It may eventually be to the detriment of the game, but until and unless we get any specific reasons coming out, my presumption is that it's just a case of choice. By having several different options (even for instance do you want to accept swimming lessons from Eric, or James, or no one?), it allows you to go for the partners you want, and to avoid the partners you don't want. Obviously not everyone will be available for everything though (I say "obviously", but that, of course, is another assumption!).
Well, yeah. My argument is that adding characters should be a last resort.

Developing an AVN is hard enough as is, expanding the number of paths, options, and combinations further complicates... well, everything.

Why add a new character for purpose Y when you already have a few that can be used for the same?

Neil is practically guaranteed to be cheating only, but the rest can easily be slotted into multiple roles, thereby saving a lot of resources in the long run.

Yes, that means players have fewer choices in terms personal preference, but I would also argue that there isn't much difference between the beach dudes and James when it comes to physicality.

Actually I'm pretty sure Neil is also on the sharing path too I believe. Unless Fable has changed his mind.

Actually some of these characters will be on every path (including Neil). But they will share many of the scenes. And adding more characters will can slow things down, but I want to make a memorable game as a whole with a lot of options.

Yeah, some initial progress has already been made to suggest his presence (as dev confirms above) on the sharing path. Alex suggesting Sarah send him pictures, etc.

Personally, I think it's doing really well in that respect. With the release schedule as it is, I don't think there's a "danger" of it being called too slow, as there's always something happening in every episode to tide us over while progression is building on the extra-marital paths. That makes it feel more "natural" to me.

I hope to see Sarah wearing that red dress in the OP picture as she dances with another dude at some nightclub one day. Alex would watch on my save, of course.

Except Fable already confirmed that the game will eventually take longer to develop, and will have to forgo releasing every 75 days to keep up with path demand.

He also promised more content with longer dev times, but I am (logically) assuming he means more content in total - even though the varied & complicated pathing will result in about the same (or shorter) play time per path itself in the end.

But if you play all routes you will have twice the content :WeSmart:

I hope that for those who choose the loyal path, the game will actually be interesting and not short, because in many games of this genre the loyal path is neglected, and the story just skips forward without any meaningful or exciting moments.

I usually pick the loyal path because I enjoy cock-blocking anyone who tries to touch my FMC — those expressions of shock and disappointment are fun to see. But in most games, that element barely exists; maybe there’s a little of it at the beginning, but then it gets ignored as the story goes on.

The loyal path is there, but the content wise it will depend how much freedom you give your characters. They will still continue to explore things together.
