That's how scammers get you. They even do such a good job and then close up shop and eventually re-open under a different name to scam again. I'll give you an example. This was around 10 years ago. My mom had used a snow removal company for one winter. She told me they did a good job and kept them for the next year. The following year he wanted cash up front instead of a check. I told my mom that was sketchy. I didn't argue with her because she was going through chemo at the time. I probably should have because the guy did not show up anymore and disconnected his phone lines. I am more upset with myself because I should have dealt with this because my mom was too weak and sick from the chemo. I did some digging I found this guy was using different company names. This guy scammed a ton of people, including someone else I knew.
That's why I hate Patreon and I am firm believer of paying for a COMPLETED project.

ya know... i keep thinking... Maybe we´re all wrong and this is exactly what happenes. just imagine... the time it takes BD to release a single update is so long that other devs release 2-3 updates or even more in that timespan. I wouldn´t be surprised if in reality he´s working on a different game under an alias, keeps milking his WVM subs while also milking others with the second game.

Or...maybe....he's not doing anything. How does anyone actually to know he's truly working on a episode? He creates a couple of "previews" here and there to keep fans excited and happy. With the way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if he has nothing. Something similar to the dev of I believe AVA or whatever that game was called. He hyped his episode for months, posted previews and they week of the release, closes up shop.ya know... i keep thinking... I'm sorry about your mother, it's frustrating when people that we care about are hurt and we can't do anything to protect them.
Well that's one thing, but the final part is another story.
Patreon, subscribestar... in short, any means of financing. They are necessary and a great tool to allow developers to dedicate themselves to creating games.
It's not that I don't understand that of hating patreon when there are developers who take the money and don't do a job, any resemblance to what BD does is mere coincidence, but we don't put all developers in the same bag.

Here is what probably happened and why the delay on the update. Morbil was probably trying to surprise BD for Christmas. So Morbil took off their pants and walk over to where BD was hard at work on the update. Once Morbil was standing next to BD they said surprise and BD turn to look and took a dick in eye, which has prevented him from finishing the update and BD can't say anything because his mouth is full of Morbil's cock. LOLso he hasn´t said anything except a cristmas gif at the 24th so he hasn´t said a word for 4 days.
