This is just a matter of not knowing how to evolve the character you create. Developers either mimic real life or fantasy. In this case as you alluded to, he is not aware or just does not understand how to do it. Maybe one day another modder will finish it for him. There are a lot of great games out there, so no sense in wasting anymore time here.

It isn't baffling because it is sadly exactly what milkers do. They focus promotion (screenshots/stills/side content like DITLO:H) on the most popular character and then any actual updates only tease content with that character. I think forum rules preclude me from mentioning other games/milking devs on the same path but I think this is a very intentional choice on BD's part.
Also, the "evil modder" thing was pretty transparently a wink-wink, nudge-nudge statement that he'd add that content back in in a patch off of Patreon at some point, that just got completely dropped when his update schedule imploded.

the basketball game (where MC plays) won’t happen until roughly August 2024. BD himself even confirms it.

i don;'t even care about the game he plays in i doubt we ever will see that LOL but even this "practice" game as been dragged out so long i just want it done with to see the results i would have even preferred a few less sex scene this update if it meant we got the dam basketball in i don't even like sports...
at this rate how much you want bet the game will be 10 seconds of "basketball game 1/5", "basketball game 2/5"
BD has drag this out so much that if he does that BS this time I'm going to riot! and im sure i won't be the only one.

Hell yeah... One of my... if not my most favorite game is back to being updated again. I love this game. The females in the game are completely relatable, and the storyline just sucks you in and makes you believe that you are the MC. I can't stop playing this game. 
Well that's hopeful of you. We still haven't seen the one he doesn't play in, yet.

I'm pretty sure the name change is only possible because of a mod and I think even there only the first name (it's been a while since I started a new playthrough). Other than that I don't think it's easily doable in a render.

-characters we don´t even know are buddy buddy with mc cuz hey... it´s getting explained in the rework we´re still waiting for
-character models just change midstory cuz braindead can´t even remember how the characters look after doing almost nothing for 2 years
-black boxes to hide MC´s face (probably cuz we didn´t have sex with our alter ego yet
) And don´t even get me started about the "story"

Sooo...the only choice you have is if you like a specific LI...once you've decided to like them there's NO avoiding any fetishes they're into & as far as I can tell you can't even back out of their path if you Don't want any part of it, the worst part is (hypothetical scenario following) you like girl #6, you're now 'locked' into her doing whatever she wants to you without being able to stop it, she likes using a strap on & you're not into it?....TFB, you're fucked....LITERALLY lmfao.
