Truthfully, I don't think there are. I used to give BD the benefit of the doubt and assume he was just a serial procrastinator. I think that might be the core issue, but he's also very clearly invested in lying and, frankly, fucking with his audience.
The teasing about everything from incest to duck faces goes way beyond humor and seems genuinely vindictive. And I guarantee he's lying about some things around Mckenzie/Dionyx. He's lying to his audience, very intentionally, and at this point I think he's doing so in part because he finds it fun.

it's not so much "our" money being taken away on the 1st, so much as patreon "holds" income processing for whom it "owes" until the 1st of the month, for things such as refunds, rebates, cancellations, tiering-down, or account bans
for instance, if all of us went and dropped 100$ tier on BD next week, he wouldn't actually "get" that money until the 1st of November

Let's be real, most of the people in this thread will probably play the update. Doesn't mean people should/will be quietly putting up with the mountain of obvious lies that eventually leads to it. It doesn't sit right with me seeing a scam unfold before me, I personally don't like dishonest people or ones that try to take advantage of others, but nothing we can do about it, everyone is free to do what they want.
So people either move on, or blast out the meme's for a laugh, and hope the ones still stuck in the matrix eventually figure it out too. At least this thread has been entertaining the past few months. Yeah there's absolutely zero point in grabbing up whatever fucked up update he's about to serve up with a hot, fresh pile of excuses to go along with it. If I'm waiting for a year, I'm expecting more than a couple hundred renders and them all being with random gaps in between them. This one is going to be purely so he can show on paper that he released something. It's 100% a CYOA move. Looking out for numero uno as always.

My curiosity is the only reason I'll be playing the update. I've found since starting to develop my own game I notice a lot of small things in VN's that I overlooked or didn't really see when I was only a player and I haven't played a WVM update through that lens yet. I like to see what kinds of things other games do or don't do. As an example the transitions between renders are something I didn't really think about/ truly notice as a player. Some dev's do a great job at using transitions to enhance a scene and some barely use them at all. A well placed fade to black before fading in the next render can give a sense of time passing while a dissolve can be used to imitate motion and can be used to mock really simple animations (Works for things like blinks, hand waves, head shakes etc.). I actually mean it when I say I'm playing porn games for research purposes now a days.

Gotta see both good and bad. WVM actually does have both, there has just been way more bad than good for a long time. It's why the thread is so decisively against BD now. If people hadn't truly cared about or enjoyed the project at one point in time they would have developed apathy instead of strong aversion towards BD.
