As a developer of these stores, can anyone tell me if they should remove all content from the site? Wouldn't it be possible to create an adult tab where is possible to pay only with other payments methods? Without deleting the entire library?

steam is also currently getting lots of heat from the payment processors for not doing enough to remove offending games. steam is too big to fall because of this, but who knows what will happen to their adult games

This is a great opportunity for some millionaire to put his fortune to good use and invest a tenth of it in creating a private payment method that actually grants financial freedom.

Today it's NSFW games, tomorrow it could be anything else you can think of for them getting out of their 10k King size beds in a bad mood. Creating a new tab is possible but that didn't satisfy the attacker.

For a while I thought the hate on gamers had faded a little, but now it's returning just because we absolutely despise what everyone is doing to media in general. Also, people that liked Cuties cannot claim to give a shit about kids.

Yes, itch is understaffed. That is one reason why they haven't enforced their rules as strictly...not enough people.

It's also the reason why the reindexing take time; only 30 reindexed yesterday. In the same time, it's to expect that the game that are still to judge are the less obvious (either in a good or bad way) ones, therefore they need to actually play them on a long run to be sure; something that obviously need more time.
It's also possible that there's ambiguous games, and that they opened a discussion with their devs. By example, I don't think that the game ever been on itch.io, but in WVM the MC have two moms and a sister, while being involved with his girlfriend's sister and mother. If they are serious, and they clearly became, before reindexing such game they'll try to be sure that this will not lead to incest scenes in the future.

People shouldn't be mad at itch, they're being forced to do it. It's the payment processors that need to fuck off.

Payment processors are guilty, but the are not doing this alone. In fact, I'm convinced they are far from being the actual masterminds behind all this. In my view, they are just acting as the mobsters who go around intimidating people so that they pay for "protection" (or, in this case, do as they are told). Do they benefit from this? I don't think so. In fact, I'd say it's quite the opposite.

I think payment processors either get pressured themselves to act this way or they are in bed with those who are interested in, and really benefit from, removing content from sites or diminishing its visibility.

This also goes beyond porn or certain kinks. It's not the first time we've seen it—over the past few years, people's bank accounts have been frozen and they've been given the boot from platforms just for "wrongthink" or guilt by association. This is just a variation of the same playbook, and the very same actors are behind it.

Well from a practical perspective in a place where people are told to use the search function first and some are looking for the term gay, using it to describe non-gay games does create misinformation.

Will they play them or have some asset ripper pull images for review and search for key phrases? Pretty sure the latter, because content can often be hidden or shipped with an easy mod to access.

Tools can only apply to unmodified Ren'Py, as well as RPG Maker and Unity games. To some extend they can works with Tyrano Builder and engines like KiriKiri, but there's still a large portion that will have to be played in a way or another.
Of course, even for Godot or Unreal you can use a tool that will hook to the input and output. But you'll have to build it yourself, something that will need more than few days.
