I played whole game again from the start. My saves were from period when there was two parts, so I wanted to redo those and make sure they'll work. Few things I'd like to mention. Aside from game having amazing characters, some of which managed to surprise me with their awesomeness (for example Druthari in the early date in awesome costume. Beware goblins, we might have new number two girl (can't beat Wither though)).

When someone sends you an image within text messages, it would be nice to view full size image of it by clicking it on phone, like some games do.

Idea to send two "sorcerers", no matter how powerful, to fight Marbog seems far fetched given rate of Marbog's reproduction and vast area to be reconquered (unless their powers are at nuclear levels and using those would cause nuclear winter, which would make planet too cold for Marbogs).

Sidestories seemed often disjointed and some of them ended bit too abruptly. I'd like to see as much of the story as possible in the main story.

There were couple parts with no images, just conversation showing with black screen for about half dozen screens. For example second of these around the sentence "I'm sorry again! I'd stop to help but I'm in a hurry!". Seems like MC collided with someone, but it was weird that nothing was shown? Placeholder that was forgotten to finish?

Few typos:
(MC in kitchen)
Anywho... -> Anyhow

(First visit to beach with Ember)
I suppose I'll take that as a complement -> compliment?

(In the pool with Rukah)
I was alwasys chastised for not fitting in with orc -> always

Hey there! Thanks for the feedback.

Putting the stories into the main story disallows people from being able to include and exclude the girls they are or aren't interested in. Would you believe there are people who don't want to romance every single LI out there? I know. Crazy. But I got crucified in WCA's early days for "forced" content, so I began putting as much as I felt was practical into the side stories.

I'm interested to see how you feel about the Marbog thing after we get S2E5 out. If it's still not believable, I'd definitely like to know.

Yes, I do the black screen thing here and there when I have an idea after I've shot the scene and want to add a few lines.

Typos:
"Anywho" is a southern thing. Half my family was from Texas, and the other half from Italy, so I have a weird blend of speech habits. You'll notice "y'all" a lot even though I have a California accent lol

Great catch on the other two typos. Fixing those now.

Again, thank you so much for wanting to contribute to making WCA better!

It's shocking to me that anyone who thinks they're proficient enough in English to offer critique, would be unfamiliar with that...
Non-native here. My dictionary doesn't have that word and that was first instance when I ever saw it.

I'm sure in your language there's a ton of dialectal spoken terminology, that wouldn't be found in a dictionary.

This is also the reason I don't try and edit stuff in Arabic despite allegedly being fluent.

You were right on the others though, and I tend to be overly snarky, so don't take it to heart.

Yeah I grew up with Texan grandparents lol. There's gonna be a LOT of stuff I say that may not be in your dictionary. But I'm grateful for your input because you did catch two typos that have been there for a while!

[REVEAL] New Add-on Feature: Fantasies Collection

Hello again, all! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyous Kwanzaa, Wishing you a joyful and meaningful Pancha Ganapati celebration, and Happy Holidays for all the other celebrations I didn't cover :) And it just so happens I have a present for Supporters.

So I talked about this a while back, and it's taken some time and some help from Steelmaker, but we've got it working. I'd like to present to you:

1735120321411.png

So um... WTF is this?

Well, a LOT of people have been asking for a Gallery of sorts. And we did have one. Two, in fact. One Rimulex coded, and one that was coded by someone from F95Zone. The Fantasies Collection Add-on enables an H-scene viewer that doesn't just play the video loops; you get to play the whole H-scene all over again. And I didn't realize it until now, but WCA has 16 H-scenes in it. I thought we had a LOT less. The Fantasies Collection will mainly feature H-scenes that are in the game, but may also end up containing extra non-canon H-scenes as we think them up, and potentially even the HMVs that I'm making for the Pandora's Box packs.

Anyways, when you drop this file into your game folder, you'll be met with a new menu option upon starting the game:

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

From there, you'll be greeted by a brand new screen:

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

All of these thumbnails are animated currently, and the system auto-rescales whatever I put in each thumbnail slot. This means we're rescaling 9 videos at once. Which causes some performance issues, it seems. I'm working on a switch in the Options Menu that will toggle Animated Thumbnails off for performance reasons. Because if my GAMING PC with a fuggin RTX3080 is chugging on this screen, yeah, lil Android device would probably explode.

Why do this, though? Well, over the last 3 and a half years, I've sort of struggled with providing value to our Supporters, especially the higher Tier folks. WCA has never been a quick fap game, but adding the Fantasies Collection functionality nixes the need to save at every H-scene when people want to see them again. I'm big on Quality of Life changes, and adding this sort of H-Gallery also has the potential to expand our audience a bit as well. Some people may not like the story, but may like the high-effort H-scenes.

Speaking of story, the folks in the Cosy Cafe ( ) Discord server have been of great help, and I've learned that the first 4 Episodes in Season 1 still need work, as the pacing and some of the content is turning people off before they can reach the meat of the story. I've begun ANOTHER rewrite, this time more in-depth, to address some of the assumptions I made about writing AVNs back when I first started this 4 years ago. One of those suggestions was to be able to disable Jumpscares.

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

And the kicker is, I've done all of this without requiring you to start a new game.

We'll be rolling out the Fantasies Collection to T5 and T4 Supporters for testing fairly soon, as soon as I have that toggle switch added to the main menu. I'm gonna keep working on S2E4 and Season 1 Rewrite 2 Electric Boogaloo. Wishing you all a pleasant holiday season, and looking forward to feedback on the Fantasies Collection!

Another rewrite? Hmm. I'd rather see that energy going into creating new content. There's no way you can satisfy everyone, no matter how many times you rewrite.

I forgot to ask lore question about breeding different species, so here it is:

Hey, fantastic input!

I'm aware that I can't satisfy everyone, and trying to will only make the game worse. But I was recently watching along as a streamer played it, and I realized I was quite unhappy with the writing. The overall plot and arc won't be touched, but there are a lot of double-explains leftover from the first rewrite, there's a lot of needless perving on the girls early on that I thought AVNs had to have because of the type of player I thought played these games, and I wasn't real happy with the way some of what Aurum says is worded. When I started, I was writing in an overly poetic, dramatic novelesque style and, while the literary style serves its purpose very well in a fantasy novel, I felt that my writing for WCA evolved over time, and I wanted to shore up the quality so that the experience is more consistent overall. Coupled with the fact that the early renders look like ass, and we really do wanna go back and reshoot those at some point.

You are in the majority when you say you would rather see that energy go towards new content. I've kept that in mind, too. I take every chance I get to work on S2E4, the Senia DLC, or the Fantasies Collection I just announced. But when none of that is possible because I'm waiting on someone else from the team and I have nothing to do, I've been going back and shoring up the writing. It's nice because it helps me not lose momentum, and when the other parts of the story are available to work on again, I can switch gears easily. When I lose momentum, it's near impossible to start up again, so you might say having something to do during downtime is HELPING the progress of S2E4 and the other new content.

Regarding the spoiler comment:

But anyways, I hope this answers some questions and addresses some concerns. Lemme know if you have any more questions.

So....I had not been playing for a while, since I figured I'd wait till you finished the RW and then hit it.
I would dutifully DL every release since then meaning to play it, but never got around to it.
I literally was about to start a new game tonight, but this is giving me pause.
Any idea when this new RW might be available?
I've noticed over the years that even games that I'm really into, I start to lose interest over time if things feel like they're spinning their wheels too much.
I hope this doesn't come across as me being an entitled prick, it's just the usual dilemma of too many games not enough time.
As mentioned before, I love the characters and your storytelling, so I don't mind waiting, but I also don't want to start something knowing the "improved" version is in the pipeline since I'm not sure I have another restart in me...
Also, ¡Feliz Navidad!

No wheel spinning here, don't worry. We're still working hard on new content. The next story patch will have Season 2 Episode 4, the whole episode. And while that will likely take another month or two, shipping my edits to the early story shouldn't take me more than another week at the very most. There are just some things that have been pointed out that, now that I'm rereading it, I'm pretty unhappy with.

Most of the work was already done before I made the above reply. I think I left off at Season 1 Episode 4, and the first three episodes only took me one night to get through. If all goes well, I may have it ready for my team to test on Saturday, and barring any major issues, could potentially ship it Sunday. And if for some reason it's not ready then, I'll have all night Monday and Tuesday night to work on it. So Sunday if possible, Wednesday at the latest, I'm thinking.

And Feliz Navidad a ti también :)

Thank you so much for the response and it looks like I'll only need to hold off a lil' more before I jump back in!

[PROGRESS REPORT] 1.3.5.4 Straight-To-Public and S2E4 Progress

Hey, all!

First, some updates. 1.3.5.1 has been the public build for a week or so. 1.3.5.2 and 1.3.5.3 contained compatibility changes on the backend for DLC characters and the Fantasies Collection add-on we're working on. 1.3.5.4 is combining all of this, plus several Quality of Life updates and some rewritten dialogue for Season 1 Episodes 1 through 3.

PC and Mac versions uploaded; waiting on Estrada's Android port, and then that'll be updated, too.

Link and Changelog for uploaders:

  • First, we've been asked to provide a way to turn off or soften the jumpscares in the game. That option has been added. You can now go into the main menu and turn the jumpscares off (though you'll have to close and reopen the game if you do that for it to actually work).
  • Second, I shored up the intro a bit, and realized that the last couple of builds were completely skipping my introduction. That's been added back in. I also removed a lot of the early perving, as I wrote that in based on assumptions I had 4 years ago about the AVN genre, its players, and what they wanted. I felt it was taking away from the story.
  • Third, there were some typos and wrong speaker tags that were fixed.
  • Lastly, I cleaned up a bit of the bitterness and negativity surrounding Ms. Clements and Aurum's thoughts about her. I feel like things make a lot more sense now. Season 1 Episodes 1 through 3 contain some dialogue polishing.

Alright, now for progress on 1.4.0.0, the next Main Story update:

image_2024-12-27_062217085.png

We're nearly halfway done with this next Main Story update. Most of the slow part has been figuring out how to code some specific mechanics this Episode has, as this is going to be an extremely important part of Aurum's story and there are some major lessons he needs to learn. With all that coding out of the way, this last half should progress pretty quickly and end up in the Supporter pipeline by the end of January if not sooner. I, personally, have been getting a TON of work done, between the Senia DLC, the Fantasies Collection Add-on, and the base WCA game. Having multiple things to cycle through helps a ton, as when I get stuck, I can just swap to a different project within WCA now.

Anyways, the more time I spend typing this, the less time I'm working on WCA, so back I go.

Okay, so with the fixes coming for the earlier parts of the game and such seems like it might be good to wait for 1.4 to come along and then start fresh at that point for a play through.

Much thanks for the update.

Yeah, very fair assumption. I've rewritten a bunch of small things in S1 E1-3 along with this current drop, and I'll most likely have 4-6 better polished as S2E4 drops. I'm very interested in feedback on this kind of repolishing, as while I THINK I'm improving the experience so less new players are turned off by the negativity, I'm not sure if it's going too far. That's kind of why I've opted for smaller changes, not a massive complete rework/rewrite of every single scene. Though we DO want to go back and reshoot the ones that have crappy lighting at some point. But we're mostly focused on new content right now, and that seems to be the preference of the community as well.

Early on in my initial playing of the game Ms. Clements was a hated character. I think that primarily came because we only saw Aurum's point of view about it and he kind of had blinders on. However by the time the two girls who just threw trash on the ground by Aurum in that opening set up scene were punished I found her to be much more sympathetic and was hoping Aurum would end up being able to help her. Felt like his opinion had shifted as well once he learned more about her situation. So I'm rather curious what the reworks will be like. I have never had an issue with people going back and fixing things up to try and make them clearer or be more consistent. Honestly now the only characters I actively dislike are his sleazey coworker who doesn't respect anyone's boundaries or culture (blanking on the name at the moment, but really learned to hate him when walking on patrol with the dark elf girl), and the former coworker obvious villain.

Yeah, the problem is that a lot of people didn't make it to that point. The negativity in the beginning and Aurum's obvious flaws seemed to be making a lot of people drop the game before the real meat of the story began. And even people who liked the game were a little put off by the early perving on the girls, and that doesn't really fit Aurum that well to begin with. So I feel like this is an improvement, but we'll see how people feel and whether they want more polishing like this.

Yeah sad that people didn't give it a chance to develop a bit. I found the story really engaging so very much looking forward to seeing how things have changed come 1.4

I have no issues with polishing things up (there are many instances out there were I really wish devs would take the time to go back and do that for their games).
