at the moment I only know basic renpy programming, eventually I hope to turn it into a sandbox with more interaction and turn based combat.

Please add a note that you planned to have sandbox in the future update since I believe sandbox would be a dealbreaker to some people. With note about planned features you'd deter (some) complaints and those who interest will find your game easier.
