To let patrons know they were actually working on the game during any given day, they just added a task to the debug count even if they hadn't actually fixed any 'bug'.
If that was the case I'd say, in hindsight, that that was probably a very bad idea, as it was one of the main reasons a lot of people thought the progress updates were bullshit.

Only those who wanted to feel that way and refused to listen to what I was saying, or to visit the game's discord and openly ask about it (and I'm not mentioning reading the patreon's weekly reports because those were paywalled).

Maybe, but I have a feeling quite a few people honestly thought the progress was sus because the goal number kept increasing. Not me, but I felt from the comments that some people were trolling but others were honestly suspicious. It's just my opinion, though, haven't done any analysis of the thread.

Surely the count method didn't help, as it was an actual change from previous updates. Devs acknowledged it and will probably look for better ways of communicating their daily work. But the point is that everything was diligently explained to those who actually cared to know. Then obviously it's always a matter of faith, but that's the same with every project that tries to let their followers know how work is going. Sometimes it feels like many people would just prefer having empty and non-descriptive written reports instead.

Enjoyed the update immensely! The art is top notch and I found the story very funny and well written. Also, I'm happy to know the devs have finally overcome their personal troubles, especially considering those also concerned health issues.

The only thing that left me a little cold is that this (huge!) update had very little "game" parts in it. There is almost no interaction requested from the players, it basically felt like a very long cutscene. I still enjoyed it but I feel like I would have liked it much much more if there were more interaction.

I understand what you say and agree with you. There are many people like that.

Will we get to bang our moms?
I'm afraid that's never going to be an option now.

Such a thing was on the devs mind but because some changes in Patreon guidelines that's not going to be possible, they even got forced to release a small patch to add some changes to the game to avoid issues with those news guidelines, some of these changes were precisely related to the protagonist and his "moms".

it's never the issue what they communicate. all milkers and scam artists have a neverending supply of plausible excuses, it doesn't mean shit what they say on discord or anywhere else. the issue is always that after the updates start slipping nothing they say has any credibility.
