I should've been more clear when I mentioned "give me receipts"...what you gave was a fan's interpretation, nothing from the creators themselves; just like the previous one that tried to tell me otherwise and claim I have no idea what I'm talking about. You must be registered to see the links

And, more specifically, this passage: ' Clearly, MJ was the "loser" in this dance battle and this issue sort of sealed the deal on MJ's role as a possible main love interest for Peter, as Lee and Romita devoted their energies fully to Gwen from this point forward ...' (You must be registered to see the links)
And you'll find much more if you read the whole column.
Enjoy!
For starters let's talk about your first bit:
None of what you said is true. Now, while MJ may have originally been intended to "just be there" there is nothing that I found that says that he never liked her. They tried to push Gwen but no matter what they could never get her to be as wanted as MJ.Stan Lee never liked MJ. Gwen, on the other hand, was based on his wife, Joan. You have no idea what you're talking about.
[Stan Lee's Amazing Marvel Interview - August 2011] It is also stated in Gwen Stacy's wikipedia page, 3rd paragraph under Early History, last sentence of the 3rd paragraph. The other cites are listed there as well.
If you do a search for Joan Lee and look at the older pictures, Joan was a red head. So can't be "based on his wife, Joan" is Joan is actually a red-head and not a blonde...so you were wrong there, too. Now she may have had some inspiration for the character, but that isn't the end all be all for "Gwen good' Mary Mal"
Now, onto what you posted as far as the cbr.com articles: 1) I'm not reading through all of that. This is fan interpretation and not writers. The writers are who matter, not fans like you that are trying to warp things into your own perspective in order to try and tell others that they are wrong when there is nothing from the writers to suggest otherwise.
2) If Gwen was supposed to be the "true love" as you both have stated, then why did Gwen reject Peter for so long? Sure when they finally started going out it was fine and all, Gwen even moved to Europe after her father was killed in a fight between Spider-Man and Doc Ock, but later returned to New York because she missed and loved Peter. Still doesn't "cement true love status" it just means they were very into each other. Then Gerry Conway comes into the book and basically goes "Hey. Gwen is nice and sweet, but she isn't resonating with fans. They really loved the 'Face it, Tiger...You just hit the jackpot!' line and they're wanting more of MJ. MJ has personality where Gwen has sweetness, and Peter needs personality not sweetness." I paraphrased, but you can look up anything about Gerry Conway talking about it and he clearly mentions this as well as "I may be a bit Mary Jane partizan..." as well. So yeah, he had his own way of looking at it, but she was more well liked by the time Stan was wrapping up his writing on Spider-Man and turning it over to Conway for the next long haul.
3) The link to the Telegraph article? That's just a headline that doesn't really "prove anything". Again, that's that journalists opinion...not to mention you can't even get into the article to read it without paying for it. Sorry, but this weak argument isn't worth the money of buying an article/subscription to try and tell you "You're fully wrong at worst and half right at best".
4) So you provided zero proof from any of the actual writers of the book, it's all speculative and fan theory, so your argument is still weak as hell and holds no substance in this debate.

will put to rest anything that may come spewing forth about "He did it without Stan knowing about it!" but I did manage to find that the issue Stan had with Gwen getting killed off is the word "SNAP!" when the web caught her and he didn't like that Spider-Man was actually the one that ended Gwen's life. But that was his only beef with it.I've spent the last hour going through articles and what not and yes, this is a giant wall of text, but everything I've found I've stated cleanly, fairly, and told you where I found my information.
5) And anyone who has the childish retorts of "you have no idea what you're talking about" and "only the real ones know" is just a 4th grade level attempt at trying to get a rise out of someone...you can do better if you truly believe what you're saying. But I highly doubt you'll find anything from the creators and writers that will back what you're trying to say.
