its definitly not difficult for sure. One thing that has bothered me from pretty much the first public build are the eyes and how they don't actually look a the camera, surely it shouldn't be that difficult to have them target the pov camera position when switching to pov (when it makes sense,as in when she/he actually looks at you) given all the other insane stuff that goes into getting these characters behave and look like they do.
It's a bit of a turnoff when it looks like she/he's seemingly looking at someone else when the purpose of POV is to self-insert into that character.
when i looked steve doing some streaming, when he make some test and stuff, his engine (unreal) use some kind of a "ball", that he can link the eyes of the chars so that the chars will automatically look at the ball and follow it when he move it around. that's what he use to check for the eyes or to correct a bit some animations tweak.
i m pretty sure its possible when you are in pov, to kind of create and invisible ball (or the head that could turn invisible from inside when pov) with a script that make chars looking at it (your head) when you are at a certain distance of them or something.
guess they just want to concentrate more into the big rigging/scripting part of the game, dont mind to use robot chars, before starting to work on expression and others more life elements for the chars.
i guess its understandable if they plan to add only-god-know how much characters in the game before starting to work on the details like this.
i just hope the game is not going to be "30000 characters to choose to fuck" but more like "hero/MC and npc around" like it was initially planned.
its good to have chars, but too much chars is too much, whatever they are differents or not, humans or not. each chars also bring more power requirement, wich some players doesnt have.
