Can you really blame him? These "mod" devs are milking his game adding minor changes and updates full of "fixes".
They pretty much took his game, added a bit extra content and milking it releasing minor fixes.
4 years passed and there's no reason to revisit this game at all because no significant new content was ever added. Unless you like to play "dress up" game.
Their success is based on akabur content and they live off of akabur game doing bare minimum. They pretty much leeching off someone's else work.

Akabur should really send them cease and desist. That would end this charade when it would force them to redo 80% art.
A "cease and desist"... you are hilarious bro.

See here's the deal. You tend not to have any rights when you base your entire game on characters and IP that you don't own. And there is no "parody game" exclusion clause to copyright infringement. So if Akabur wants to bring the heat by shelling out the big bucks for hotshot lawyers to craft some lawyerly cease & desist type threats, he can expect to receive some in turn, from people like Warner Brothers. Because IP holders generally do not want their assets associated with extreme sexual content, and Dumbledore encouraging Hermione to engage in gangbangs and Bukkake probably applies here. So better that Akabur continues to go about his business and we continue to enjoy the incredible additions that have been brought to Witch Trainer by numerous modders over the years.

Funnily enough, Akabur did say that he ran into trouble with WB back before the original game released. It's why he says he chose to change the game from Hermione Trainer to Witch Trainer.

This is the kind of comment you read and usually ignore… but let's use your logic. Is the problem that it's based on Akabur's game, or is it that, in your view, it didn't have enough content?

Let's think about a scenario where they added thousands of things. You probably wouldn’t be complaining, even if it were "based on Akabur." That's because the real issue was never that, it’s just being used as a way to attack the mod. The real frustration comes from waiting for changes to happen at your pace, which either don’t occur or don’t happen in the way you imagined would be better.

But man, is the best way to deal with this really acting like a child, attacking all the work these guys put in, and wanting it to be destroyed? That kind of mindset is both petty and immature.

For example, I like the game Ravager. They release a lot of small updates with practically no major additions. A part of me sometimes feels like attacking them, demanding that they bring in exactly what I want to see. But honestly, we have no idea what it's like to manage all of this. These guys have a team, coding, artwork, social media to handle, bug fixes, comments to respond to, etc.

On top of that, in the case of this specific game, as far as I know, the artwork for the scenes has never been handled by a single artist over all these years. That must have slowed down the process as well. Anyway, Lemon can probably explain that better.

I also wish for faster updates, but I’m not going to act like that, man. Anyway, I hope you think it through.

Well put.

From my side, I can only add that I've worked on this project for free for years, invested my own money into it, and have been at the helm only for the last two years, in which I have:
- Pushed for open-sourcing the project fully.
- Overhauled the entire codebase to allow ease of access for player-made mods (Because if you couldn't tell already, I love mods!)
- Rented a Linux server and created a publicly accessible Git instance for everyone with bleeding edge developer builds, including the stuff we're currently working on (Sees about ~500GB+ bandwidth per month.)
- Created a public website for the project, including code documentation and guides for modders to use.
- Created a game version archive for preservation purposes, which is publicly accessible.
- Invested into a paid MEGA account so that everyone can download ANY version of the game for free at full speeds.
- Rented another Linux server as a CDN to serve game updates through an in-game updater in much smaller sizes, since I know first-hand how much it hurts to have a shite internet connection.
- Contributed to the Ren'Py Engine multiple times, reporting issues, fixing bugs, etc.
- Single-handedly learned how to draw over the past two years, to once and for all fix our artist woes.
- Redesigned the entire gameplay loop to address the lack of proper game design (not an issue with the OG, just the mod since it expands on the game so much.)
- Redesigned and implemented completely new hand-drawn interfaces to ensure the game can run, ranging from phones to 4K TVs, and other devices in the future.
- Created internal documentation for the project's scope, the roadmap, the events chains, character sheets, and a fucktone more.
- Learned concurrent programming concepts and addressed performance issues plaguing the game, especially old PCs (low-end gaming is very close to my heart, since I've pretty much all my life worked with low-end devices.)
- Recovered from depression.
- Pushed for and achieved full transparency in terms of game development (anyone who has ever spoken to me on Discord knows.)
- Started writing developer blog posts with detailed information about each and every aspect of the development process, including our struggles, our plans, and progress.
- Redrawn the majority of Akabur's art, including Genie himself (Over 80% and counting. ;) )
- Created hand-drawn character sheets for multiple girls, since no has ever cared to do that.
- Implemented translation support.
- And more...

That is just from the top of my head, not including details about game progression, character development, or future projects, and we're only a team of two people. Thanks for your support, lads, you're the reason why I keep doing this.

I had no idea of the scale, man. Congratulations on all the effort, and I hope the game keeps gaining more and more supporters and continues to thrive with the work you both put in.

Sometimes, negative messages make you ignore all the good ones you receive, but it's the good ones that truly matter. Keep up the great work, and don’t forget taking care of your health is essential! Hitting the gym and getting some sunlight helps balance serotonin!

Thanks, mate! I used to take those negative messages personally, especially since I've put so much time and heart into something that some people try to downplay as 'minor changes' or that I'm 'stealing' someone else's work, while they have absolutely no idea that we have spoken to Akabur before.

This is the first and the last time I'll address this - Our supporters on both SubscribeStar and Patreon already know that I do not overpromise, or oversell. Aside from bi-weekly developer blog posts showing our progress and work, we do not offer them anything. They support us because they want to, because they see worth in our work, both past and future, and know that even if we take our sweet time to get to the end, we will deliver. Our track record is a proof of that. We will not compromise quality, we will not crunch, we will deliver the update when and only when it is ready.

I made a promise to myself and people here long ago, which some of you may remember, but let me reiterate: I will NOT be responding to any personal attacks directed at me or my colleagues. If you are an asshole, you will be treated as such and completely ignored. You will not be acknowledged, your messages won't be read, I won't even spare a single glance in your way. That is all.

As for others providing constructive critique, feedback, reporting issues, or even simply commenting, I can only say Thank You. This project would not be possible if it weren't for you for a simple reason - I too come from here, I too found the original game great, but wanted more, so eventually I ended up as one of the maintainers after making a simple fucking mod for a mod (lol), and things spiralled from there. Now I'm leading this project, and I honestly couldn't ask for more.

- Is it only comments that are happy and and dandy ?, as soon as reality kicks in and people give some critique its just "lets wipe the page" damn.

probably insulting others, mods have zero tolerance for many things.
