I love the customizability, I've never seen this much outside of text based games
Looks really promising

Thx. It was bad variable planning on my part, back when I started the original version of this VN. Basically if you chose the Love path with the Artist Kelly, you didn't see that scene Olivia mentions at school - but the code was just checking if you still had content on for Olivia, which is on by default.Stumbled across what seems to be a bug in the beginning of chapter 2. I just dropped April's daughter off at school, and Olivia seems to think she saw me with a woman in the hallway, only.... that didn't happen. I don't know if this is a case of checking an incorrect flag or flags being set wrong or what (I haven't actually looked at the code), just thought I'd mention it.
Oh! Sweet!WhoremongerNTE-Act2.01Beta

Sorry for stressing you out. I'm just experimenting with ways to help promote my VN's. It's definitely not a unique thing as I have personally played dozens of VN's lately with much more intrusive ads and hyperlinks all over the place. It's also a minor shout-out back to F95 here, because this place has been a great resource for me and I doubt I would be even doing this still, without this forum.Okay, I have a complaint and I want to talk to the manager.
So, my dear dev - you might think that putting a clickable ad on the taxi in the Laura-Hans scene is a novel and brilliant marketing idea, but it's quite the opposite. Let me elaborate: stupid people - like me - might click it without realizing and almost get a heart attack, when the browser pops open on their (offline) computer. Then they might spend a better part of a day searching for a virus on their home network, getting annoyed - further increasing their blood pressure. Then - after a lot of wasted time and effort - finally figuring out what was going on, they might facepalm with such force to cause a minor concussion. Or you know, they might punch through their monitor.
Either way, you will end up with people who can't afford to support you anymore - healthcare and hardware are expensive - or just won't trust you enough/too annoyed to do so. The people this marketing tactic usually works on and not bothered by - the ones with dozens of toolbars - might not be the most optimal target for building a supporter base. (Well, they might be, what do I know?)
So please consider removing this 'feature' in the future.
I really enjoyed the game by the way - the main reason I bothered mentioning my issue.
Anyways, good luck with further development.
The name is pretty much explained in literally the first screen of the game. Whoremonger is a term from the Old Testament book Ephesians. It's meant to describe basically any horny fucker of the day. It's modern meaning is more someone who pays for sex. The MC was raised right and proper and he got fucked for that. Now he's living his life as he wants and he's exploring his sexuality with a woman who is/was a stripper. I chose this name because it resonated with me and my Catholic upbringing.I just recently discovered this game. I mainly downloaded it because of the tags.
The game itself is great. Lot's of build-up to what will turn out a lot of mother-daughter action.
But what I don't understand is the title. "Whoremonger" seems an appropriate title for a slave trainer kind of game. Now, the MC might still want to turn the appartment building into a brothel in Act 10 or something but as of Act 2 this title seems pretty much out of place.
The "New Testament Edition" part is even worse. The game has nothing to do with religion in any way, either positive or negative.
Given that this game has existed already for 2 years but this thread has only 25 pages seems to indicate it's not a hugely popular game. And I think that is more due to the confusing name than to the actual content (which I think is pretty great).
I will write a more elaborate review later but needed to get this off my chest...
Thank's for the bug report. That's the first mention of that one. The way I coded it, if you gave $20 or if you got food and also money just changed the Love or Lust path - but on both those paths, the MC tells Agnes his name. It's only on the path where he keeps walking that she shouldn't know it. But after your report, I looked at the code and yes, she says it just near the end of that scene. (which was where the game ended back in the original Act I version).Would also like to report two "bugs" I found.
But first: It's a really good game and I like it so far. Some times a bit too much too boring side story with no action or character development, but overall one of the better adult games I played. When the writing is not just about daily routines I really enjoy reading the scenes.
Now for the bugs:
1. When you meet Agnes the first time, she secretly follows you and we can see her thoughts. And she mentions the players name. Regardless of which path I choose. If I ignore her or just give her the 20 bucks the MC never tells her his name. So how does she know it? Only in her love path he mentions his name.
2. Not a technical bug, but much more annoying then the other one: The secret images.
... snip ...
Thanks for the explanation! I don't read the Bible in English, so...The name is pretty much explained in literally the first screen of the game. I chose this name because it resonated with me and my Catholic upbringing.
As for the NTE thing... I had abandoned this game when Patreon fucked me over, so when I resurrected it and completely rewrote the code and changed the structure to a pure VN, I chose the name NTE because it's like the more modern version of the term Whoremonger now... a New Testament version, so to speak.
If you don't get it.. you don't get it... it's just a title. I could have named it Bad Bobby Saga Redux XII or something, and it still wouldn't have meant anything.
ThanksI just fixed that so she won't say the MC's name if her path is still OFF. That will get pushed when I release the next update at the end of this summer (or early Fall).
Just tell you, that it will likely distract many from the well written story. I tend to overcomplicate my explanations, so that's on me, I guess. As for the secret images... not sure what you want from me.
I get all that. It was just how I experienced your game. And you don't have to change it, I just would very appreciate it.I did them just as a distraction and something for people to do if they are bored or what not. I eventually will be adding achievements to the VN and the code is already in the game to track those, but that's probably an update or two away. I didn't want to do the easy stuff that everyone else did (like those donuts or the little Polaroid photos a couple of games have). I toss out random 4K renders for my subs, so this was kind like an extra thing for the rest of you. I can't really code around your OCD to have to find them, if you know they exist. The best I can do is what I did for the last couple of ones in this release... I put them in a spot and then also hinted that it was important in the dialogue. If you actually buy the game from Itch.io or you sub to the lowest tier on Subscribestar, you get a walkthrough that tells you the locations.
Yeah, I also could unren it. But it just feels wrong for me. Even if sometimes annoying, I mostly want to experience a game the intended way. I use unren only if a game has a really bad story or is extremely grindy, but has nice visuals. I play porn games for a reason. Just looking at pictures isn't the same as having likable characters and a good story connecting them.In any case, there's always the person who will post the spoiler/walkthrough on here. I was actually kind of surprised it took so long for the first one though. A lot of people would just unren my VN and rip the images directly.
