours the main aspect of any porn game.

4) "The Meat" aka "sexy times". Because of the overall tone of the game and MC being who he is, it's really hard for him to have good interactions with LIs in the game. You wouldn't even believe that half of them can get it on with a guy like that.
The game being really vanilla also doesn't help with that. And by being vanilla I don't even mean not having some extreme fetishes. Just the overall vibe of most of the sex scenes is really tame. There's no passion, no "spark" in them. The positions are boring, no spicy dialog etc. Combined with what I wrote earlier about the art in porn scenes being flat and it makes the overall experience rather unsatisfactory (at least for me).

I still have hopes for some characters (specifically for Gomira and Simmone; I hope they will be more assertive/dominant LIs that will be able to "carry" the sex scenes on their own; Lana was a disappointment in that regard). But those are just hopes and as of version 0.6 it's a rather dull game for me.

I love the art style of this game. Cartoonish but adorable and playful. Girls are genuine, beautiful and cute. Facial expressions are done well also. For the art, I would gladly dish out 5 stars..

However,
Scenes are a bit repetitive but since it has to be drawn every time, I imagine it's harder to show various angles or perspectives than 3d games, so I can understand some repetitive scenes and lack of variety in sex scenes.

The story.. is SLOOOOW. In order to advance in the main story line, mandatory side quests need to be completed. And while there are abundant side quests available, they are meek and uninspiring. You just slowly get nowhere.
Boring dialogs are a big reason to this lack of interest. They are repetitive and bland. Just empty banters going back and forth that just feels like it's stalling for content.

Lack of music seems like a missed opportunity since the atmosphere of the game is perfect for some light hearted music. There are games that can do without music but in this case, music feels like a must and the game feels empty and half-finished without it.

The final major downfall of the game is the MC. The dude is a moron. I feel bad I'm supposed to be this guy in the story. Abundance of WTF decisions and stupid expressions just rubs me the wrong way to the point that I have to save and quit the game to cool off before continuing. Maybe a first person perspective would have been better, I don't know, anything but his stupid face.

I felt really good about this game when I started, but the experience turned sour pretty quickly. Hope the game improves with time so I can genuinely enjoy it again.

As a side note, you might consider some sfx/ voices for the actual sex scenes. Not too much, but to give it that sense of dynamism

Firstly you're wondering how the hell is this unbiased!?
Let me break it down as a ex patreon backer.

Pros
-Amazing writing and dialogue, very witty sense of comedy that suits a fantasy/adventure VN nicely.

-Art is godlike, say less.

-Game is not buggy at all and everything is very polished. The only sandbox style game that I approve of.

-Easily the top 2D game on this site.


Cons
-Unjustifiable waiting times, you are looking at 1 update per year.
Last update featuring the gypsy lady was also not that good, it felt very short.

-One update clears one Li at a time base off patreon votes. Currently this game will not be finished until 2040 given the ensemble size.

-Sex scenes needs more variety in terms of angles and animation. Right now its just undressings. Not worth waiting for when your Li gets only like 4 variations of the same scene.


Overall this game excels in what it does but as 2D games go development takes longer. However, you deserve to read an honest review and right now this game's updates are atrociously long without the content to justify for it. Currently we are over a year already with nothing to show. But let the delusional community get on the your ass the moment you speak the truth.

I've essentially stopped backing because if you are that is about paying $4-6 (depending on your tier) and upwards per month for 12 months. That is basically almost paying $40-70 a year just for one more girl to be playable for 10 more minutes. Keep in mind Magicnuts have a patreon income of €7940 (euros) per month! All that money for 1 Li per 9-12months is highway robbery.

This game is very bad.

The gameplay and quests are terrible, it is far too linear for a sandbox game and there are too little locations, the quest are always too long and are moatly juat go there to get that item so a fetch quest awful.

The main and side stories are very badly written and just boring and predictable.

The characters are all very boring and I couldn´t connect with any of them. The main character is also just the worst I really hate him and his whole plan is to go tothe big city to lose his virginity this one of the worst character motivations I have ever seen and that from the main character how should I like him? He is also too dumb and weak and he has the cliche that he is the "chosen one".

The art is very boring almost all character try to look too realistic and just look boring because of that, there were some characters that looked nice, lord hammerdick looks very cartoonishly evil which is fitting, the guards have very good eyes, and my favorite design is the wish tree he looks like a old disney character but everyone else boring.

The sex scenes are total garbish the animations look very robotic and they are far too short and good dirty tals doesn´t exist either, they are also very vanilla.


I really don´t like this game, atleast it isn´t too long or complicated so atleast everyone can try it.

What a Legend! is definitely a legendary game, just like its name says. It has it all, an interesting and unique story, wholesome and witty characters, charming surroundings, and beautiful, sexy models. The artwork is top notch, very original, and gives the game an overall dreamy feel. The game mechanics are simple, the writing is very realistic and humorous, making the plot very easy to follow. It's not hard getting into this game because of the general high-quality of the design and production. I have been enjoying it some time, and I am looking forward to future updates.

If I wanted to sum up this game in one sentence, it would be: "I came for the porn and stayed for the plot (and the porn)."

Although the game is incomplete, the amount of content currently playable is truly remarkable, as well as the amount of characters and erotic content to unlock. The game itself is the classic vn, where our only freedom will be to choose whether to continue the main story or one of the many side-stories (and in what order the latter): so don't expect anything in the gameplay. On the other hand, the narration, the dialogues, the jokes and the rhythm of the adventures of our hero and his companions will never bore us and indeed will always be ready to surprise and amuse. All capped off by a wonderful art department and delightful erotic scenes. The only weak point of the game is the music, which is very banal and repetitive, but even this can be neglected if desired. To conclude, What a Legend is an experience that is worth living and enjoying and if you can, support the developers, who are doing a really good job.

really impressive game. gorgeous drawings, humorous scripts i've never seen before here. other systems also look very clear. definitely worth keep watching Artwork is great and I found it to be pretty entertaining. Had a few good chuckles at some of the scenes. Will definitely keep an eye on this one.
