Well, I gotta respect BD on his decision and there is nothing wrong with his decision to work solo. There had been a number of posting people suggest BD to get assistance to his project, and BD repeatedly said he does not need any help.
As for release dates, there is no reason for him to put himself in a fix schedule like he has in the past, yet. During year 2020 was a complicated year for him that side track him regarding to personal issue(s). I am sure it may started way back in mid year 2019. He would not be the only developer who planned not to announce when the release date or schedule dates. Some only show the project completion percentage how they are in their project. Otherwise, there is no need to say what the release date schedule.
Well, if you see that Patreon says he get $17k per month, do not forget there are fees and etc that reduce that numbers down. on top of that. There are other fee and payments after Patreon payment. Just think about it if you a private contractor do a job, you would figure it all out that it wouldn't be 17k per month. In addition, you have payments and bills to take care of as well.
If you are new in this forum, you may have missed that BD had paused the Patreon multiple times. He had posted it several times during year 2020, part of 2019, and maybe part of 2021. Since he has done that, it doesn't mean he had earned 17k that month. Some Patreon subscriber has informed him there is no need for him to pause it several times. However that was based on BD decision (Doesn't matter that we agree or disagree with that). Have to respect his decision on that.
So above explains a little bit of the earning, which it one of the few reason why it better off working solo on the project, unless you have a solid team already in place before starting the project. Some developers works on more than one projects, which they may be part of the team or lead a team. BD have gotten himself comfortable working solo, which does everything from the beginning to release in a cycle. Also working solo for BD make him feel more comfortable and have more control of the development. If there is an issue, he would know that it all on him, no one else. If you have a team, maybe they would help each other resolve the issue without blaming each other. However it can be other way around.
Keep in mind, BD created the WVM story, he does all the work. As we see in the VN, it is not a simple work since not only the main character, you have all the other characters in the VN. I treat him as an author of an novel of this VN, there may be somethings I may not agree, however I rather allow him to provide his story. I do not post any complaint or anything like that. Not only WVM, I do not give negative feedback or complaint on any other VN in F95. If I find any VN that does not fit for me, I would tell the developer the best of success and leave that VN forum. I truly believe to provide errors, issues, assistance, solution, etc on the form. I rarely provide any negative feedback because I would like any developer to continue to complete their project if possible.

Once that happens maybe we'll see strengthening their "coach-team captain" bond and get caught up in the moment together while doing some 1-on-1 training sessions.
