What's sorely missing from NSFW games that you should be much-MUCH more prominent

Difficulty.

I want to play a game that actually demands some skill from me, not a walking simulator or a slideshow that has a difficulty curve purely based on grinding/farming.

Yeah, if you're gonna do a fancy money system for your VN, then also make a fancy way to earn it. Not just pressing a button to "work" at the convenience store. Or if you'll do a boss enemy for your RPG, then force the player to use strategies in order to defeat it, not just a normal enemy with more HP and ATK.

100% lesbian games and games where you can turn a straight woman (ideally a curvy milf) lesbian. Preferably involving some BDSM. Mysterious woman in black dominating a milf, that sort of thing.

Cyberpunk and steampunk setting, also some postapocalyptic ones, basically anything different from boring contemporary settings.

More powerful characters, especially when it comes to dominant lesbians, but for other protagonists as well. I'm fine with starting at level 1 in regular games, but in porn games, you should be able to start at a higher level.

Maybe some combat scenes, just to show off power. Smashing a few thugs to pieces before returning to your lesbian harem.

Actual gameplay, as in, it's just as much fun to play as it is to fap to.

The only ones I've played so far that stand out in this regard are the old Dragon Knight games made by Elf back in the '80s and '90s. (I really hope those games get translated someday, perferably, in the near future) That's not to say that all the modern games play COMPLETLY awfully, It's just that those games really raised the bar IMO and visual novels and generic fetch quests start to get a little bit old after a while.

Some more character and story depth (I know it sounds weird but hear me out) would nice too.

Much as I like watching cute girls getting fucked silly while their tits bounce around, I really appreciate it when Eroge creators take that extra time to make them feel like actual people, with their own hopes, dreams, and motives, that you forge intimate bonds with.

And it's rather nice to have another goal to reach besides sleeping with as many girls as possable, even if it's your generic "save the world from an ancient evil monster" plot from every classic JRPG ever, as long as it's executed well, it's at least something.

Erotic games don't HAVE to have a big world to explore, or a deep\well written story, for me to get enjoyment out of them, but I really do appreciate it whenever that extra effort is put in.

This is a far more petty thing then the other stuff I've talked about, but while there isn't necessarily anything wrong with having your average high school teenager as a main character, it would be a nice change of pace to get to play as a stone cold, swole as fuck, 80's action movie or oldschool sword and sorcery style badass from time to time.

I rarely see developers maximize the value of boobs & nipples. Many games have females with big/nice shape of boobs and delicious nipples, yet the MC rarely play with them. When sex happen just straight to sucking cock, vagina or anal play, even foot play. Mostly boobs only to be use for boob jobs. I think it's due to European porn culture, they're focus on cock, vagina & anal. Meanwhile in JAV porn, we will see they play a lot with the boobs & nipples, before down to the genital play.

Well. I think it lacks of good old harem games, without that whole NTR stuff. Especially some with a good story. The fantasy is nearly unlimited, yet I started so many different games and most of them all tell the ever same stories. That's somehow weird. Uniqueness is possible, but everyone seems to avoid it at all costs.

Or on a somewhat related tangent games that have actual polly relationships, those seem to be strangely rare.

Since I mostly prefer corruption games I'ld say; The emphasize on how the corruption is progressing and the speed of it. Some creators do it unrealisticly fast, some do it super slow, enough for me to lose interest. Dating My Daughter is one of them although it was emphasized enough, it was really slow.. and uninteresting side characters with plasticy renders didn't help. Also I usually yearn for foreplay and groping but only if the graphics are good, most 3D games fail at that. (The Twist is the best I believe, only if it had more groping :))

For me the most glaring thing missing from most games is voyeurism scenes where the person doing the watching is female. From what I've seen, the vast majority of voyeurism scenes are either for a game based around a male MC who focuses heavily on peeping on others or it's based around a male MC who is a cuck and the game focuses on him being forced to watch his SO fucked by other men. I don't mind the first type, although I find that most games that focus on that focus on it way too heavily for my taste. The 2nd type I have zero interest in.

I'm probably going to interpret this a different way than most people but I wish more games just had good communication between characters, especially the MC. So many games would have no drama left if people just picked up a phone or just sat down and talked to each other.

If you have feelings for a girl, maybe tell her instead of waiting until right after she has sex with another guy. Or, if you're worried about how some action might affect your relationship with somebody, maybe just talk to them about it.

I know this pretty much a pillar of all fiction, I just wish it wasn't. I wish more games could come up with more creative ways to create drama.

For female MC games, agree they should have greater sense of agency/control on the part of the female MC. There's very few male MC games where the male has few or bad choices, can't initiate their own pursuits rather than simply respond to overtures from others, etc.
Incest games should establish the familial relationship first before the MC starts perving on them and trying to seduce them. Mind control games should have more nuance to the control.
Maybe some games where sex is a consequence of actions taken to fulfill some other goal, rather than sex always being the ultimate end of all pursuits.

It's quite obvious there's a saturation of H-devs who prioritize on H-content or have no capability or resource to work on game design. So, I want to see innovation for gameplay around sex. At the very least, the kind that makes sense and not restricted to "move here, see sex".

That said, it's kinda hard to fap with a pretty active gameplay. I'm at early development, hoping I can bring good ideas in my products.

A game that actually "taught" the player how to befriend and seduce people, and how to be a better lover, would be interesting.

Well, it's a bit difference between theory and practice. And if you take porn as general it's a BAD teacher when it come to reality. Tbh, be yourself and learn as you go. Also everyone is different so what works on one person doesn't necessary work on the next.

Right. So if you did a game with that premise you'd have to find out what works with each "seductee" or partner.

I'm a sucker for stories that have a badgirl corruptor type in there and it doesn't really matter to me whether the person she's corrupting is male or female or even whether they're corrupting the main character or a supporting one. That was the thing that really drew me to Babysitter. The dynamic between Jess and Christine rather than the one between MC and Christine.

Why do so many people want to see gameplay in visual novels? It's in the title of the genre, a novel with added visuals. If a creator is going to add other features, then it shouldn't be some tacked on mini-game but should go to serve a role in the greater narrative. I'd like to one day see a game that expands upon Teaching Feelings system where the ways you interact with the heroine determine what kind of relationship you have with her. It doesn't have to be the most elaborate system in the world, but it would be nice to have a system that allows me a small bit of meaningful interaction with the heroine.
