I just hope in game #2 you don’t force people to go on dates with characters to move the plot forward, there are other ways to accomplish that goal. And having a game over for not wanting to date a character in a romance game seems counterintuitive.
And, I could be wrong, but the information the MC received from going on that date (besides dogboy) wasn’t useful. Perhaps it’s just me thinking it would be nice to have interactions that are just friendly and not dating...
I don't think it's all that bad for a protagonist to automatically accept a single date with someone in a VN about dating girls. I think it starts to become a problem when the player has no input in how the date goes or how their avatar felt about it. If the game is devoted primarily to a single main LI, or if the game is purely linear, well, at least the situation should be clear early on: either that's the player's cup of tea or not.
But if the if the game is supposed to be about picking a path with various girls (or guys!), that's when I think we need some real control over how our MC proceeds once the potential LI has established her availability. For the most part I think this game does that perfectly well. Zarah comes on a little too strong even after being told no multiple times, though that does fit her character. And I would suggest auto-accepting plot vital dates rather than giving an instant game over "option."
That or make the game over more of an event, a la the old Sierra death messages.
