Are they still hiding stuff from each other, or are they being honest with each other about what is happening behind the scenes?
Its crucial for a sharing path....
and no, I don't wanna play a cuck path, and wonder just how far the loyal path goes without sharing, but I don't actually want to play a "vanilla" path at all really. A proper sharing path would be my ideal. And no cheating, because thats just NTR....

I am asking if they are telling each other what is happening to them with others, and any feelings they have about possible interactions with others. You know, open and honest.

I overall like this one but one gripe i have is that the love path is completely at odds with how the mc behaves and thinks. For anyone not into the nts side of things the mc acts like he is and i have to constantly fight against his natural urges to be a cuck. His behavior is just weird and inconsistent. Anybody who isnt into it would have had the simple reaction to the pool scene with Jessica as oh didn't know john was a cuck and walked away. The wouldn't have felt anything more than either grossed out or whatever they do in the own home is there business. I can absolutely say they wouldn't have gone out of there way to google a bunch of nts terms to learn more about it. The love path is more a path where the mc suppresses his natural instinct until he convinces himself he's not into it. It doesn't feel natural. He should of started out as a neutral character and then based on choices you make start leaning one way or the other. Instead he starts off as someone who is overcurious about it and i spend my time trying to convince him hes not into it.

This one has four possible male MCs. The sharing/cucking one, the cheater, the cheated and the vanilla faithful. Out of these four, only the first wants the wife to be non exclusive. The other three want the wife untouched. So when the nts MC is the default, any choice that goes towards the others make him look like a bi polar weirdo, fighting with himself. The whole game plays like the dude desperately wants to get cucked and I have to intervene and stop him every time. Which fucks, not only with the vanilla path, but also with the ntr.

Yes. If you have a sexy wife, this is the norm. It's also then the norm that she shuts them down. What's not the norm is a guy having a sexy wife then constantly trying mate guard, that relationship won't last long at all.

IMO the problem is so many games have normalized behaviors that would get you blueballed or dumped in real life. Thus some players understandably feel jarred when avn characters don't behave in the usual avn protag ways. You pretty much summed it up here, saying; "The dude is having novel feelings that are not jealousy (AKA cuckolding tendencies)" - as if the only two outcomes upon seeing such a situation are a jealous mc or a cuckold fetish mc.

However, I don't like inner monologues in general since they often lead to the mc describing feelings different than the player.

In the context of this game yes, it's either jealousy or cuckolding tendencies. We already know that's the scheme from the therapist and his thoughts were triggered by her words. Why pretend it's anything else when we know the type of game we are playing? He may be confused about what exactly the feeling is, but we have the full picture.

And no it can't be passed as simple exhibitionism because he specifically zeroes in on her interacting with other men and expresses interest (that is not jealousy) in that.

All other reactions depend entirely upon the level of trust they have for each other, and past conversations between the two about her feelings towards being approached.
There are a myriad of possibilities beside the two you cite.
Male or female....psyches are as complex and varied as each person's upbringing

I'm doing that for a specific reason that relates back to a more pragmatic discussion of the game in front of us. The game isn't primarily about a male power fantasies or cuckoldry, yet in your lens that's all there is. That completely dismisses the interests of probably the majority of the playerbase in one fell swoop.

In this specific game, for this specific character, in this specific situation, there is very legitimate reason to believe this nameless feeling he can't pinpoint, is an affinity for cuckolding/sharing. I genuinely can't see how anyone could perceive it as anything else, unless they were playing another game, or skipped everything until that point. One might have a flimsy excuse if that was their first ever AVN and had no clue, which I doubt is your case. As simple as that and frankly, I find it a very silly thing to argue about.

I am replaying today and making different choices to see different outcomes. My only complaint is there doesn't seem to be a way to turn off the save name choice so that I don't have to right click or press enter 2 or 3 extra times to resume the game. I hate naming saves.

Coincidentally earlier I had the same frustration and I like it faster with no savenames so I put together a small mod which adds a save naming toggle and quick menu toggle to the preferences menu.

Also:

-Changed the default behavior for escape to reach menu save/load page instead of prefs.
-Added F5 and F6 quicksave/quickload keys.
-Added keyboard shortcuts "q" for quest objectives screen and "r" for relationship score screen.

Just drop in the game folder, to remove simply delete the wodmod.rpy.

(edit- may not work with old saves, recommended start anew)

I will add that capability. I inlcluded the save name functionality to players can easily manage different routes and playthroughs.

Thank you!! I always just go by the pictures and just leave a blank screen between them and enjoy the easier game flow.
