So I'm curious. What do you personally hate in adult visual novel? It not necessary a bad thing, just that you personally don't like it or just nitpick. For me its there thing:

- Game that give you no choice and forced you into relationship/ sex with everyone. I'm not asking for alternative route because I know it will take a lot more work just a simple choice to not flirt/sex with a certain character then skip ahead. I'm fine with having less content. If you happen to like every girl in the game then good but if you don't like a certain character. Your only choice is either stop playing the game or grin your teeth and bear through it or hold ctrl to skip that part.
Some good example of this is: Freeloading Family, Echoes of Lust
Example of game do this right is Sister Lust. In this game if you want you can be a saint and not have sex with any of the girl and just being a good son and brother.

- Unnecessary dialogue showing the MC thought. Many game have dialogue for MC inner though about what happen, what he about to do...etc. In many case I think its unnecessary and a wasted of time. We already know the story by playing the game. We don't need the MC recap in his head about it.
For example in the game Melody the MC get up in the morning and thinking in his head. What a great last night with Melody. I'm gonna go take a shower then make a breakfast then go meet up with Sophia. Afternoon I will have a dinner with Becca. Well, we player already know what happen last night and why not just show us the shower scene then skip to the breakfast scene. No need for the MC inner thought dialogue. Yes, in Melody the MC do that twice every fucking day. He woke up thinking about all that then before go to bed he do that again. I still love the game and this is just nitpicking but still.
Similar case is when MC see a hot girl and there is a dialogue about his thought: Wow, this girl have a great tits. How about let us player be the judge of that. We're role playing as the MC after all. No need for dialogue about MC thought
Example of a game that I think do this perfectly is Unleashed. There is very little to no inner thought dialogue in the entire game. Everything is in the render. Pictures speak louder than words.

- Immature and overly pervert MC. Example: Max in Big Brother, the MC in NMS. Its not really a bad thing but I like more mature and less pervert MC.

-Game that have girls with ridiculously huge breasts that defy reality and physics. Not a bad thing and more like a matter of taste. I prefer small and medium size
example:

2.jpg

I prefer smaller size like this :)
3.jpg
14.jpg

- Shoving Milk down your throat. I'm lactose intolerant so I really don't like it. Similar like the first one but I want to talk more specific about Milk
Many developer seem to obsesses with force the MC have sex with a Milk. For example In the game Where The Heart Is. Although you do have choice to not date the mother. She and her friend is still practically begging for the MC dick. I have to reject her multiple time until she finally let me alone. I'm not complain though since its still avoidable. In another game called Timestamps the mother also begging for MC dick and although you being given a few a choice to reject her at the early game you still being forced to have sex with her and her friend anyway. I just skip through whole that stuff. And don't get me start with Milky City.

PS: I'm not criticize any of the game mention above. They're just there for example about my opinion. I already play through most of them and even be a patron of some author. They're all great game and you should play it unless you have the same nitpick as me then we should be friend :))
Lastly, sorry for my broken english. I tried my best to make it short but it still end up with a wall of text :(

Two things I don't like:
Game that has many girls but none of them have pubic hair. I know people like shaved girls but put at least one of them for us.

DAZ default nipples. I always found them ugly. There's so many option now for third party nipples, devs should use them.

There's a lot of visuals I might not like, but usually you can spot them in the preview images.

My biggest annoyance is the need for mandatory walkthroughs. Some VN's just flat out give you a game over screen the moment you pick a wrong option. Other games are more insidious about it and hands you out points, which you have no way of tracking, and lock you out of the true ending if you don't have enough points.
If picking the wrong thing just gives me less content, then I would rather just have there be no choices at all. At least that way I can get to relax and just enjoy the story, rather than trying to guess what the creator wanted me to pick.

Lancaster Boarding House is a great example of the annoyance you listed here. The walkthrough for that game has so many numbers it looks like a financial document...

I know a lot of folks get annoyed by:
"You are 'MC', a young man whose parents separated in your youth. After your father's funeral, your mother invites you to live with her and your (banging hot) sister(s)... Will you be their protector, or choose a darker path?"
This is probably the most common incest cliché I've seen, although I do understand that it's rather challenging to come up with a BELIEVEABLE incest origin story.

For me personally, I'm not much a fan of the MC's horse cock being an agent of character development... By that I mean every girl (including virgins..?) who sees your cock immediately gets soaked and starts drooling, regardless of underlying motives, desires, feelings. I understand the appeal of a big dick, this is porn after all, but using it as a cover for lazy writing is sadly too widespread. Also on a related note, some of the ridiculous huge dicks are just silly (WVM springs to mind. If I recall correctly the dev actually went back and ENLARGED it, for reasons unbeknownst to me).

It's just the opposite. There's an oversized dick at first because dev got wrong some parameters or whatever, then he shrank it and will redo those first monstruous renders

I'm not a fan of when games hide content without telling you that it's happening. I'm here for the porn, I shouldn't need to install a walkthrough mod to figure out which sequence of interactions I need to get the porn. I won't replay the game to see the stuff I missed unless the game REALLY blew my socks off. If the story needs to diverge, at least tell me that it's happening.

Also, comical body proportions. Dicks the size of Bad Dragon horse dildos. Breasts larger than your head. Doesn't do anything for me.

It also slightly bugs me to see a massive wall of tags like the developers wanted to throw in more stuff than the C++ compiler. I call them "kitchen sink" games. Figure out what elements are at the core of your game and execute those well.

Clothes. A lot of females in adult games dress like sluts/pornstars and the game expects you to take them seriously.
I'm sick of school settings where girls wear booty shorts and shirts tied under their chest with exposed bellies and a lot of cleavege.

Girls can still be attractive even when they wear jeans and long sleeved blouses/sweaters or hoodies. Leave something for the imagination.

Oops, thank you for the correction! Sorry about that, I recalled there was a switch, but I was mistaken on the direction.

"What small little thing you personally hate in adult visual novel?"
Bad writing. These can include, but not limited to, grammatical errors, misspellings, and continuity breaks. Doesn't matter how good the game looks or plays, the simple fact is bad writing is bad writing. It will immediately remove my interest or immersion to some degree without fail. For a visual novel,
the text that conveys the story is the "meat" of it, and is a criteria that should be placed much higher on the list of priorities a developer tackles. It is *by far* my number one reason why I won't revisit certain games.

Bad writing kills games.

Technical small things

- Not having the default UI on the bottom of the screen.
- Not allowing rollback. Pain in the butt, why do this?
- When the game is done, it goes straight to the main menu without warning. You need to chance to save the game.

Other things.

- "Filler text". Text that just exists to describe everything the MC is thinking, you don't need a two-hundred word paragraph of the MC talking to themselves in their head. MrDots games are like this, although I do like those games but I sometimes just click through that stuff. Haley's Story is a good counter to this, the dialogs are fairly short and there aren't deep thought monologues, it's more realistic and more enjoyable to read.
- Inconsistent character development. Characters should do what their personalities allow them to do, at that specific moment in time. A sweet and innocent girl shouldn't become a cum-dumpster overnight, this is why most NTR games are so terrible.
- Overly perverted MC. When I was a teenager, I wasn't anywhere near as perverted as these MC's are. This also leads to a ton of filler text showcasing how mental MC is. This also applies to other characters when they see MC's dick.
- Over sized boobs and dicks. The girls in the OP are in the very upper range of what I'd call ok, anything bigger should be reserved for bimbo specific games. . Sophie in AWAM is what I'd consider a good size for the larger chested characters to be. Large, but still realistic. Not every MC needs to be Mandingo, MC in Become a RockStar is probably as big as it needs to be.
- Gameovers. I understand the concept of gameovers, but to me it's a waste of time to make them. It's literally a dead-end path.
- Too many paths and too many girls. This may seems like a good idea, but it often becomes to big too handle and it leads to either game abandonment or poor development, either the development timeline itself or the characters/story in the game.
- Bad sandbox. Bad sandbox is a total waste of time. Grindy, boring and a pain in the butt. I'm looking at you Foot of the Mountains.

Probably more, but these are the ones I can think of now.

Extra clicks or excessive clicks.
Hidden menus that vital to playing the game.
Vast expanses of emptiness that I have to walk-simulator back and for through for no apparent reason.
Uneven development of design or assets.
Options that never do anything yet are left in the interface indefinitely.
Confusions between additive modifiers vs multiplicative modifiers.
Games that slow everything down so you have to play a real-time simulation where the real-time simulation doesn't serve any game design or narrative purpose or serves a bad game design purpose like "balance" or "realism".

Two small things that are closely related that I personally hate in adult visual novels: a points system and character likes/dislikes.

Points systems turn an otherwise immersive story into a game; I don't pick the choices I want because I fear getting locked out of content so I have to min/max my choices, which again doesn't make any sense in a visual novel because I'm here for the story. It also clearly projects that most of your choices have no real impact on the story because the routes and scenes you get are based off of the number of points you got, not from each individual choice leading up to those. For example, I can suck up to a girl all game long and tell her to fuck off at the very end but still get stuck in her route because I have so many points with her.

Character likes and dislikes such as musical taste, favorite colors, and hobbies, especially when presented in an extremely on-the-nose way, is a really stupid concept. I barely give a shit about people's likes and dislikes in real life, what makes you think I care about a fake character's? It's just extremely trivial information that doesn't do anything for the story and doesn't get me any harder for that character.

Bad writing kills games.
Here's an extra point since I got triggered by this guy (bite me, I'm an angry, bitter person today): I hate when people say a game has amazing writing when what they really mean is the writer has a good grasp of English grammar and vocabulary. Good writing means your story has good pacing, meaningful themes, impactful dialogue, compelling scenes, and good purposeful conflicts that align with your themes. Bonus points if you include elements of foreshadowing and irony in your story. Let me give you an example to drive home the point. The Twilight book series written by Stephenie Meyer has great grammar and vocabulary but the significant majority of people would NOT say that those books have good writing. All the best writers have editors but you wouldn't say that the editor makes their writing great. No, the editor just makes sure that the grammar doesn't interfere with the experience. Anyways, I've tried many visual novels touted by others to have "amazing writing" only to be greeted with a shitty story that has proper grammar and high school level vocabulary. Seriously, some of the games I've played with "great writing" make Twilight look like Game of Thrones compared to them.
