I find I enjoy games that slow burn, but just like real life it sometimes depends on my mood. But slow burn to milk donations and then canceling a game. That just chaps my hide(In a bad way). I also sometimes get annoyed at games that have sex within the first ten frames, unless it's just a hook.

There's a fine line between slow burn and admitting that you have nothing interesting to offer in your game besides the sex scenes, so you have to withhold them as long as possible to keep your blueballed playerbase around.

There are plenty of games that have full-on sex very early on but continue successfully, because they know where they're going and how to keep their game interesting without withholding sex.

The slow burn is good when you see the progress being made between MC and the love interest towards sex. Haley's Story is really good at this for example. No sex yet (my MC hasn't had sex with anyone yet, but there are a couple chances with other characters) and its one of my top games easily.

If its pointless drag out content, then its not good. It shows the dev doesn't have any plans on what to do post-sex, so they drag it out for as long as possible.

For me, there are 2 paths that I like. The main one is to dominate/corrupt/mind control everyone. Basically power fantasy. My favorite is when you do that to your family.

Second is hard NTR. Not really into female dom or western style cuckolding though. Japanese games do this quite well. The game really needs to be all about NTR for this to work though. Not the optional stuff that are thrown in. If its a game where you can choose to be the dom or be NTRed, I will generally pick the dom route.

Romance and vanilla stuff is like the most boring genre. I can enjoy some vanilla games if its really well written like Acting Lessons though. Incest romance is even worse than normal romance games for me. It takes all the fun out of the taboo, and makes for a very uninteresting and non realistic story most of the time.

DMD tried to meet the needs of one group of players "immediate satisfaction" by having sex with other characters while attempting to do the longer romance route with D. But the father's repetitive inner conflict was a overdone, throw in some political argument, and it distracted a little too much from the romance that was there. Mind you I'm old, and I've dated women half my age... there is some inner conflict even w/o the incest aspect which would make it worse. But its a breaking point "ok i'm doing this" not questioning every single step. but then again I was fighting the girl off, not trying to convince her, so DMD was a more complex story.

I had assumed that women were more interested in romance than men but these results would seem to indicate otherwise, or that there are more female pirate perverts than I would have thought Then again this is also a pretty small sample size.

Might be interesting to know what the responses would be if you had to pick only 1 or 2 options. Those first three options are close enough in the rankings that I bet a lot of those picked all 3.

Regarding these type of genres. I like it when a developer gets intimacy right, which is sadly rare.
I will be a bit pendantic and say romance and intimacy isn't the same thing (not that anyone said it was). Romance is (also) defined as a part of the "courtship ritual" (in this context). Effectively the bullshit (unromatincally the evaluation process) building up to intimacy. Being open and trusting in each other, while being knowledgeable about and considerate towards each other in a sexual relationship. I imagine it's difficult to write without them seeming like complete morons or having paper thin personalities.

Is there a definitive reason why a man would not be interested in seeing a romantic storyline happen? I don't see why this would indicate anything about the male to female ratio of this community, as plenty of women I know are kinkier than me, and I'm a pretty twisted fuck.

So, if a scenario is unlikely enough that it requires some sort of force (such as a son trying to dominate his mother), I'd still rather create a blackmail scenario than a mind control one.

I've said before that I think a compelling erotic mind control game can be made, but it requires good writing and a more nuanced portrayal of such abilities. Little nudges that move Mom past the various sticking points that would pop up, rather than one zap and Mom is face down, ass up at the dinner table.
Harem anime regularly portray a schlub main character who stumbles into a bevy of beautiful young women who rapidly get hung up on him. Now, the MC typically behaves heroically under pressure, is actually pretty considerate of the womens' needs here and there, and is usually the most loyal and reliable character in the anime. They also tend to be either deliberately romantic or inadvertently so. So I think it is possible to have a romantic path in a harem game, even if it's porn. But it's going to be a kind of "magic realism" or the realism of a fairy tale/melodrama rather than anything resembling real life. In real life unexceptional teenage or young adult men don't typically assemble or attract groups of women who vie for his affection.

I would say that seduction ultimately works in her favour.
Corruption on the other hand doesn't, it "destroys" her.

Objectively, they can seem similar: untouched virgin => experienced mistress.
But the intention is diametrically opposed.

Romance can work with seduction, but not with corruption or any of the other options.
