I think the slight annoyance and disappointment is that it's very lame and a very overused cheap trope...he could have done it in any number of ways...but no...went the way he did...time constraints or otherwise are utter bullshit....he never bothers about time constraints normally...

Come on, it's not complex. They are a group of people who share some bond, and in some cases somatic traits, who have lived together; And where the two eldest people have taken care of the other three since their childhood. It's a pretty common relationship.
In short, they are landlords and tenants.

The issue with the kinship changes is that the evil modder has retired, so any mod or patch that reinstates the pre-existing relationships will have to be done by some fanatic... with the disadvantage of never knowing if it will collide with elements of the history making it incoherent.

Not to mention that different modders saves are incompatible in between or with unmodded game. and if modder quits, your saves are worth noting... Like in SG, most saves from season one will be incompatible unless you played vanilla version. I always try to start a new game... And without mods. Easiest way and without any worries.

Really ? I still had some hope that they could come back, now that Patreon is more calm. Is probably more smart to not do so though, not worthy the risk.
