It sounds like he thinks this new game will make money on Steam, drive attention to him as a dev, and then people will want to play Winter Warmth. WW can't go on Steam because it has incest themes so I don't see how else it a new game would benefit WW.

Isn't steam moving away from adult rated games due to payment networks taking heat from australian gov/activist groups? I thought that was the case, and they''ll stick with light-sense humor/softcore games e.g. Lary style.. but I could be wrong...

In the announcements he said that WW is not abandoned, there is no need to panic.

If you’re taking the developer at his word, then this game should have been updated several times between the last update and now. The rest of us have already accepted that this game is abandoned. Shame, it had such high potential
Agreed. No one is panicking? WW hasn't been updated in a year. The dev isn't working on it and instead is invested in a new game, telling us it benefits the game not being developed. Doesn't even make sense. It very much sounds like it's abandoned but isn't being said by the dev because he knows that his new project won't be supported if he were to tell the truth. And when he realizes his plan doesn't work, it makes it even more likely that WW is abandoned even if he intends to work on it in the future.
The dev banned me from his discord for saying 'I think you should stick to one project instead of splitting your focus between multiple projects because thats how you quickly lose interest in one project and neglect it or burn yourself out'

He's likely angry because no one has interest in Karma. For the sake of WW, I hope people are into it.
Well then he isn't going to develop WW further unfortunately. I have zero interest in Karma as well, but he's pegged its success to the determining factor if he continues to develop WW.

Fuck no. This developer is incompetent at gauging fan interest and is putting all his chips in on a losing hand with a different game.
Sometimes artists just don't get it but consider this one dead, despite developer saying it's not. He's kidding himself and leading followers of this game on.

I was silly enough to subscribe to WW thinking that I've just played the tutorial/prequel and the complete game was waiting if you paid on patreon/subscribestar. Little did I know ... I should have read the reviews/posts here as the only playble version I found was a really old renpy build. The godot versions I've tried were a real mess and nobody was on support on discord to tell you which version is best to start with if you're a new player.
Having said that, I still think that the they plan continuing development but not as soon as people/fans here hope. Best case scenario maybe a year for the game to get back to a playable state for who ever has the courage to start from scratch.
Karma is a very superficial game as its a VN with few choice options, however its a lot simpler to develop compared to a sandbox game, a low hanging fruit lets say.
I still bet they're trying to make money/funding from that game while gaining a better understanding of the dev tools to go back to their other IP.

This game has been fighting an uphill battle ever since dev changed it from Ren'Py to Godot
Melissa was one of my favs, now I don't even know if we'd ever see her again

"Please read the server rules before you comment. Speaking of Winter Warmth, it is my favorite adult game too (or has the potential to be). Which might not come as a surprise. As for it's production, I do what I can with what I have. Lastly, don't underestimate Eclipse."
AKA Winter Warmth is not being developed and probably won't be developed further. Refusing to say yes or no to the future and intentionally being vague is a red flag. I interpret "I do what I can with what I have" as he doesn't have the knowledge to work on Godot. His team likely quit last year, explaining why it takes a year to work on a remake. If you have to gaslight fans into thinking WW is coming to get them to support a new project, then the new project is likely a dud.
