Ironically enough I shut down Jo since I didn’t want to risk things with Jenna. Now I’m wondering if it’s too late to reverse that. I was still salty the way she went off on the MC when asked out, so it was easy at the time to reject her.
I'm salty we are forced to ask her out in first place or even tell Jenna about email.

I just hope in game #2 you don’t force people to go on dates with characters to move the plot forward, there are other ways to accomplish that goal. And having a game over for not wanting to date a character in a romance game seems counterintuitive.
And, I could be wrong, but the information the MC received from going on that date (besides dogboy) wasn’t useful. Perhaps it’s just me thinking it would be nice to have interactions that are just friendly and not dating...
I don't think it's all that bad for a protagonist to automatically accept a single date with someone in a VN about dating girls. I think it starts to become a problem when the player has no input in how the date goes or how their avatar felt about it. If the game is devoted primarily to a single main LI, or if the game is purely linear, well, at least the situation should be clear early on: either that's the player's cup of tea or not.

But if the if the game is supposed to be about picking a path with various girls (or guys!), that's when I think we need some real control over how our MC proceeds once the potential LI has established her availability. For the most part I think this game does that perfectly well. Zarah comes on a little too strong even after being told no multiple times, though that does fit her character. And I would suggest auto-accepting plot vital dates rather than giving an instant game over "option."

That or make the game over more of an event, a la the old Sierra death messages.

The forced date with Jo has already been confirmed to be a newbie mistake by the dev so why continue talking about it, besides a date can be friendly or just plain business aka gathering info on sender
Agreed. Sometimes I feel like people are taking things waaaaaay too seriously for a porn game. It's still just a game. We are simply pretending to be the MC who is pretending to go on a date to gather information in this fictional porn video game. It's silly how this whole thing is just over such a minor issue too. The forced date is exactly just that, a date, it's not a forced relationship. If the term date is such a big deal, just convince yourself that it's a business meeting instead.

It's mind-boggling how some people could be all like "oh dev please make the game the way you want it to be so it's true to your vision" but also the very same people would go "I don't like the way you do something so next time don't do it again". Make up your mind.

That must be a hardware issue on your end. Doesn't mean that animations are bad.
Considering each update takes several months and animations take anything from 1 to 3 days for a single scene on top of the dev not being an animator we'd go from maybe 2 month wait to 4 or 5 for animations not everyone gives a shit about.

Waste of time and effort for too little gain.

Another way to look at is repeatedly telling your friend you aren't interested in random stranger. Then they say ask them out or I'm never talking to you again.

So you make a decision. You don't ask the stranger out, well your friend is never talking to you again (game over). If you want to continue talking to your friend, then ask the stranger out on a business meeting understanding that you aren't making any commitment to the stranger and simply doing so to appease to your friend that you value enough to the point that you'd be doing something that you wouldn't have done if it were up to you.

It shouldn't be a game over, at worst it should kill any option to romance Jenna.
