I have a few gripes here.
tldr at bottom
I really really want story. A reason for the fucking. A relation of some kind. A good build up isnt sleep raping someone, and then they love you. A good story can make me play gay games. It can make me play vore or watch a scat scene. A good story with good interaction and the fetish at hand is digestable even if usually a no go. Ive been surprised a few times at what I would accept or endure as long as its well told.
Freedom of choice. This means that if I want a dominant scene here, but a sub there... Its my choice. Locking me out of a choice like that, with only being able to run an entire game as either or, and never both or none.. makes me dislike the game almost instantly.
Is there a girl I dislike?, I do NOT want to have to do her, because the furthering of the game is locked behind her content (usually in the form of = to get this item you have to get this girl to fuck you zzz). Both are lazy as fuck gating.
Hornztown is one of the games that even when handling it fluidly with sub/dom/gay/straight, its extremely punishing to actually play it fluidly, and that removes freedom of playing. The more you do an option apparantly the more you ONLY want that thing, No, i was just playing that questline, and now i have to spend 2 gaming hours reversing the "fluidness" so i can do what i want, rather than being gated away from it. I sincerely love that game, but how it handles this, makes me not want to keep playing it, because Im not free to actually be fluid, im being punished for it instead.
Actual choice impact story. Half the games that boast choice matters, only have exclusion choices. Aka, you can choose between these two girls, you cant have both, but you can play the game more than once to see "all" content. WHY? Choices should have story impact. And if choosing either girl only impacts what fetish they add, by gods dont ever do it. Id prefer you didnt include ANY choices at that point. Choice matters is, how does my interactions with a person end up. Do I grow my MC into something usefull/useless, either choice works depending on the game. Can choice exclude content yes, but if its the entire point of the choice, then dont add it. UNLESS its story critical.
A game that handles exclusion choice well, is dating my daughter. It makes sense that you have a one night stand with one person, and not 3. BUT on the other hand it absolutely handles choice impact poorly with that exclusion. Youre told it will have an impact... thats it, and then 10 updates later an impact happens that REALLY makes you think, so what now.. I would have prefered the other option (because at the point of the choice the only thing you have to decide from = which girl would you fuck the most, its literally all the info you have). Oh yeah... replay the game? no thanks. Then dev comes back and realizes yeah, that didnt work out well, so you can now choose later what your at start of game choice was. I know that linear games are very hard to make with impactfull choices, and linear games are the easiest to make, so thats why the exclusion "choice" started to make an appearance as it ads "gameplay" so to speak... even though its pretty much the very opposite, and removes content from that gameplay.
Moderation: This one is tricky. I do like sometimes to play games that go full out on the fetish side, but oh so many of the games do not have any selfmoderation when going into a fetish or even creativity.
Here is a pegging scene, and halfway through youre being degraded humiliated beaten feminized chastity-caged and pissed on. Those are very very different fetishes. Each and everyone of them. But in porn games, youll get at least three of them when either is an option.
There is rarely ever a medium or even light version. There is a destinct lack of "exploring" sexuality rather than full blown 20years a veteran extreme over the top fetishism. An instant forget feelings exist, and love of each other or the fetish/act are absolutely nonexistant, even in games where building a relationship first is a main part of the game. Man of the house by faerin handled light bdsm and loving domination pretty darn well, another that didnt go over the top was Cure my addiction, which handles bdsm/paddling/spanking pretty well (and i actually hate anything including giving/reciving pain), including the impact and effects of it, and a rather slow climb to more complex situations.
The 90% of all MCs or gay guys have monster cocks. Not just very well hung and would proudly do the helicopter everytime i get drunk dick, but the when you deepthroat me, ill be deep inside your belly, the "im tickling you tits from the inside when fucking" size. Breastsizes that would stagger a giant, and arses that are the size of a full blown maze for dwarfs. Ofc there should be bimbo games, and bigdick games, but its overly abundant to the point of me starting to opt out of them and only play those with very very very great reviews to offset the immersion break.
I know i write too much and too long so here is the tl:dr:
Story and interactions, rather than abundance of scenes.
Freedom of playstyle: Gating out options. ex either youre dom or sub, but never able to do both in same gameplay.
Impactful choices: Less of the choices that removes content, aka either this or that girl that implies choice, but preferably story impact instead.
Moderation: Too heavy into fetishes when they finally get portrayed. Too many different fetishes at once, huge anatomy etc.
