Come on , let's be honest ... nobody sane expects the sports to be more than background for a porn game . The argument is usually that it's not even that , not even a proper flimsy background . It's a theme , and you don't just usually ditch the theme midway to do whatever

I can literally screencap you a whole lesbian volley ball harem game , or any other "sports" game with barely any volleyball going on , but you'd still get stuff in the background keeping the illusion alive . Like fake training sessions , fake teams , and fake match results . WVM hasn't even bothered with that in a long time .
Hell dev was much more invested in the sperm donor side job lol

After a rough start to your life, you're finally ready to head off to college. As the top high school recruit in basketball you could have went to any school anywhere in the country. Although due to your relationship with your new mother you decide to go to WVM. It was a move that shocked many as WVM is not known for its basketball team. In fact they didn't even manage to win a game last year. All eyes are on you to perform and turn the team around. Your humble past will be tested and many temptations lay before you. How will you handle being the star on campus?

You'd figure it would be more rooted in the story. Could change it to that the MC was some kind of young movie star that decided to return to school and it would fit the story a little better (girls throwing themselves at the MC in hordes so large you have to give them f'd up names for them all). Just remove the basketball stuff and change Harper to any ol' professor. Change the sport rival into another star returning or something.

But overall the basketball crap is the least of this games problems right now.

Sure it's hardly the bigger issue , but dev not even being able to handle a background theme properly , says a lot about all of the actual big issues , and how he approaches the game's evolution and development . It paints a whole picture

easy, the bowling event. its the last time WVM had any semblance of story, it was the point in which he started adding 5 LIs after every update, broke down and started.... stalling, went all out with the duck faces and spooky expressions, etc.
What an awful night that was.

Its quite funny thinking back about how this used to be one of the more promising projects and devs on this site. fuck bowling man.

The current update was originally supposed to be released at the end of last year, even if this project is not officially abandoned, and by that I mean the tag since BD is still getting good money from its supporters, we are on a damn good way.

One can promise a lot, but if one does not deliver, these promises are just hot air.

I'd third the bowling event. The story had issues before that (teasing incest BD already knew wasn't going to happen, story already dragging too slowly [literally took years to get to the first exhibition game lol], princess in the basement, idiotic sperm donor job, MC's dick getting cut in half, etc.), but the bowling event is when the rickety mine cart went clear off the rails.

We introduce ten new chicks, some of whom are so poorly fleshed out they have colors for names. The fight is pure melodramatic insanity and is the point when a fairly grounded plot about a college basketball star pulls in the standard bad writing tropes of international crime cartels and conspiracies all centering on some little town in the middle of nowhere. And this is the point when the number of girls gets so huge that interactions become painfully formulaic; MC interacts with a girl in private, they break down crying saying how important the MC is to them for no discernable reason, fucking happens, rinse, repeat. The chapters immediately after the bowling scene feel like a fever dream if you hold down the skip button; the MC just goes from room to room in his newest mansion, hugging a different crying girl in each room, occasionally getting a blowjob. Cut to MC getting into bed with increasingly silly numbers of women cuddled up with him.

That last really feels like a joke. I don't care how gentle and loving you imagine the MC's relationship with these girls, how happy are they to be the tenth woman to crawl into the same bed so they can maybe touch his fingers while they sleep?

Pretty sure that's been explained many times now (sunk-cost fallacy). Problem is if they finally break the mindset, I doubt they'd go support another more worthy game.
