Guess it's time to unfollow Wildeer. Not sure why I didn't do it sooner, but I guess this animation seals the deal.
It just lacks any energy and is just quite boring to be honest. Slowed down loops, shown from different angles, with weird cut to black transitions.

I understand that it's just a WIP, but I don't think there are gonna be any major changes to it. Don't see why anyone would spend this much time to render something, if they still plan on doing big changes to the project. That would just take way to much time, but maybe that's what Wildeer is planning on, just another excuse to draw out the project.
nyl invited him for the 3-day challenge in 2022 and he finally delivered, hurray!

I get that the animation has no sound and I also get that Wilddeer not only takes way too long to produce content, but also makes bullshit, fake excuses as to why it's taking too long. I'd never give this guy my money, he's borderline a con-artist. I also wasn't all that interested in Gatekeeper before part 4, I never even understood why the series originally got people so excited. I'm the furthest thing from a Wilddeer fan. However, after checking out the newest release...

People complaining about the quality of the animation in part 4 have room-temp IQs. The comments on it in this thread make absolutely no sense to me - "too many fades to black" or "animating isn't his thing" - are you guys on fentanyl? Sniff too many sharpies in elementary school? Staring at the sun for fun in your free time? Smashing your head into your bro's head pretending to be a fucking Pachycephalosaurus and giving yourself CTE? It's 30+ minutes of top tier work. If you think this is anything less than A-tier animation quality, you are objectively retarded. Sorry, just the truth.

No idea what drugs you guys are smoking to think part 4 doesn't slap but I don't want any of it, that's not the good kush.

Gatekeeper and Halloween news
Hey guys!
Thanks for the lot of feedback. I will respond here, but I will leave the spoilery stuff for the end. But first some news.
We are done with the script. And I have already contacted the VAs and the sound designer with this. It took more time than I planned. But we are talking about 34 minutes of animation. As soon as I have specific information about the dates, I will let you know.
I'm already working on the Halloween animation. Due to lack of time, this year's video will be shorter. This will be a closing episode. We close the parts of previous years with this. Next year we will try something new with a new location and new monsters. Release on the night of October 31.
Back to Gatekeeper. The final animation and editing will not change much. Of course, bugs will be corrected. Small adjustment on camera angles. Two penetration scenes will be made more detailed. There will also be some close-ups of Lara's face and the Keeper's eyes. Plus post-production, effects, etc. As soon as there is information about the expected release, I will let you know.

Knowing how Wildeer works, I think the expressions won't change that much, since it will affect the fluids and a lot of things we don't give a fuck and will delay the release and it can be solve with a sentence like "it is big but it doesn't hurt (magical horse dick)."

At the end it will be just adding sound and some minor techinical things we won't notice.

I don't think he's necessarily bad at animating, but he certainly isn't much above average. Consider that good animators show the transitions and not just a fade to black with the next loop. Also consider the pace at which he works. Good animators get high quality shit done in a fraction of the time. How many times has Wildeer posted stuff about him not being able to figure out fluids or some other problem?

I think that his end result is usually good, and often fappable, but one animation per year does not a good animator make. Don't forget that he also slows the animations down to make them look better/smoother and to inflate the run time.

He's really good at lighting and has made a sexy as fuck model. His animating skills are not his strong suit.

On a technical level he's very good. However, he is also the posterboy for why most directors/animators/musicians/etc. need good editors and producers. Storytellers that know how to cut out the waste and make a film/track seem like it's longer than it is. This opus should be edited down to 16-18 minutes... 20 tops.
