Braindrop on discord:

Gonna drop whatever I have ready on the morning of the 24th right before I leave. (Was supposed to leave on the night of the 23rd but I'd honestly prefer the 24th anyway so it works out.)
It will at least contain everything up until the end of the spa trip, hopefully more but at least that and the rest will drop whenever everything is fixed sometime before new years.
"The board is set, and the pieces are moving."

Well, it looks like BD has set himself up for his next excuse(s), as to why he'll miss another rolling deadline. Wasn't there some talk about testers? Did he send them a half-baked, incomplete pile to "test"? (Yes we all know that there are no testers, just fun to see how he gets caught in lies all the time).

Anyway, my bet is that the following happens:

1) He was going to drop the "whatever I have done" update but the game kept crashing on compiling/packaging/whatever and he didn't have time to look into the error before the holidays.
.....OR....
2) Packing for his trip took longer than expected and BD had some unforeseen issues involving suitcase zippers which caused him to have to stay up all night on the 23rd. However, since he had to drive to the airport (or wherever he is fictionally going to), he wanted to sleep a few hours on the 24th, so that he would be rested and not fall asleep while driving (or in case he needed to fly a plane). He was going to start the upload as soon as he got up from his quick nap, but he forgot to set his alarm and woke up with just minutes to spare before he had to leave. He hit the upload button, but because he was in the process of leaving he had already set the "going away mode" on his NEST, and part of the protocol NEST uses in "going away mode" is to turn down the temperature in the house, as well as the throttle down the internet speed. (I bet you didn't know how much energy you save by just turning down your internet a few MBs in the winter ;)). When he realized that the "going away" protocol was in effect, BD scrambled to undo it. However, he realized that he had forgotten his PIN code, and he couldn't reach the NEST help center due to it being a Sunday and Christmas Eve. He wanted to wait to upload before he left for the year, but uploading 4 GB of data on his now 250kbs connection would take over a day. BD decided to pull the plug on the upload, go to his discord, and let the lemmings know....

"YO, You won't believe what happened to me........ I was packing for my trip and had to stay up all night because the suitcase zippers malfunctioned......."

BD has my permission to use either excuse (with the proper citation of course) if his is looking for one since we know he frequents this board.....even though he's made himself out to be invisible or offline when clicking on his profile.

According to dev report 32 episode 13 events are: 1 trip to the spa, 2 meeting Daliah, 3 checking on Rachel. So if we get at least everything up until the end of the spa trip, does that mean we get 1/3th of an update?
in time you will learn to NOT trust everything you read from ours truly brain dead aka duck lover... ;)

Excuses translated into Braindropese:

1) One of the scenes isn't up to standards and needs more work. It's an important scene, but it it will be worth it in the end. I just need to figure out how to fit a round peg into a square hole.

2) The trip had some unforeseen delays. The pilot was incapacitated and I had to take over and fly the plane. Unfortunately a lightning strike disabled the radios and navigation gear, so I had to navigate by starlight. On approach for landing, we flew into a flock of birds (fortunately not ducks!), lost both engines, but through sheer will power I managed to land the plane. Unfortunately due to the engines catching fire, we had to evacuate the aircraft via the slides after the emergency landing, and my laptop with the game update was left on board the aircraft. It's going to be a few weeks until the airline is able to return it to me, and I'll have to see if there is any damage from the firefighting foam.

Either of the above seems plausible, but I think you are correct that college football is the more likely delay for the update to actually ship.

But you forgot to say that MacKenzie has a copy of the update and she will release it if his laptop didn't survive the crash.

As long as BD doesn't go all Doctor Frankenstein on us, we don't have to expect this account to be mentioned again.

What's the event that everyone seems to be referring to with regards to this game's development? Is it just the usual scam or something more? Does it have anything to do with all the current models being fucking hideous?

it was good about 3 years ago. Then he went radio silent for 2 years. within those 2 years he kept promising a release. this year he kinda came back and releases bad/mediocre updates at best while still missing every single deadline he personally sets by weeks or even months. Last update was supposed to release somewhere mid november iirc. Now he wants to release an update that, judging by his last patreon post is only 1/3 of the promised update which means he didn´t do jackshit.

In here he´s already known as scam artist. So to answer your question: Yes, it´s the usual scam. Only difference here is that he still has a large cult surrounding him which is ready to suck his dick even if he only releases parts of what he promised.

I'm going to be honest, I don't understand that last message from Braindop, does he mean that he will release the update today or that he will leave everything ready to release it later?

Yes

Basically, he doesn't have the now 1month+ delayed release ready.... and he's going to release whatever he has done tomorrow (assuming US timezones). At some point when he gets back, he will "create, fix, finish, write, test" the rest of the delayed release and provide it to us. The same release that he had in his last "progress bar" status post that was like 90% done.

Now if you believe any of that, or believe anything the dev is posting regarding release dates or his plethora of excuses, I have a bridge to sell you ;)

so that's why my comment praising the game was responded to with jokes, I had no idea how long it took for updates from this developer, I didn't even know the f95 website until recently, I always download games from a website in my language since my English is rubbish.

don't worry mate, we all must learn from our mistakes and strive to do better next time. can't say the same about our magnanimous leaking brain here.. but alas it is what it is. :cautious:
I have to wonder though.. doesn't he get tired of saying these ridiculous excuses?!

Unfortunately, learning from mistakes does not necessarily mean learning the right thing. Especially if one finds oneself in a filter bubble. Comparable to the Simpsons episode in which Mr. Burns lost his nuclear power plant because he surrounded himself with yes-men.
