Sometimes I honestly wonder if this forum's ordinary user's mind equates the difficulty and effort needed of the task of debugging game code to the difficulty and effort needed of the task of correcting typos in a script.

Theres also a patreon post every month for half the games on this site which should be marked abandoned and yet they aren't being updated at all but it gives fanboys enough copium to eternally defend their developers who break every single self-imposed deadline until the developer ends up basically not doing any more work and suddenly the fanboys disappear or never respond again (All ICSTOR games, Taffy Tales, WVM etc...)

Coding in RenPy is like writing a literal script for a game with posing and background image changes sprinkled in every few lines, you literally cannot need multiple months to "debug" that mostly linear clicker visual novel game even if you wanted to, if you truly believe its possible to have 268 "bugs" in such an engine and game which take months to solve, I have a bridge to sell you.
how much?

You're clearly a better developer than anyone else here. I'll bet your game is fantastic. Care to share a link?

I get what you wanna say the fact that this update is taking twice as much as the devs promised and still not out yet, But I think I'm tired of seeing people complaining this sh*t over and over again. The Developers of this game have heard a lot of those complaints and had enough so they don't even reply to this session anymore. If you can't wait shut up and get out.

As with most threads on this site, the people bawling the loudest aren't Patrons. They're just babies banging on things and screaming, "Baby WANT!!!!"
I mean yeah, obviously the people who are unhappiest with the state of the game aren't financially supporting it? That's not really much of a revelation.

The offered refunds when deadlines slip keeps me fairly happy (even with the admittedly slow parts of dev), but if I dislike the current state of a product or creator obviously I wouldn't give them my money.

what the hell is going on here?
If you're talking about the devs nothing they are still working on polishing and finishing the next update.
If you're referring to what's happening here in the thread... Well lots of whining from peoples that have nothing to do, aside crying because something they get for free is delayed, the usual routine here on F95... :)

First of all is you have a tiny bit of knowledge about coding you probably should know that sometimes fixing a bug creates a few more, you need to be careful with this kind of thing. Second by your 40 min assumption of gameplay you are basically telling me that you most likely skip the dialogs and go straight to the sexy content. Last update with only a short break for dinner I spend close to 4 hours just enjoying the story. The only thing I will agree with you is that this update has taken to long to arrive at this pace we will have a finished product in 2 decades. At the end if this update gives me at least 3 hours of entertainment it will be worth the wait, if it doesn't well probably drop the project and move on.

The "fixing a bug to create ten more" isnt a reoccurring issue with renpy, it just means you suck at designing and planning the game and this game isnt anything special in its architecture, you have a lot more "dynamic" renpy games in here, and again we are here assuming that they take a whole day just to fix 10 (huge, time consuming) bugs in a renpy game. In my view this means that they either dont put more than half an hour of work per day into the project or they have the absolute worst implementation and lie about the current state of the game.

Im just surprised at the amount of people who defend this most anti-consumer philosophy of game development that encourages and rewards devs to be lazy and make excuses to take development as slow as possible, while getting paid monthly by a cult of people who will defend it from any criticism and got no idea how much unproductive work they are paying for.
Im not here to complain about the development time of a project i dont pay for, just agreeing with someone who is rightfully pointing that what the devs pretend to be doing is a lie.

I for one agree with you completely, this is a re-curing issue on most patreon projects, but this dev gave a lot for free and judging them for peoples willingness to form a cult around a sex game is just wrong.

The problem is with community not with devs.

They have their right to stop working on the game completely.

I'm not going to argue waiting isn't frustrating, but these devs have a fair business model, including offering refunds. That precludes a reasonable right to complain as the consumer.

Every time it's been more than a couple months since the last update, the whingers come in here and start beating the same dead horses, most of which are horses the whingers themselves created out of paper mâché: updates contain less content despite taking longer (which is just not the case) or that the game should be flagged as abandoned (even though there has not been even one second in this game's development cycle where it's been within sight of F95's criteria for such). When they're not making wildly counterfactual assertions, they treat us to oodles of dishonest framing like saying there was "only" one update last year (that one update added 40% of what's currently in the images folder), or that updates are mere minutes of content (sure, if you skip through all of the story to quickly get to the fap material, but in that case you'd be better served just opening the image files in your webp reader of choice), or that updates are just dialog boxes (again, 2.5GB of original art in that images folder), or pretending that debugging Python is the same as removing typos from an essay.

So far the only valid criticism I've seen is that that 3—5 month statement is misleading, except even then they get the criticism wrong. Instead of saying Magicnuts should remove that sentence since letting Patreon backers vote on the update schedule mostly ties their hands as far as development time per update is concerned, it's instead used as an excuse to barge into this thread, shit all over the floor, throw themselves into their own puddle of diarrhea, and then flail about in poopy tantrums.

Imagine writing out paragraphs and paragraphs on multiple threads doing nothing but defending lazy liars who earn in a month more than you do in a year for FREE. The eternal pathetic existance of a bootlicker, lmao.

I'll come back in a few years and play games like these finished and give my money to devs that didn't lie every step of the way and hid behind midwits who get their only daily dopamine from moral grandstanding in a visual novel porn game piracy forum.

This is clearly not the devs day job and they are building this at whatever leisurely pace they want. I wouldn't support this financially, but also can't complain when it's free.
