VN - Ren'Py - WVM [S2 Ch. 1 Ep. 13 B4] [Braindrop]

I can't understand all the hype behind this VN, the dialogues are very basic and poor, the renders are "normal", it reuses the same renders a lot and places a bunch of dialogue (remember this man generates more than 20k in his patreon a month, there are no excuses for being so lazy), the MC is boring, typical Mary Sue, all women want to be with him, he is the most popular in the whole city, not only in the college, he is basically a demi-god.

Decisions don't matter, you can do whatever you want, all other characters in the game are tokens, avatars, they have no personality, women only exist for the main character to fuck them, no character development, everything is exaggeratedly flat, etc, etc.

I had to see why there was so much fuss about this VN, I wanted to see why it generated so much money, and the truth i was perplexed, without answers, for the developer, I wish him the best in the world and hope that he capitalizes on all that he has achieved, because I think he is very lucky.

Welcome to the life of [insert name here]...a character so flawless, he makes Jesus look like a screw-up. Everyone wants to meet him, everyone wants to bang him. You might ask - "well it's a porn game, isn't that what we want?" Well yes and no. While we do visit this site for porn games, we also visit it for interesting stories and characters. If we just wanted porn, there's plenty of sites available to suit our needs.

The reason this fails is it's actually trying to be a story so there's a plot, dialogue, various characters and choices to be made...except these are things this game sucks at!!! The plot is thrown out the window in favour of a sex simulator, the dialogue is laughable, the characters are just sex dolls and the choices matter as much as a kinetic novel. You face no consequences. You literally cheat on your girlfriend and she's just happy enough that she has the privilege to lick your penis clean after you pull it out of another girl. I couldn't stomach this game any further after the 30th girl (that the MC never met before) comes up to you and jumps your bones after not even a "hello". This is one of the things that's only purpose it serves is getting the gallery unlocked and beat off. At least you wouldn't have to sit through the horrible script. The devs name is appropriate because your brain would literally have to drop out your head to enjoy this as a story.

This VN is a good example of quantity over quality. But, let's face it, most VN's that you come across are lacking in both, so while this game clearly lacks quality, the sheer amount of content contained within it is more than enough to distinguish it as a cut above most 3DCG VN's out there right now.

Quality:
The best way to describe the writing in this VN is just.. boring. There isn't much in the way of sexiness, humor, conflict or anything else which may surprise you or otherwise be entertaining in some way. Every female interaction with the MC is the same.. they meet him and like him right away or they are unsure a little bit and then like him later. There's really not much going on in the writing.. the MC meets girls and they all want to bang him. So the writing is boring and repetitive, but at least it's written in good english and actually makes sense, which is far more than can be said about many other VN's.. so it's not terrible, it's just minimum effort writing with little to no creativity.

The 3D modeling and animating is OK as well, but it's quickly becoming dated. Just like the writing, there's nothing here that's going to amaze anyone.. 3DCG VN's are being made routinely now with modeling and animating that is far better than this. But, again, like the writing, it's not terrible.. it's passable and still fappable. The individual girls are fine, some are more attractive than others, and there are lots of them, but none of them are really modeled and presented in a way that is sexy or seductive in a stand-out and memorable way. The main MILF of the story, for example, is clearly filling in this very stereotypical MILF role in VN's where there is a really slow burn with the hot mom that takes a long time to happen... except the mom isn't really very hot or sexy at all IMO. So it's just kinda meh, and I get that feeling about a lot of the characters.

The writing and modeling is OK, it's just not very enticing.

Quantity:
On the bright side, there is literally oodles of content here, way more than most 3DCG VN's which are rarely even finished. This one could stop right now without being finished and it is still a ton of content. This is really the only big plus for this game IMO, and it's what earns it four stars.. because it has more content than 99% of the VN's that you can find on this site, and being in the 99th percentile of content is easily worth 3 stars if the quality is at least OK, and it is.

Lots of high quality renders. The models and textures where all great. Pretty fun premise executed well. .

Amazing game well animated scenes with a lot of different characters to different path with different choices and tons of more characters that will have scenes added defiantly give game a download and play and support the creator if you can

Sometimes it's average, most of the time it's shockingly bad. Too many girls, only a handful are fleshed out enough to be actual characters. The story is boring, the MC is milquetoast and boring, and is obviously a self insert for Braindrop

I want to like this game so bad. I've tried to put it down and pick it back up multiple times now because I really like the premise of the game. It's got some great models and decent scenes, but I just cant get into the story and the way its written.
I know it's just a stupid porn game and I shouldn't expect the writing to be realistic, but the way nothing has consequences is so frustrating. Everyone in the game is just too damn understanding and ruins the immersion for me.
The MC constantly goes on about how he has no time and then when anyone asks for his attention and suddenly he now has time which makes each in-game day feel way too long in my opinion.
Also for a game that seems to be centered around basketball I feel its pushed too far into the background.

love this game especially since there is no NTR, the story line is awesome and the girls just WOW.. you've got a winner please don't f it up. i can't wait until further updates. i hope things get spicy with the moms and sister.

I really like the story and the girls' model. I am a big VN fan and this story is really intriguing and it does not go the way I thought it would go. So it is a really fun experience for me. Can't for wait the new updates. Just one thing sad about it is, there will be no Incest material. I really hope there will be by Braindrop or by other evil modders. And I really want to know what does WVM stands for...

I never had the greatest expectations of games on this site, I just only want to feel entertained. I always try to personally get an impression of a game and i am usually very skeptical about very good reviews or very bad ratings for a game, but when I started WVM at the beginning of November last year, I would not have thought that it would really entertaining me so good for 4 long evenings and that it would even end up very easily as one of my all time favorites. So what's so special about WVM?

- Maybe that great feeling that it brings of family and friendship.

- Characters you love, whether Shauna, Jamie, Stacy, Harper, Ruby, Carly, Bailey, Elizabeth, Emiko or my personal favorite Natalie

-An kind MC for whom you feel responsible and his beloved ones

- The sweet conversations between MC and his sister (Brubru) what a cute name for the brother

- Guys like Ayden and Skye which stand as symbols for real friends

- emotional conversations between the characters

- beautiful girls of course (all types of hair color and body differences covered, small or big breasts or butt etc.)

-really good looking renders

- and we should not forget a developer like Braindrop who talks to his supporters and if he can't deliver an update on time that he's honest and even stops pledges, which most others would not do.

I could write a lot more but i would also like to give others the opportunity to experience this great game and the great feeling it gave me.

The only small point of criticism I would like to address is that there was little time to play basketball so far, but otherwise the WVM stars are all worth their stars 5/5.

Bad writing and Bad character models...

I think that an athlete story is quite original and not really explored in 18+ VN games and this one had potencial but it is really underwhelming. If you're expecting any kind of sports elements in this game you can move on from here.

There's also a huge vicious cycle that is present in the whole game when it comes to characters interacting with MC. Basically everyone in the city knows you and is already in love with you, ready to go to bed with you. Every single girl, no exception. All you hear the whole game is how much they love you and how much you mean to them, after a while this becomes really annoying and repetitive.

If you like Harem games, install the mod with the gallery and just watch the scenes that aren't even that great.

This is quite an interesting one. Story is quite good and the art starts a bit bad but improves a ton as the game progresses. It is really noticeable how the devs improved with time. Gameplay-wise, it is not that interesting, the choices are extremely obvious and there is not much to be done outside of the dialogues.

i'm pretty hooked on the story, not gonna lie, I'm gonna support ya soon as I get some money, making a porn game is relatively easy, a porn game with an entertaining story is way harder, and you're managing it.

I played up to day 7, reading every dialog, not skipping it, because I'm very curious why this game is quite popular. Turn out this is not for me and I don't have the will to continue.

* Renders quality is average and outdated.
* Girls models mostly bad, main girlfriend is the worst.
* Game content quite big but boring and repetitive.
* Sex scene is a lot but average quality and plain.
* POV kissing is too much, bad to look at and a turn off.

I played until day 7 for hoping there will be an improvement, and I can't find it until I can't take it anymore. The good thing is, game content is big if you like this kind of game and the writing is not that bad, but if you don't like it at the begining, it's better you don't continue if you don't want to waste your time.

Pros.
#1 The setting
College basketball, stuff happening behind the scenes, cheerleaders, lots and lots of sex...nuff said.

#2 The characters
Almost every character in this game, especially the women, are well designed and written, their backstories are really interesting and make me keep coming back hoping more will be revealed / resolved.

#3 The way LGBT characters are portrayed
Having a trans sibling myself and knowing full well how some adult games overly fetishize trans characters I was a little hesitant to play the game when I saw they would be included, but I was pleasantly surprised, Shauna, Penny, and Sky are very well written and fleshed out characters. Braindrop did good



Cons.
#1 The protagonist
If you don't like Mary Sue characters ( I personally don't) you won't like the main character, pretty much everything is handed to him on a silver platter throughout the story, and even when he's in a situation where he "loses" he still wins in the end.

#2 The dialogue
I want to preface this by saying, no not all of the writing is bad, but the writing that is really sticks out to me personally. There is a lot of dialogue between characters where it's basically the same thing rehashed over and over from past exchanges and it just gets annoying after a while.

#3 No gay and incest options
Pretty self-explanatory
This is only a minor negative, having gay and or incest options doesn't a good game make, but I would have liked to of seen Braindrops take on gay and incestuous relationship options.
And yes I know why incest isn't in the game, but still humph

Overall I really like this game, definitely in my top 10, If the rating system wasn't 1-5 I would give it a solid 8/10.

I had a good time playing this game. It's an interesting male harem (and celebrity) fantasy. It's a lot of fun playing somebody who is mind-bogglingly popular lol. A very guilty pleasure, to say the least.

I liked that it gave you some control over the setting and the relationships at certain points. Want a trans relationship? You can. Don't? You can choose that. Want a lot of girl-on-girl? You can. Don't... you get the point.

There's a lot of variety in personality and body type with the girls. Is it perfect? No, take character models for instance. I think I'd prefer that the mouth for our first-introduced-girlfriend be reworked - it's distracting to me - especially on such a sweetheart of lady. But that's not the end of the world and of course that's just my personal taste.

Some constructive criticism incoming.

I notice the word "perfect" coming up a lot in dialogue. The word is really over-used.

There is a lot of dialogue. A lot. Try to make it more conversational and pithy.

There's also certain patterns and trends that can take one out of the story a bit. There's like monologue's where the girls just stand in front of the MC and go on a bit about how great the MC is. That's a bit awkward. I get it that it feeds into a power fantasy, but I still think it's a bit much. It also reduces the girls a bit, they REALLY seem to need the MC... a LOT.

Another pattern, the girls really unload on the MC about... a lot of insecurities. I think there was one cheerleader who didn't do this and it was such a rare thing that it was very refreshing. And the fixer, she seems to buck the trend.

Another pattern, there's so much being packed into the story that it hurts the pacing. Friendly advice - slow it down a bit. I think it would have been a bit more plausible if the MC made more time to practice and help the coach get the team rolling... yes even in this type of game, lol. The MC doesn't need to tackle so much in one day, doesn't need to involve themselves into everything, doesn't need to solve everyone's problems... this is lamp-shaded a bit later on in the game but that doesn't help much, for my tastes. I mean, this poor guy barely has any time to breath. The game may be addressing this with setting up folks to help out the MC with being a celebrity, etc., ... that's probably a good move.

There's so many characters tossed at us, they don't get a lot of time to distinguish themselves... faces become forgettable. My advice is just give them each some space to leave an impression.

There really is a LOT of story jam packed into the time frame. It's fun and I like it. But how it weaves along, especially with the constant house migration, it kinda leaves an impression that the train tracks are being laid barely in time for the train to keep moving. This may not be the case, I'm just saying it leaves that impression. There's the house thing and we've also moved from one villian to the next in rapid succession.

I like the coach, she's a sweetie and she cares about the team. I don't mind the implausibility of her hugging all over the MC, I get it, for this type of game. Still, the MC latches onto Harper so quick... I would have liked a reason why.

Alright, that's enough for now, I didn't take my own advice about being pithy. I don't expect anybody else to share my opinions, different strokes for different folks. I also don't expect the developer to cater to my whims. This is just one dude's impressions so take it for that.

I enjoyed the game and I'm looking forward to seeing how it continues.

I like the concept but there are some flaws I'd like to adress.

First: There is too much love. What I mean by that is there won't pass a day without everyone saying "I love you" to the MC and vice versa. This is why I like to see more of girls like Kimmy (my favourite in terms of looks/body btw) or someone like Anna, because I won't have to read "I love you" every two to three sentences.

Second: I might be the only one - which is fair - but I don't like the fact that the girlfriend and her sister Elizabeth don't look alike at all. And since the mother said at the end she gave birth to both I'll exclude the option of adoption. So either they accidently switched one of the girls at birth with another baby girl (or both lol) or they just don't look alike at all, which is weird. I mean at least the nose would be good.

Third: I don't like Shaunas's design compared to the other girls. While the girls have more of a 3D-effect, Shauna seems to look more like a plain 2D-character.
Additionally to that I wanna praise the dev for changing Emiko's design or even Zoe's face by using less make-up or even Natalie's look. I appreciate the effort and hope Ruby will get a new look. Didn't really like the old one. And also Penny. Even as a girl I don't like her looks but tbh I don't want to fuck literally every single girl in this game. Although It would be awesome to be able to fuck Vanessa or Veronica.

Fourth: Even though the major hate will be towards guys like Ryker or Kenji, there are some other character's personalities I really dislike. For instance Skye. Forget the whole trans-topic and put that aside. The attitude Skye has as a basketball player is ridiculous. It's like I would go towards Lebron James and challenge him to a 1v1 with a cocky attitude, which Skye basically did - and yet lost twice without any chance against the MC by nearly dying the second time.



The positives:

1. Thank you for allowing me to disable the trans-paths. I'm not into this at all so yeah, big plus.
2. Thank you for the basketball topic. I love this sport and thus like to see any kind of interaction with it.
3. I like the diversity. Normally I'm not someone to say such stuff, as I simply don't care as long the model's looks and their personalities are in my liking, but to see that many black women in a VN is a first for me. And with Kimmy, Emiko, Yuki and Purple there are (at least for now) four gorgeous asian girls. So yeah, that's a plus too I guess. Again not really a big deal for me but I guess you wanted it this way and thus I wanted to give you credit for that dev.
4. I like how even though the main topic is basketball we get to see a huge fight for power within WVM and the city and even a drug lord.

The last point I want to ask for is: I hope we can decide for ourselves if we get pregnancy in this game or not (just like we could decide the No-/Cheat-Path and wether some of the girls are trans or not).
I'm not against the pregnancy in general in these games but usually I like it when the MC is with one girl only, because these harems really don't work for me if there is pregnancy in it. But since you can't avoid the huge harem, at least I'd like to avoid the pregnancies.

Stunning game on every level. Some of the most developed writing, while not super eloquent, that keeps the MC an actually believable person who you want to watch/root for as opposed to just a walking dick like in too many vns. The girls are also incredibly detailed/well done physically as well as decently varied so no matter if you have a specific type(Including futa) or are into all shapes and sizes like myself you'll find something.
It's also incredibly wholesome and heartwarming in a way if you let it be. One of the only VNs I'd call more a light romance than anything else, and definitely one of if not the most effective at it, and the romance itself is very well done, you won't(likely) find yourself cringing at the MC or girls' reaction to what he does to further the plot/push sex scenes which a lot of devs do. Only downside is two of the most attractive girls are out of bounds because Braindrop is beholden to Patreon rules against even step-incest, and while this might change going forward it hasn't been encouraged as a possibility. Usually this would change how effective the game is for me but as I've said the game itself is gold without it
Also the thread itself is very entertaining to page through on occasion without seeing it devolve into(too many) inane arguments

I never review any game I play, but holy shit this game gets a pass and not exactly for a good reason.

Most of the renders are good, some characters are very pretty and the idea of having all girls over you is pretty fun, but damn that's overdoing it.

The main issue of the game is how the story constantly tries way too hard to show how perfect and loved by everyone you are. There has been more than a few times where I literally had to stop reading for a few seconds to process all of the cringy and forced shit that's happening. Sure it's a porn game and irrealistic stuff is bound to happen, but it gets so over the top at times that the protagonist feels strangely disconnected from the other characters, like he's some sort of elevated being or divine entity that is on a league totally different than anyone else's. He has practically no human flaws at all , and pretty much every individual met ends up worshipping him after a little while, if not instantly.

Overall the story has some relatively interesting and unexpected moments, such as that one altercation against Ryker and his guys outside of the bowling alley. However, the rest of the time is spent continuously showing how unflawed the main character is. I'd have no problem with that if it was done moderately, but the game insists SO much on this aspect that it gets very cringy in a very weird (and borderline creepy) way.

Overall, it's currently an okay game with a very good amount of sexual content and quality renders, but I absolutely do not suggest this if you're looking for character development or an interesting and coherent plot.
