    [v0.5.01]
What a Legend is one of the best games in this style. The game is full of quests and adventures and it is very interesting to pass it. I usually pass games of this genre, but this game really got me and I don't regret a single minute of it. In this game the action takes place in the Middle Ages with magic, elves and so on... Unfortunately the game is not yet complete, but I will gladly wait for the next update from the author.

    really damn really cool(y)
Played it, expecting a half-assed point and click harem adventure type game, and boy was i wrong.

The story is good, really good. I'm actually really glad I found the itch.io version first, because if i downloaded it from here i would've just downloaded a gallery unlocker and skipped the gem that is the story of this game.

So I wrote a 3 part review on the parts that I think people will want to hear about.

    The Story

Let's start simple, the story is nice, its consistent and the side quests are just as fun to read along as the main story. Not to mention, this game has a lot of modern media references that really makes this game feel grounded and not too much like a cash-grab type game Nutaku would make. Not that it would seem like a Nutaku game without the references, but i think it adds a nice touch. Hey! Speaking of games...

    The Gameplay

Honestly, I think its a bit lacking in gameplay. I think there could've been parts where the developer could've added minigames and the sort just to mix things up, its not everyday you see a Point&Click VN game with minigame elements that make the game a little less than just reading along. But, It's still quite nice to see a Point&Click VN game with all the features you would expect from one. Am I wrong for expecting more, gameplay-wise? No, but that doesn't necessarily mean the developer of this game is wrong either. They did really well with handling everything like the story and the scenes and such.

    The Scenes

THE SCENES. The amount of work it takes to get scenes from a character for the first time really makes getting scenes rewarding. I mean, yeah okay sure you can just skip through everything and unlock the scenes for a character really easily. But that's not what I'm implying. The way you made every scene you get as rewarding as the other is something i dont find a lot for other Point&Click VNs, and I think that's what makes this game truly special.

    Conclusion (TL;DR)

For a game made using Ren'py, it's really cool to see something more than "Just a VN game". The design makes space for both an unfamiliar adventure ahead, yet familiar character lines that makes you go "Wait! I know where that's from!" Followed by the little jingle that plays when you get an "Achievement" for it, as if the game knew how you're gonna react to all the little modern media references. It's a good game.

wow i really just wrote an entire essay about a porn game.

play v0.3.01 with french trad (which explains my poor written English, sorry)

story: 5/5 I really got hooked on the story, it's very well written, the humor is good, we want to know more

characters: 5/5 A good diversity, all the characters are very pretty and well written

sex scene: 3/5 Very few scenes in the version I played, but we see in the game that many scenes are planned for higher versions

renders: 5/5 I really loved the graphic style, everything fits very well with the world of the game, and it's full of very beautiful details

animation: 3/5 Unless you got them faster, animations often lack fps. But there is a lot of animation and that is cool

sound: The sound effects are very good, but it lacks music

gameplay: 3/5 The game promises a lot with its very large map (but almost nothing accessible for the moment), let's hope there's more to do there soon

    Version: [0.5.01]

'What a Legend!' is a charming, high quality sandbox game.

First of all - everything looks fantastic, the world is beautiful and feels alive, the characters look amazing, the animations are great, and everything feels very high quality.
The writing is witty, funny, and flows really well. the characters themselves have a lot of personality, they are interesting and likeable, I found myself invested in the multiple LI's pretty quickly.
The main story is pretty interesting. kind of whacky but in a good, charming way. side content is well done in that regard too.
The pacing is a little weird when it comes to the main story, but is on point when it comes to relationships, they feel natural and believable.

Overall the experience is wonderful from start to finish, a little light on the sex, especially early on, but I didn't mind at all, especially since the game could easily work without any sex in it.

    Now, a few minor points:
When I play a sandbox game I usually find myself asking 'why is it even a sandbox?' and usually I have no clue since most games around these parts earn absolutely nothing from being a sandbox.
Well, if I'm being honest 'What a Legend' could drop the sandbox aspect and lose very little, but unlike most other games - at least it doesn't get in the way.
You need to do some light quests while playing - 'get the glue from the merchant', 'get a broom from the house' type of thing, its all very light and the hint system tells you exactly what to do.
What's the point than? I'm not sure. still though, at least it doesn't get in the way too much.
One good thing I can say about the sandbox aspect is - the devs did a good job limiting the size of the map. You have no access to areas you don't need to be in yet. It's an important thing because it makes the different between a charming little world you get around in, to an empty, frustrating world.

The menus are OK overall but could be improved, accessing the 'quest log' involves you clicking on your backpack, clicking on a crystal, clicking on a specific character, then closing the popup, then closing your backpack.
Making the crystal appear near the backpack, and making the info appear when hovering over a character instead of in a pop up you than need to close, would make using it flow much better and will improve the experience a lot.

Overall 'What a Legends' feels very high quality in every aspect, from the visuals, the sounds, animations and most importantly - writing.
The sex is pretty good but a bit scarce, when it does happen it is pretty short. but considering the game could easily work with no sex, I honestly didn't mind at all.
I couldn't find anything major that hurt the experience, so while the game does have some faults, and obviously no game is perfect, I'll gladly give it a well earned 5.

    3 Star game

Would be higher if the development team registered it as a kinetic novel which it effectively is.

Every choice no matter what I do is already predetermined. Every path must be followed, I cant ignore certain people or things, I cant avoid falling in love with people or getting involved in lewd scene.

Nice art, music and writing but its a flipping kinetic game

The art is beautiful and characters are well wrighted. The story got me involved more than I thought. The light tone of the story and its serious moments are quite balanced.
I really loved this game !
I can't wait to play the next update !

Had difficulty connecting with Rose's story since this time less care was taken with the dialogues: lots of typos, inconsistencies which is not expected from a game of this exposure.
Hoping for a better next release. Best wishes

The story in this game is interesting enough to keep you entertained. Art style is beautiful and animations are good too. Currently, a lot of sex scenes are rather vanilla despite it being a medieval fantasy game, so don't expect a wide variety of fetishes (at least not for some time). World in this game is nicely built and I think that characters are also quite interesting and all girls are likeable so far, which is rather rare.

If you're not fond of long pacing between updates, I don't think this is the game for you. Especially so if you're not into waiting a lot for maybe hour-hor and a half of gameplay. The quality of updates is ok, but it's easy to feel that amount of content doesn't justify the long pacing. Considering the amount of Patreons the devs have, it seems like they're doing nicely in that regard, so don't expect things to change all that much in that regard.

Also, meaningful choices are nonexistent here. You have choices, but they do not have any merit since if you choose "wrong" the game will just proceed with "correct" choice. So if you're not fan of that, this might not be the game for you.

All in all, probably the best looking 2D adult game which has a lot of good to offer, but also has some downsides I mentioned (and maybe some I forgot to mention) so it's a 3* as far as I am concerned.

Neat story. Good art. Unfortunately, there's no gameplay. None of the choices matter. Basically, the only choice you get to make is in which order to do the quests. I enjoyed it well enough anyway, but I was disappointed :(

The story's linear, but honestly, I'm okay with that. May not be what everyone's looking for, but the "Hints" mechanic helps with the direction of the game and keeps you on track. Choices don't really matter and at first that bothered me, but the sheer amount of content for something that's still in development makes up for it, imo. Personally, I wouldn't have the time to explore every single option, so it soon became apparent that I preferred it as it is now.

What really sold it to me was the writing. The characters are loveable & the interactions are witty and humorous, which made the game very enjoyable for me. Each character has their own personality and quirks.

The art is fantastic and the animation as a whole is pretty good. The sound is good and the music fits very well.

Overall, it's good. Probably my favorite game that I've played on F95. I don't rate or leave reviews ever, so this is a first. This is one of the few, if not the only H-Game where it left me wanting more in terms of story. I'm literally looking for another game to fill this void and that has never happened to me for an H-Game.

    Lana best girl.

Very good artwork, but the story is very linear and you have to do certain things in a certain order in order to advance. That's not really what I'm looking for in terms of the stuff I come here to play. I'm not big on sandbox-y elements being required to move the story, but that's just me. There is good humor in the writing, so if you're more into the following of a linear story with good art and humor then this might be more for you.

Very good but It's a little too linear. Considering the large main map this might change in the future.

This project might be a little too ambitious. If they want to fill that map with quality content like the current one it will take a very long time.

    [I played v.0.5.01]

I have a lot to say, but overall, I like the direction that this game is heading towards. For what it has right now, it has great artwork/scenes, a story with multiple plotlines that may intrigue readers for the future, and exemplifies some of the amazing things the Ren'Py engine can be capable of.

However, I do worry, as development continues for this game, that story sequence breaking may happen (i.e.
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
). If future areas get added and bring with them more lewd content, I worry it may be overwhelming to manage that within the vision of this game and may cause burnout/abandonment of the project entirely.

Perhaps it's not my place to speculate, but that's just what I honestly think. Still, this is good work and I hope everyone supports the creator on Patreon or wherever else.

Great graphic adventure, interesting story arcs, nice characters, even better art and animations ;)

Sadly, it has really long waiting times (half a year each new version). But they are worth the wait.

This game has amazing art and world building. The setting is a pretty generic fantasy setting but it's good enough to work as the background for the game. gameplay. The characters are all fleshed out enough to have a personality and the sex scenes are very well animated. The gameplay isn't too bad either. One of my favorites!

    +Best art on the site
The world, characters and everything else is gorgeous

    +Great animations

    +Good writing
It's all around decent but it's often funny and endearing(I love Kevin!)

    -Fake choices
You will be offered choices while following the story. But the choices are all fake and if you pick the "wrong" choice the game will then immediately continue with the other "correct" choice.
If I have no choice, don't give me one.

Without a doubt the best 2DCG game. Even when compared to the 3DCG game this one still lies in top. Loved the artstyle it's great and models too. There is humor. Loved it. And quests are enjoyable. Game with sandbox element but it's not that much grinding. Story is good. There is sound effects to give more ampience to thr game. Overall this one is truly worth playing.

    + Great graphics and artstyle
    + Beautiful models
    + Humor
    + Enjoyable quests
    + Story
    + Sound effects
    + Sandbox is not grindy

    Reviewing v0.5.01

Normally I strongly dislike games that only offer an illusion of choice and this game does tend to do that a lot. But the character and art design is so good I can't give this anything but 5 stars. Another thing this game does really well is the pacing of character interactions and their arcs. I've genuinely fallen for the female characters in this game which is extremely rare. And that makes the eventual, well paced sexual encounters so much more satisfying.

While I do wish the releases were quicker, I liken these devs to Rockstar games. They might take a while but the eventual release is just a piece of art that's so worth the wait.

    A must try!

A benchmark in quality. The level of care in creating this is crazy. The art is amazing, and characters have life! Be it in the scenes or when youre just talking to them. The animation and art is of high quality (comes with shading, nauncy of skin tone, and engaging backdrops). Avoids saturation of characters without content - the characters that are there have a story and the writing tells it well. Thus, brings you more into the world they are creating and leads to a greater degree of engagement.

There are many reviews in this thread detailing how great this game is from a technical and artistic level - with good reason. But what should be noted is the creation of the game itself. The first version was released around April of 2020. As we all know, staying indoors and traveling only when strictly necessary was key. During that time, many of us thought, "hey I should learn how to do this" or "I'm going to finally start doing XYZ". Well a team did just that. I don't know if the idea for WAL came about before everything or after, I just know they sought to do something with their time that they wanted to do and followed through.

Now we're here with one of the best games on the site. The writing is fantastic. Its funny and actually makes you care about the characters you talk to, which I think greatly adds to the nature of the game since you are more invested. The amount of time it takes to make such great/detailed art cannot be understated - who knows how long and tedious it must be to get a character's face or piece of clothing to look just so. Actually, we do! The development team has consistently kept in contact with its community members about how the update is moving along and behind-the-scenes of how the game is being developed! Also, they encourage community engagement with polls on what character(s) should be focused on in the next update and so on. Not to mention, the creators seem like nice people.

TLDR: The combination of community engagement, great care behind the game, and consistently great updates has made one of the best games on the site and a benchmark of how good a game can be. Likeable characters, a caring and smart protagonist, terrific dialogue, and S tier scenes with multiple angles/moving parts come together to make a terrific experience.

I dont know kinda pointless to me, why even make decisions when they have 0 Impact whatsoever. Just dont see the point in playing then. The rest looks kinda ok, but u just click around, doesnt really matter what you do or how or when its just looking and clicking, I dont know just semms pointless imo
