It seems BD is passive/aggressive. I think he does it to fuck with people.
This needs to be repeated more. Whether he's malicious in lying about updates, he's definitely annoyed at some of his fans and gets back at them by doubling down on things they hate (thiccness, duckface, teasing incest, splitting updates, teasing Harper, etc.).

The meaning of Beta has changed over the years, and the waters have been muddied even further with terms such as Early Access.
I was taught:
Alpha: Functional build that lacks game-mechanics/features often uses placeholder assets.
Beta: All gameplay mechanics/features/assets implemented, optimization and bug crushing still needed.
RC (Release Candidate): Build that undergoes full QA testing, unless major bugs are found will become GA.
GA (General Availability) i.e. Final: Public Release.
from a technical standpoint a lot of AVNs are in a perpetual state of Beta but there are ones out there that do a somewhat more traditional release schedule by doing episodic releases that provide early builds (Beta) to some if not all supporters before wide spread release.
Edit: this was before patching afterwards was a widespread practice; in my opinion this practice seems to have dropped the GA altogether and made the players/customers the QA.

Best course of action for you would either be
1-stay here and hear the truth all the time
2-join his discord and be banned the moment you say something "They don't like"
3-be a lurker and that includes being quiet
Now about the mods. They have given up on this Thread because of BD himself, Before they used to watch this place but once BD did or said what he said Mods said "FUCK BD" and there was once a different thread called pool party but even they also found BD to be a sickness.
So either deal with 1 and 2 or 3 will be your best bet
