Holy shit, the update is amazing. The wait for v0.8 was definitely worth it.

I was initially skeptical about the various art redesign, but what we have now is nothing short of a masterpiece whilst still maintaining all the charm the original had. This isn't even to mention the gameplay improvements, every fight, even the most basic foot-soldier or slime is extremely engaging to battle. It is astonishing how this was all done on the RPGM engine, I really believe that VerehrER has pushed the RPGM engine to it's absolute limits, the combat is obviously amazing, but even every small detail is awe inspiring. I have never seen a game handle stat progression, inventory management, or even just moving between areas as well as this game. We will never see any meaningful innovation in a similar genre to this ever again, this game really has it all.

Of course, this is not even mentioning the new story. The emotion, the twists, the additional worldbuilding, Luna's character development; it is all brilliant. Ignoring the obvious themes of romance and desire, I have never seen the themes of human connection, or the meaning of duty tackled so elegantly.
Out of the hundreds of hours of new content received, the greatest part must have been the new goblins faction, specifically Goblin Champion Glompnik, the chaos of the three way war we initially fight against the humans and the goblins, the shocking revelation that Glompnik is the last one of his kind to retain his sanity, putting into perspective why we are even fighting here to begin with, and of course, the final climactic boss fight against Glompnik himself. needless to say, this is now my favourite boss fight from any game, this fight is somehow leagues above the rest of the game, which was already brilliant. The unrelenting barrage of attacks feels so good when you finally understand the pattern and rhythm of it, able to seamlessly weave through the storm of strikes whilst finding opportunities to attack yourself. The spectacle of his strong attacks is extrodinary yet terrifying to see for the first time, despite this, they all remain intuitive for how to dodge/block/counter. On that point, it is remarkable how so many options are present to deal with each thing Glompnik throws at you, whilst the fight itself is still a great challenge, it really encourages you to find your own solutions. This boss is the definition of challenging but fair.
Aside from the mechanics of the fight, the tragic storytelling in the fight was perfect. We can see the mutual respect that Luna and Glompnik have for eachother, despite him being a monster, this fight feels more like two noble champions dueling eachother than any other fight. Neither of us want this, but we are both duty bound, Glompnik must protect the last goblin shrine, and we must progress forwards. A fight like this felt surreal after fighting our way through corrupted warriors that had lost their mind, monsters opperating only on instinct, and the self serving human champions we come across (not that any of them were anything short of a beautiful fight).
I could go on for so long about Glompnik, even though that was the bit I liked the most, it was still probably less than 5% of the total content added this update, and I could definitely see people enjoying other bits more.

I haven't even mentioned the h-scenes yet. No other game could ever compare to this masterpiece, the art was better than anything else I have seen before, and nothing else could ever give such an emotional attachment to the characters we see. The best bit was probably Luna entering the corporeal dimension to suck us off irl (Thank you Vodka6329, I think you gave Verehrer the idea for that one).
I shouldn't spoil anything more, I think it is best if you experience this update mostly blind.

Are you perhaps from the future?
If so, can you tell me what the world situation is like?

I'd argue with you about that...

Because everyone has different tastes...

For you, it's a masterpiece... And for someone else, it's trash... (I'm not implying anything... No innuendo... For me, the game is a masterpiece...)
