I'm surely in the minority here, but since I try to give every game protag a different name I'm actually mildly annoyed with having to come up with a new one every time, I wish a name would be already given and only warranting customization if the player desires so.
As it is, I google lists of english names and pick the ones I find appealing.

If I cannot not name them then I always name them Dick :]. Seems appropriate. But it really annoys me when dev makes me to name my character and doesn't allow to just go with default John Doe or whatever.

Most Games give the option of using the Default Name. Try this" pick a name you like and keep using it in the games you play after a time you start to connect better with the MC in each game.

If it's a male MC, I'll usually just use something like "Wanna Fuckemall" as a name. At least it's honest!
A female one's more complicated (predictably). If there's not a tiny restriction on length for the first name I'll usually go with Annabelle, I like naming my characters after spooky dolls. If not, Alice is a nice name that's been used in scifi and horror movies for decades.

That is somewhat accurate. Using one's own name can be immersion breaking. Eroge games are like any game in that it is a fantasy world with fantasy situations and dynamics. The games we choose to play reflect, at least in part, our version of the ideal reality. That can be anything from tormenting a woman, to being mercillessly riddenn with her strapon, to living in a (Somewhat) lighthearted and warm rpg world.

Depends on my mood. Sometimes I use my name, usually I default to Astaroth 'cuz it sounds cool and I'm not very creative, once in a while if I'm feeling spicy and the name field is long enough I'll go with the ol' Barry McCockiner or some variant. 'Chainsaw Cock' also serves to make some sex dialogue VERY amusing, but has the downside of making me sound like a serial killer. So I usually just go with my name or Astaroth. It's nice to get called by name by characters I like, so I've been doing that more often lately.

Lets say I am playing Corruption or Glassix... not using my real name because consent is fuzzy and I dont want to "relate" with the MC. I want it to feel more like an interactive movie than an RPG. I am playing interactive porn and not a HRPG in that sense because applying my own name makes me feel like the later...

Asathoth and your own name sound like good ideas for MC names. As for "Chainsaw Cock", that sounds like the name of a character in a guro h game.

I never thought about a player using their own name connecting them to their character. I enjoy reverse-ryona and reverse-r*pe.
If a more powerful woman dominates and has her way with me... Perhaps this would be a good way of feeling the experience of getting taken by her.
