Is the itch io demo completely updated or does f95 need updated?
Itch and Steam demo are not the "full" 0.8.5.7 game, the map its another one smaller than the full one, i dont know about the content but seeing how big its the full map pretty sure demo its missing lot of content.

Btw: Yeah f95 needs update with Star ver which is the good one.

Game reeks of the issues that come with making a game in Unreal.

Horrifically unoptimized, LODs hilariously don't exist. You can have objects pop into existence from sprites (the well and farming plots are one) and the game requiring frame generation and Nanite on even decently powerful hardware. Black texture issues like the steps of towers leading to dragons, some of the armor and the table and chair.
I don't know how much of this is the dev's fault, vs Unreal just no longer being a good game engine if you have to worry about making it playable on normal hardware.

Other hand, conceptually. I really like it and I can see from the dev's implementation of features, no matter how janky, I can see where he's going and like the direction. The combat I like, but it needs major polishing, but it can feel satisfying when fighting one-on-one, and the building is good too with a solid basis for improvement and an actual direction to go.

Operational question - which may be dumb but could not find a mention in the thread - is it possible from storage (i.e. a chest) to take only some of what you stored. Example, I have 200 stones stored in chest, taking all of them ends up easily being over-burdened, when I only really want to take say 50.... but I do not see a why to take only some.

Has anyone seen what has changed between 8.5.5 and 8.5.7? I saw the update log, but it looked like it was a roll up update of everything in the last few versions, with 'some new stuff' salted into the mix.

I have noticed that the compass has been updated and actually shows nearby features, which is very nice.
I saw that when you cut down trees, the logs are auto collected, which is very, very, nice.
PETS! The summons actually work, so when you charm a monster and gain their item, you can actually summon or dismiss them. You can also actually command them to attack other monsters.
The fast travel way stones have been nerfed a bit. You actually have to be near one of the waystones before you can use it to fast travel.

I haven't run into any game breaking bugs and this time I didn't even nuke my settings folder, though I did start a new game on this version. The game still strips all of my buffs and debuffs when I enter exit a dungeon, but it isn't a crippling bug.

I haven't run into any game breaking bugs and this time
I agree about the changelog seeming more relevant to past updates, though there are some things that seem more relevant to this update. However, as far as game breaking bugs are concerned, there is one that I didn't notice in past builds. Initially it involved completing the dragon quest when you can mount the dragon and fly around. Last update fucked the dragon's ability to be controlled very well at all, but you could painfully still get it where you wanted it albeit primarily moving backwards, but that only worked if you could maintain altitude. However, this update you are basically fucked if you mount the dragon. Same broken controls, but now when you dismount you have lost ability to do anything more and can't even try a save/reload due to "player doing stuff" error. There is a way around this if you find yourself stuck with the dragon and haven't made a save recently. I dismounted over the targeted area while up in the air in hopes of getting killed so it would theoretically reset whatever was causing the problem, but the dragon fell with me and when I landed instead of dying the dragon started fucking me, which ended up fixing the bug anyway. So falling and dying might still work, I just got interrupted with sex which fixed it as well.
I thought the bug was limited to the dragon, but it also happened when I went into "camera mode" and tried to leave the mode with the "esc" key. Once again there is no saving to reload so you have to go back to a previous save. So be warned about mounting the dragon and camera mode. Might be more actions that cause this bug, but so far thats all I know. Save often...

Well, that's good to know.

I had actually traveled all the way up that mountain, picked up the collectable card there, activated the way stone (so I could teleport to it later) and completely ignored the dragon. I just didn't want to goof around with that dragon at the time.

Hmm, I may just have to go fuck around with the dragon now that you mentioned it. Game just doesn't feel right without running into at least 1 major problem. :p

Same, unfortunately, but fortunately some bugs do get fixed or improvements made that otherwise made it unplayable compared to a previous build. This is a bit like the pool boy cleaning the pool, but ruining the lawn. The lawn care specialists come to fix the lawn and ruin the fence in the process. Fence repair guys comes and fixes the fence, but busts a gas line... I mean its still progress, but it just doesn't always seem like it.

found a bug in the itch version where making a save then loading that save makes a copy of npc's and animals/monsters which seems like a very easy way to make the game run worse
edit: well that bug is still there on 8.5.7

Trying 8.5.7 - it's very nice now that build menu actually tells you what the build items are, which makes life easier than build & guess... So that's a step forward at least.

another operational question - is there a way to move crafted things like chests w/o destroying and redoing (as example find I placed a chest now filled w stuff and my placement is annoying me and it would be convenient to move it... perhaps a function I don't know?)

Technically, there is a function which would be able to do this, but it is not implemented yet. If you press "F" key (by default) there are a number of options from which to choose, each goes deeper into its menu. If you choose "Build" you can see the "Move" option there as well as "Not Implemented".
You are stuck, for now, with moving items manually and deleting. I should warn you about the deleting part. When you try to delete something that you built in a previous play session there is a chance of a crash. Deleting things as you go in the same play session doesn't seem to cause anything (and gives back resources), but so far I've crashed 4 times from trying to delete something I built previously (which doesn't give back resources). Meaning, build save quit reload delete crash. Don't be afraid to delete, just save often and especially before you start deleting old shit.

Ah yes - I had puzzled on why deleting something did not give back resources sometimes, but indeed those were older builds from a saved session and not in that session. I have had some freezes which probably related to that
Must be an effect of everything being rebuilt in some fashion when a save is loaded since it also resets spawns and similar.

I had forgotten about Build in F menu, pity for time being.
