I don't think we know the full story/circumstances of William's departure from Wollust yet. The AVN is peeling back layers and presenting flashbacks that are small parts of a jigsaw puzzle we cannot yet fully understand, so I will reserve judgement for now.
I don't care one way or another about the i-cest, so I'm not gonna spit the dummy and proclaim the sky is falling in. I thought the rework would kill the relationship taboo/jeopardy entirely, so I was mildly surprised that Ocean gave an explanation/scenario that wasn't completely naff. If you don't find the new scenario believable at all, then get out in the world - there are plenty of places were people get murdered for getting in a relationship with someone from the wrong part of town, wrong family, wrong social caste, wrong religion etc.
He seemed to care because other countries do not give a fuck for the most part.

Can someone tell me how to enable the scrollback feature with the mousewheel, that is normally staple for renpy games? For unkown reasons it doesn't work with the latest patch and makes it super frustrating to play.

I used to support this game on Patreon and played it up until the first time it got reworked (when the characters appearances first got altered) but I had intended to try it again once the story progressed a little more although that may not be in my lifetime by the looks of it.
I had hopes of seeing the MC draw closer to the Mom and I was also intrigued by her "condition" (of not talking if that is actually still a thing) and how that was going to play out but if what I am reading about the incest being kind of phased out (or at least toned down considerably) then I probaby won't waste my time or my money on it anymore. I hope you guys get to enjoy something out of it. Best of Luck.
