The question is which version? Renpy or the one using the new engine(debug build). Lots of content is missing on that version which was found in the renpy one and vise cersa. You should definitely play it.
Exactly. I've had the opinion that if the bugs were fixed and the insane amount of grinding was dropped, this would be one of the top games.the crazy thing is that if the dev just released anything that was remotely stable, people would eat that shit up. The game has crazy potential, I just really hope it's not squandered.
So instead he's just halting development on it for the foreseeable futureI have a lot of respect for what he's trying to do. He doesn't want to make a simple game, so he has to deal with a lot of details. I guess he doesn't prefer this program because of some restrictive features of Renply. And maybe he doesn't want to throw all his hard work in the trash.
Not surprised by your experience. As has been discussed here ad nauseum, the #1 problem with this project is the arrogance of the creator. No doubt--we all can see--the potential for the project. It is unlike all the mediocre refuse that this site has in abundance. But instead of allowing the story to blossom and stand on its own, there appears to be this misplaced desire to make a fortune on it. It's coded to lock out non-payers from the get-go when all he needs to do is release the story. The story will in time generate the $$. Establish the project, get it going, build on it and it will make $$. Very few of these games make lots of money, but when they do it's because the story and the positivity of the dev make it so.The dev team is a sandwich short of picknick IMO. I subbed for a few months back a year or so ago, and was on their Discord for a long while after that. I complained about the grind and the crap random event generator, despite jumping all the hoops to trigger the next event, it could still take months of game time or just a few days to pass by before the event decides to trigger, I was booted from their channel for it. It's as if they think that's all people that play the game want, is to grind making cookies and selling crap from a food cart, story and content is a distant second place for them.
The game is essentially abandoned at this point. I think you're right on the dev model and that he thought he was going to make this grind game and release it to Steam and make tons of money. But the last launch was a complete failure when 7 months ago, so the dev is now back to developing Karma, which no one wants. Not surprised by your experience. But....here we sit.
