I agree with both of you. I'll admit that I tried it way back in the single digit releases, don't remember which and it made no sense to me. Ruined the story. So, I removed it and never looked back.

I think it was more than 15 million and paid the rest to his lawer and minions to make sure there's no easy way to get the inheritance.
A deceased mother's best friend? Terrible way to make a remake.
By that I mean, it makes no sense why Monica would allow MC into her home and live in it?

Hahaha, we even still do not know for sure who the first gold digger is. Though some have made a pretty strong case for especially Bella being Dizzy, even for her there can still be plenty of doubts unless her conditions in the will at least partly opposes the stated conditions that would make MC and/or even Elaine loose their part of the inheritance. Then again, besides Monica, Katie, Jenna and partly Zarah (for each of whom it makes sense without his will condition they want to stay in contact with Mc if have good relation with him) we have seen nobody really working on or being interested in that MC would stay in contact with those girls.
Rest all prefer at least outwardly to have him for herself with both Bella and Elaine being quite insistent about that, and also including girls like Lilly, and Debbie mainly wants Lilly with a side of MC or maybe MC if she cannot have Lilly.

Hahaha, well let me keep the answer away from his posts and just address the incest thingy a bit for those who missed that in the past.
Thing is that devs have stated quite a few times that this game not only has no incest, but that the relation with Monica, Katie and Jenna was never intended as a real family situation and that to make it that way with a patch would ruin the background of the story and the devs for that reason actively opposed the patch.
Yes it was the purposeful intention of devs to give MC a closeness to Monica, Jenna and Katie of someone that had spent a part of his youth in their family when his Mom was still alive and has some brotherly feelings especially early game when comes to Katie and Jenna but not much son vibes when comes to Monica if def friendly ones, in the way he treats her. Well else his will condition would make no sense at all.
As I suspect that fact Monica is not MC's mom and that what happened between dad, real mom and Monica will be a part of the main story unfolding as well, I get why devs might have been pretty strongly opposed to that patch and say story (will) make no sense with it. (Actually the devs insistence and resistance to the incest patch is one of the reasons why I suspect that what happened in period around divorce between mom and dad and after will be important).
Besides making Monica MC's Mom would for sure remove any suspense or option that she might still be Dizzy in the end or somehow the other woman in game that would always be an antagonist whatever you do as MC.
(If you do that cheeky I promise I will not hate you, just might throw out a few curses before I calm down )Now could the story have made sense if Monica had been MC's aunt, maybe, but at this moment only cheeky and maybe Ace can answer that question until they lay their cards on the table and unveil all those thing they have kept hidden until now from us or veiled cleverly enough that all of us or most of us missed it.

Yeah, an aunt could have made sense but it's not necessary. If the only thing that appeals to people is the specific taboo of incest then there are a lot of other games to play.
Personally when I first played the game I saw the Incest Patch/mod and thought "oh, it's one of those situations". But once I read the information and thread I knew it wasn't supposed to be and the mod was just someone bending the game to fit their own desires.
I hope that this game won't drag on, feels like we are getting a ton of sex scenes with very little progress on the plot which, to me, feels like filler. As I've said before if the MC has fucked everyone and this game is a vanilla sex game then we've seen it all already. Obviously Elaine and Theresa were exceptions to that... Anyway, I know I am not the average perv and I am sure most people are thrilled to see it.

Well I for sure do not mind some of the sex, still that does not mean I am not interested in the story either and how it will all pan out in the end.
To be honest I am not completely sure whether Monica as aunt would work either when the story is fully told, it would at least weaken the options dad would have had to fully keep her out of MCs life especially if Mom had left a wish she would have taken care of MC after her passing and may also work badly with other reveals planned that we can freely speculate about to our(my) hearts content but only devs know for sure.Still the devs did choose not to make her an aunt for their reasons and possibly for even more important ones as patreon, so we will have to accept that anyway.
I've said it before: "Incest gives spice to a lot of games. But, there are a few, like WTHI, that it only harms the story."

It seems that many people here don't remember much from what they have played !
Fortunetely for me i have played this 2 two times in a week, the firts time i played as an asshole and the second as a good faithfull boy.
In this way for me the facts are wery clear, but i understand that people who have started to play long ago and have just played the updates, may be a bit lost after 3 years of development!

I love this game but my god the non stop one liners and sarcastic humor between MC and Katie is seriously obnoxious. But other than that it's pure gold.

I actually did enjoy Katie's banter at the start of the game, back when it was something fun that the two of them shared together. But then the writer's changed it into some sort of weird compulsion that Katie couldn't control, and it became a negative quality instead of a positive one. Her jokes became overused, tired, and dull. Her dinner date should've been something unique to Katie, but instead it was just a poor imitation of Monica's date. She should've been helping us set Debbie up with Lily, or dealing with the aftermath of what we did to Natasha, or being anything other than a one track joke dispenser.

Katie was so much more interesting at the start of the game. She was a well rounded and believable character. But now she's just an insecure joke bot in desperate need of new material. It's so bad that it's affecting other areas of the game now. The setup for Debbie and Lily was very anemic, which makes the foursome scene seem like pure fan service. I triggered the foursome even though I had rejected Lily several times, had done nothing to get them together, and had Debbie angry with me because she refused to believe that I wasn't interested in Lily.
Francois was fun the first time, but the second one was a disaster. It was too repetitive, it happened too soon after the previous scene with him, it took up far too much of the night out, and it just wasn't clever or funny. The only good thing about his third appearance in the game was how short it was. I can't stand him at this point, and I hope he never returns.
