Traveling a couple lightyears in a week, and subjectively experiencing only a day or two
this is EXACTLY the horror people in comas experience! to the person who was in the coma, it's like going to sleep one day, and waking up a day later (their subjective time would be a day), but to everyone else they went into the coma May 1st, this year, and woke up May 2nd NEXT year...."objectively" they have lost a year! i understand these are relatively small time jumps they are experiencing, but to me (i was only in a coma for 30 days, but in my memory i have like a 6-7 blank space) ANY loss of time ain't good!

OK, so I'm a noob. I got to the point where a message popped up saying Astrid has a repeatable scene. I missed how to trigger it though.

I can't figure it out. I've tried Facial, Contacts, and the comp in my cabin. I've also tried talking to her in the bar at night. So... anyone willing to share?

Yeah and that's briefly explored in conversations -- most tellingly at New Caledonia -- there's a discussion as to why the crew of merchant vessels almost always form relationships with other crew on their vessel and others. Those who don't deal with the slippage are less capable of working through the issues it creates.

At night, if you open Facial after unlocking repeatable sex, there's a new "invite to your room" option.

I think the most important difference between the FTL travel and a coma is that everyone on the ship, everyone you interact with daily, your comrades and lovers, share your time, so you're not alone in your perception of time. And that it's probably common enough that people are better used to dealing with that (instead of just "you lost time"), and within limits it's routine.
Although I'm not sure if that helps you, sorry.

it's cool. i'm playing it (AGAIN.....) only this time i'm making a note of the days (i.e. day 5- sept 5, day 6- sept 16, etc) and i'm noticing the frequent amounts of time slippage, and like you said, it affects EVERYONE on the ship, so i'm sure you'd get used to it.

You don't need need to go FTL, you don't even need a fast plane. Time goes faster on the ISS (or even just sitting on a mountain top) than at sea level. And you can easily lose entire days and weeks to nothing more than tequila - been there, done that. :)

Weird, works just fine here. There shouldn't be any way for you to get there without going through the Rosebud name on Night of day 16.
I haven't been able to reproduce since. But when I unpacked and ran the 0.30 version, it still had my 0.20 savegames floating around. I started a fresh playthrough, but maybe I made a mistake at some point and loaded a 0.20 savegame?

The saves are all compatible; I fight hard to keep them that way.

Is Rage supposed to accumulate and not decay? Because that is how it is operating.

It makes a Rage I, Anger II build that doesn't even pick Rage as one of your four options excellent at fighter hunting.

Yeah, Rage doesn't decay currently.

There's a LOT of balancing in this in the future, so don't consider it guaranteed :)

Just thought I'd point it out. I suspect I'm late to the party, but there have been times in my past where saying something that seemed obvious helped.

Rage does make capital ship hunting not rely on torpedoes though which is nice.

So, finally had the day to play the new release (i.e. to replay the whole game). As always Droid delivers a quality product. I love the characters, I especially love the dialogue and I really like the MC and the Valeria. I think we all can see where some things are heading to, but I feel it's too early to make predictions and it;s not like Droid isn't a master at delivering quality twists.

I had fun. It was very satisfying to kick some major ass in this chapter, tho it was quite one-sided. As a whole, from what we have seen to this point the Empire can easily deal with 2:1 odds. And that's with a navy that's heavily implied is filled with people who are promoted not on skill, but on connections and political ability. Unless the Shogunate enters the fray, I don't think they should be concerned with how the war would turn out much.
I also love the little things pointing out how it is a peace time navy. Hell, they have no reserve fighters on carriers, for example. Cabins are something like 2x bigger then they should be. Big showers, large legion detachments that have little to do in combat situations. I imagine a lot of shuttles to drop said Legionaries. It's great how the MC calls out the idiocity of the doctrine to try and get away from faster enemies. It will be interesting how much of that we will see change over the course of the story.

Some things I did not like:
The AI missiles still skip turns. Either I'm stupid and don't know how, or mine can't. Not fair.
I don't like the 4 skills limit. I think 3 on 3 (3 active - 3 passive) would be better, especially since we don't have a way to re-spec our build and try new things.
If you put enough hours in the simulations (and you can do that AND finish every bit of content in the game currently easily) you become a beast outpacing your wingmates by a mile pretty quickly. I feel they should level up better, maybe gain some skills that would make their personalities shine more in combat. Throw more enemies to balance it out if need be.
I know it's probably a pain, but an actual codex like in ME or DA wit a bit more then a single sentence of explanation about stuff would be appreciated.

On a purely subjective and personal note: I don't like how abysmal are the survivor numbers from blown up ships. War is hell and whatnot, but currently the space combat in this universe seems like a bunch of eggs carrying hammers - a few good hits turn a ship in to floating scrap and at that point I'm wondering why even bother putting armor on them. Point-defense sucks worse then the AA battery Bismark had. It seems nobody is even bothering with ECM and stealth, beyond "we shall hide behind a planet". Like, I get that there plainly hasn't been a major war in space like ever. But still...

Anyhow, I'm eager to see where the next chapter would lead us. I love the world and the characters, I'm intrigued by some of the mysteries presented.

The empire can deal with 2:1 odds when facing older, near-obsolete ships and gear. Also, it's pretty obvious both the empire and confederation are being played into engaging in this war.

It's trivial to respec. On the right-hand section of the skills pages is a large RESET SKILLS button. No cost other than the time to spend all the points again.

War may be hell, but space wants you dead. I was impressed how many survivors there were from the FAC and destroyer destructions.

Point defense does suck though. It's possible torpedoes are relatively new for fighters -- perhaps the previous fighter couldn't carry them. More likely the ship designs have never been seriously tested in a peer conflict (in fact we know that haven't been).

Yeah, there's a ton more work to be done on balance, especially on the tactical map. I'm about to do a new story-based race, so that might be a good excuse to hit the balancing on that.

Glad you're enjoying it :)

Well, fuck me sideways... That said, I do have the tendency to miss shit like that, it's the reason why I mentioned it with the missiles skipping their turn :D.

Oh, I'm loving it! And my favorite lynx is back as a clothing model, so I'm a happy camper. :giggle:
