Just a quick FYI- Unzip the game using the Unarchiver, and you don't have to enter in any commands.. and this is on Mac!

So I keep trying to play the combat minigame legit, but Amber keeps flying off the space map and I can't scroll far back enough to see her so I can't fire at her and can't win the game... I think, anyway. And I have too much pride to lose my first training match. Am I doing something wrong in some way?
Right click hold and drag as well to move the map view.

If you chase behind them, move a little to the left or right and you can steer them a bit.

Keira has a lot more going for her like being the resident redhead and being this timeline's member of the Irvine family like dear Molly.
Should we be worried about her dancing for extraplanar creatures in her spare time?

They're a little tough to see through the bodysuit but they are DEFINITELY gonna be spectacular
Wouldn't it be dangerous to aim so high in the hierarchy?

but Astrid's abs are my favorite, followed by Arya then Keira.
Always suspected that Droid what is a Dev of culture

I have a feeling that our MC will be quite a way up in the hierarchy at some point.

It's war and Rome wasn't led by weak people in time of war. The people running things now have done so in a time of relative peace with only small skirmishes and conflict kept in single locations.

A lot of those on the totem pole of leadership won't survive the opening salvo of a full scale war.

I have a feeling it may play out similar to Love of Magic. Our dear ambassador running things with the MC as her right hand. Pretty much how the MC of LoM was the right hand to his wife, the Queen of Camelot.

So can we forget a peaceful retirement with a small vineyard?

So be it

Aim high, folks. Aim high
All right! So let's use our contribution to the battles and Valeria's influence to be appointed Dictator to manage the war against the Commonwealth, after which we can use the fame we've achieved to become Emperor... we just need to find the WoE equivalent of a dragon to get rid of certain opposition from House Aurelian.

I can't believe it took me so long to find the public release on F95, but I've been following on Steam since day 1 of development and damn, this game rocks! Anyway, I'll follow it here from now on. I bought a Steam copy to support Droid Productions, but I hate playing with third party apps running in the background. I briefly skimmed the comments and didn't notice anyone asking about experience points... For the life of me, I haven't been able to figure out how to spend them. A little help would be appreciated, or maybe it's not implemented yet?

Anyway, I'm lovin' it, Droid!

Not implemented yet, it's on my near future list.

One other question. I'm a bit OCD where it comes to things adding up. So..., MC says he followed his Dad's footsteps and joined the Legion at 18. He was a Legionnaire for 7 years, and then 2 years at the Academy. That adds up to 27, not the 31 years he claims. Even if you added a year to rehab the leg, he should only be 28. Sorry, if I'm nitpicking..., but shouldn't his age be 27 or 28?

The ability to level up and unlock skills isn't in the game yet but it will be implemented at some point. Until then the piloting skill is mostly for the racing minigame and the story skill-checks.
piloting has a really small effect on accuracy (because it's expected to be a huge stat) but the bigger issue is the base 50% to miss is modified by distance and that's not shown to the player yet. That's part of what makes those percentages feel like xcom - 10 shots at 50/50 and you land 2 feels wrong.
So, first off, I want to say I'm enjoying it. Good stuff. I'm still playing, but I want to post my thoughts. Most of them seem negative, because I'm much better at complaining than praising. So I hope you're up for constructive criticism; that's all I can do.

It's all covered in-game fairly early on - talk to the XO at the bar at night for the complete backstory. It's a marked event until she runs out of things to talk about.

As for combat - it's pretty traditional to use jet dogfighting for space because pure newtonian inertial mechanics are boring. Space is big, and thrust with no friction means everyboy is moving fast. So... Pre-program the computer to shoot the other guy when flying by at tens of thousands of meters/sec because human reaction times aren't happening with sub-microsecond windows and if you survive turn around and full burn back at them. Expance (the books at least) covered realistic space combat.

Other full-3d games that use intertial mechanics throw on artifical speed limits to bring the combat arena down to a reasonable size. alternately you could make it a game with limited total ΔV and when you run out you're dead - see the OG Moon Lander. One only works in 3d, the other isn't as much fun. Not a whole lot of moon lander sequels.

Grazers are big so they'd be spine mounted on the fighters with limited deflection arc. You can deflect high-energy electron beams but it takes a lot of juice. See also CRT monitors. Even speed of light isn't instant at the distances of space so you still have to lead your target and it's less fun if computers just have 100% accuracy because then combat is whoever has enough wattage to melt the other guys armor first wins.

Engines are big, relative to the size of the fighter. Any excess mass is a waste - engine, weapons, life support. They're gonna be fix-mounted.

Wings: see again "realistic space combat sucks" and add to it "rule of cool".

tl;dr: nearly everybody treats space as ww2 pacific theater for a reason. capships are boats, fighters are planes/jets.

Missiles are bugged, wait for the combat rework to use them. They do less damage than a single grazer hit right now and when you do land a direct hit it skips your next turn. Also you can shoot them but they're very hard to hit.

And maybe I just suck, but I missed the entire romance plot with the Aztec healer goddess in LoM. I didn't even know she was an LI until I looked at the gallery.
Xochi's one of the easiest ones to miss because there's a bunch of non-obvious offramps and you have to catch her at the right time.

the main difference between sci-fi and fantasy is the vibe. You've got both "rules-based" magic systems and fantastical space tech in abundance in games, stories and movies. The best of either genre is when they explore how people/society woudl be different with those changes. You see that most often in 'hard' sci-fi because it's "what if our world but we invented teleporters?" and what societal changes there are. Clarke wrote an entire series based around the idea that moving walkways were the pinnacle of transportation technology.

Jenn says he's got 7 years more experience than Arya. Conversation with cass on day ten: He spent six years on Atheon but it wasn't his first posting. His file is heavily redacted, Jenn won't have clearance and there's probably stuff missing.

He tells Selena he spent five years there though so one of the two lines is wrong.

E: No, you're right. Seven years in the legion, 2 in the academy.

18ish + 18 months bootcamp / specialization + 2 years somewhere unspecified + 5-6 years Atheon + 6 months recovery + 2 years at the Academy. So yeah, he's probably a bit younger than 31, maybe 29 or 30.

Well......... I really don't mean to be argumentative, and it's your story. I honestly mean to be helpful. MC says he served 7 years in the Legion. I'm a former military man. Time in service is time in service. That means it includes everything, boot camp, training of any kind, all deployments, and time recovering from injuries. He could have needed some extra time with the prosthetic before being able to pass a physical for entering the academy - likely 6 months to a year. So, the math, according to statements made in the story, says 27-28.

I won't bug you about it any further. Just thought it worth mentioning. As I said before. I'm loving the story. The game mechanics rock. The combat is perfect, and I'm looking forward to any more scenarios you may add. The speed run is a hoot! (y)

I always find it best in these situations to assume that the CHARACTER said it wrong  looks like you're fine though. For some reason I've noticed that creators seem to really appreciate constructive feedback!

The real fun question in space is: 7 years objective or subjective? The more you move around the more objective time you skip. Just this quick couple week jaunt into the dark was half a year for everyone else. Spend enough time getting shipped from hotspot hotspot and you may only serve a few subjective years of your objective decade.

I like your point about military considering all time served. Might make sense to have MC count that time. He's still 7 years ahead of Arya, since boot counts for her as well and he wouldn't have to redo that moving branches.
