Well put.
From my side, I can only add that I've worked on this project for free for years, invested my own money into it, and have been at the helm only for the last two years, in which I have:
- Pushed for open-sourcing the project fully.
- Overhauled the entire codebase to allow ease of access for player-made mods (Because if you couldn't tell already, I love mods!)
- Rented a Linux server and created a publicly accessible Git instance for everyone with bleeding edge developer builds, including the stuff we're currently working on (Sees about ~500GB+ bandwidth per month.)
- Created a public website for the project, including code documentation and guides for modders to use.
- Created a game version archive for preservation purposes, which is publicly accessible.
- Invested into a paid MEGA account so that everyone can download ANY version of the game for free at full speeds.
- Rented another Linux server as a CDN to serve game updates through an in-game updater in much smaller sizes, since I know first-hand how much it hurts to have a shite internet connection.
- Contributed to the Ren'Py Engine multiple times, reporting issues, fixing bugs, etc.
- Single-handedly learned how to draw over the past two years, to once and for all fix our artist woes.
- Redesigned the entire gameplay loop to address the lack of proper game design (not an issue with the OG, just the mod since it expands on the game so much.)
- Redesigned and implemented completely new hand-drawn interfaces to ensure the game can run, ranging from phones to 4K TVs, and other devices in the future.
- Created internal documentation for the project's scope, the roadmap, the events chains, character sheets, and a fucktone more.
- Learned concurrent programming concepts and addressed performance issues plaguing the game, especially old PCs (low-end gaming is very close to my heart, since I've pretty much all my life worked with low-end devices.)
- Recovered from depression.
- Pushed for and achieved full transparency in terms of game development (anyone who has ever spoken to me on Discord knows.)
- Started writing developer blog posts with detailed information about each and every aspect of the development process, including our struggles, our plans, and progress.
- Redrawn the majority of Akabur's art, including Genie himself (Over 80% and counting.

 )
- Created hand-drawn character sheets for multiple girls, since no has ever cared to do that.
- Implemented translation support.
- And more...
That is just from the top of my head, not including details about game progression, character development, or future projects, and we're only a team of two people. Thanks for your support, lads, you're the reason why I keep doing this.
