Someone on his Discord should ask him who. Who is it? That shouldn't be a secret, right...?

Who is helping BD to fix this issue that's holding up his first release? Is it another Dev? A member? Surely it doesn't need to be a secret who this individual is that is offering to help you sort this out. Name names! So that we can thank this person for trying to help. Not "someone".

He claims he wants transparency. If I was him writing this post, I would name the person. Gives more credence to the excuse, see. Better yet, snap shot your convo with them discussing the issues. Show the Discord proof for dates and times. Full transparency.

And it is the compiling excuse again. It seems to be the new FOTM (Or EOTY, Excuse Of The Year). Not like he could add one extra screen for the last version, release it (as an "update only") so that they have a save screen that can be read by the release with a new build...

Hey everyone, I hope the start of the new year is going well for all of you.

I'm going to get straight into the bad news, the time that I'm typing this is the same time I thought I'd be packaging the final release but things are not completely fixed yet.
I wanted to set one final release date after the shitty year of 2024 just to show I could hit one and show that things will be different this year. Bad start for that, but I'm not going to let today define the year.

I'm not going to make any excuses, as I've mentioned there was some life stuff I had to handle that ate the majority of my time this week and I wasn't efficient enough with the time I had left.
I thought I had all of the issues figured out and just had to apply them, even up until late last night I thought everything was golden and I didn't have the urgency needed for the situation.
But issues still persist, though on a much smaller scale than before. I'm currently in talks with someone who knows what they're doing and has had a similar packaging issue and they've been helping me troubleshoot it all.
Things are very, very close. In the past delays were mostly caused by issues I had with the content that I ended up remaking, that isn't the case here. It's a miss but it won't be a major miss.

For Patrons, I am offering refunds for anyone charged in December of 2024 and/or before this post in January 2025.
Please just DM me here on Patreon and I'll have a refund sent your way shortly.
Pledges will also be paused until the rest of E13 is released, this will not be a long pause.

In the past this is when I would have gone silent for a bit, maybe a post on the discord saying I'm still working and things will be out asap, constantly moving the timeframe back by hours as I figure things out.
I don't want to do that, I don't want to panic and stay awake for 72 hours straight and feel dead for two weeks after.
I have a horrible habit of making a mistake and then trying to make up for it by overpromising too much only to lead into many more mistakes that just spiral out of control, not doing that this year.

I stayed up last night trying to have things ready for today, I'm going to rest for a bit and then get right back to it. Things will be released as soon as they're ready. I don't see it taking any longer than by tomorrow or the next day but admittedly I didn't see it taking longer than today initially so I'm not promising another date. That's a mistake I'm only going to make once this year.
I'm sorry for that, I thought this time would be different but that was foolish with how much was going on with life and I should've never promised anything around technical difficulties as I'm not in control of them.

It's a bad start to the year for me and my goals but we're only 5 days in. Let's see how the next 5 days go.

If he seriously does have Renpy issues, he could just ask on the Renpy discord. It's AVN friendly there and has a lot of people (including RenpyTom himself) that help users with their issues.

But I think we all know he doesn't have Renpy issues. He's doing the same thing he's been doing for years. He can't bring himself to release anything because it either doesn't exist, or he can't stop reworking it.

So each and every deadline, an issue pops up to delay the update again. Even if he swears up and down the update is done and will be released in a day, or even hours, whatever issue that comes up is too big to overcome. Because the issue is actually BD himself.

I don't care about his reason episode 13 was "finished" via his own words over a fucking year ago.. 14 was near finished so his current state of "not finished don't quite like it" it was already done over a year ago it was just going to final play testing right before release and didn't have much more to do to complete episode 14. At this rate he is quite literally just milking the money until his subscribers finally catch on and stop giving him the cash. Lets face it if your making 20k a month for doing nothing most people would milk it till the donators catch on.. and its not like anybody can legally sue him for it.

Well no surprise there, another missed deadline, the first (of many) of 2025.
This goes to show how a dev that shown so much promise in the start, has turned out to be the major fuckup of the lot.
Worst part? Probably the fact that he doesnt learn from his mistakes and keeps on repeating them.
How is that old saying? "Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it!"
In the case of braindrop would more accurate to say: Those that dont learn from past mistakes are bound to repeat them.
How many times were that he gave release dates that he didnt meet? Lost count.
And in every one of those failed release dates he was ALWAYS told not to give any more release dates unless he was absolutely sure he could meet them.
And every times he ends up apologising and saying he wont do it again.
Words without actions are meaningless, he had several oportunities to change his ways, but he wont change.
He´s a train wreck waiting to happen.
So lets enjoy the fireworks!
