They could have simply tried making a Centaur much like that of a Minotaur. Seen some games have used it and it works fine enough.

How is a strap-on any more difficult to rig? It's the same shape and the balls don't move. Unless there's animations of it being taken on or off or it's made so the straps aren't a perfect fit and would move around (why bother with that in a porn animation), a strap-on would be simpler.
