Or do, and make it optional, like most other stuff. That way you get the best of both worlds - lesbian if you want it, no lesbian if you don't want it. And lesbian can definitely be more erotic than straight sex, it just depends on what you're in to.

Personally, I have found it better for my experience as a player, when the dev employs as many kinks as he wishes, that fit the main storyline, but then having the choice to "engage" with each one made abundantly clear by player choices, as in
FMC choice
"Kiss Sarah with passion" (Lesbian +2)
"Hug Sarah" (Straight +1)
"Sat Hi to Sarah" (No effect)
MC choice
When Jessica gets dressed for night out, encourage Jessica not to wear panties under her short dress
"Yes" (Exhibitionist +5)
"No" (No effect)
"Stop wearing panties at any time, even at work" (Slut +10)

This way, the story isn't affected substantially as the dev decides what kinks do or don't happen in their story, and they all remain optional for the player. I notice reviews and game longevity showing much better results with this tactic from a much wider audience.

I too, am of the opinion that catering to the wealthiest subs has seriously affected many titles found here, to the point that I cancel my subs many times out of frustration with the realisation that 10 top-tier subs can out-vote everyone else in polls, and some of those guys are sick, man. It will take time to produce renders...and if his update timeline is fixed ...it cannot give both straight and lesbian contents together within the same timeline or else update will be delayed everytime and story moves very slowly which will take years. As the story moves forward, there will be more n more lesbian contents and storyline that will take extra development time. Straight contents can be made more erotic/romantic too. There are lots of paths already on this VN swinging , cheating routes, cuck, faithful...Taking lesbian option out, it will be faster to work on cuck, swing, cheating, romantic paths.

Lesbian/gay/futa could be few fantasies but adding all of them will just delay all process and development time of the story. And whenever there will be an update dedicated to lesbian contents , yes there might be option to reject it but that update will make no sense for straight lovers.

Well yes. But you can also download pirated and free assets in some places too. I usually wait for like a 90% off sale in Daz store and buy what I need. So far I have spend more than $1500 on assets after discount.

Yeah the core storyline is not gonna be affected by voting. Even then it will be between options I feel that fits the narrative.

I am also thinking of creating some short side stories (based on voting) down the line. But this is when I can afford another artist.

Even giving top people the option to vote on which of two options you *might* take the story is too much. You need to add both as options for players to pick as they play.

As others have noted, some good games have been side tracked, or 'surprise' fetishes added to what seemed a game not focused on them due to high tier Patreons. I swear some of them are trolls just out to derail games when dev's are too weak to push back. Hell, even giving the top people the ability to have one path focused on over others could end up with a series of updates that cater to one path, which can and will kill a game, even if long term the plan is to flesh out everything.

People will abandon and ignore games when one fetish in a laundry list, or multiple path game, has more renders, story and scenes than other paths for more than one update or at most two. Sure you will get some that cling on in the vain hope things will correct over time, but 99% of games that start to focus on one path, when there are two or more, never recover before a good portion of their potential audience vanishes.

In any event, as a dev it's best to consider who your core audience is, and if you're walking a tightrope like with multiple similar but vastly different fetishes that could literally turn off a good portion of your audience if there seems to be favoritism, make sure you are equal and impartial in how the development goes. Never have one fetish start to blend into another one, because that causes all sorts of chaos.

EDIT: By the way, if the game is really going to focus mainly on one fetish even there are multiple options, please do all of us forum goer's a favor and actually list that in the dev notes, have most of the sample pics showing that, etc. There's few things worse than the OP implying there is choice in any game when there really isn't, and there never was a plan to. Sure, some games that's the 'hook', that illusion of choice, and most will learn to 'read between the lines' but it tends to make any game that has a 'hinted premise' more wary of even bothering to check it out, as a side effect.
