Imagine making over $6,600 a month on 'developing' a game that you haven't updated in 2 years.
Previous updates took roughly 2-5 months each and still provided a few hours of content.
I guess the couple of devs realized that they don't actually need to do anything or rather take their sweet fucking time doing it to get paid... This game had a huge potential to become one of the best porn games but the devs decided to be cheap about it and didn't hire anybody while leeching money off of their patreons monthly.
This update better contain a week worth of playtime in content.

It's not going to. It'll probably have the usual 30-40 minutes of content if you read everything, 10ish minutes if you're a skip straight to the porn player. There's a laundry list of excuses for why it took so long, so expect the same level of quality as we already got and if it's somehow better then be pleased with it.

I lack your optimism that we will ever even get there. Three more updates is 6 more years at this rate. I'm not even sure there will still be a planet Earth in 6 years, let alone porn games.

Oh no. 23 tasks left (probably more coming), 23 days left in november. And if they need a week to do the final release preparations as usual, then they won't make the deadline.

Never having had any faith in the release date is really helping me here, because I feel no sense of disappointment over it slipping.

Mechanics? I think you mean pointless grinding to pad out gameplay. No thanks! I'll take pure content instead. This is one area of design philosophy the Nuts got *exactly* right.

I'm a masochist on that regard. I grew up playing those janky meet n fuck games. Even mediocre sex scenes feel great if you are frustrated navigating through poorly made minigames, and the scene finally comes as a release. Of course, it is better if the minigames are well made, but bad ones work too

A fishing mini-game, a doll-dressing mini-game, an exploration or a fighting mode, multiple plot lines - these are mechanics. You playing a game by using mechanics, otherwise it's just a VN. So iirc WaL is a straight-forward VN with no gameplay. It would be nice to have something to do in a game but it takes an actual game design.

In comparison though our character steps up to the call and does manage to figure out clever if unconventional solutions to problems for more or less altruistic reasons. Even if he is also a horndog who wants a harem for whatever reason.

That would be a bit of underselling the game. There's some point-and-click aspect, acquiring items, navigating the map, figuring out which NPC to approach to make the plot progress, checking on them at various times of the day, finding that sheep for the picture book.
I am seeing more and more people like me who remember the feeling of playing the game, but starting to forget the game itself.

In the last two updates (granted they were only a second degree update, not like a 0.7 or anything), the only things that have changed were... making a couple scenes less nonconsensual? Feels like the devs could've just kept those in the WIP version and rolled those changes out in the next major update.
