This story is so all over the place from the original game, i feel like its 4 updates away from magic and dragons and him being some long lost royalty from another world.
Over the years of this game's development I've also thought that either BD has an addiction issue or after the dramatic change in game quality/design/style after the first year, that someone else was now developing it.I was bored and it seems I keep coming back to check on the train wreck that is WVM.
I have no idea about the quality of the last update or since I deleted the game. However, the subject of addiction being brought up is a serious one. It can take many forms, such as drug, alcohol or gambling.
From my basic knowledge of how addictions work is that until they admit there is a problem, nothing will change. Regardless of what the addiction is, or what lead to the addiction.
They might lie, cheat and steal to keep up thier addiction. It's easy to lie to people you don't have to deal with face to face. Especially when people keep trusting you to do better, and you keep failing each and every single time.
You don't have to steal so much when people just throw money at you. But your still being dishonest about how you actually earn that money.
And for cheating, you cheat people out of what you keep promising them, by over promising and under preforming time after time . He might have people willing to pay, but that don't mean he ain't cheating them.
I wish addiction on no one and not even saying BrainDrop is addicted to anything. At this point, I think If he said he had a problem , I would think he was lying about that and trying to use it as a crutch. It's not a thought I'm proud of, but the man has made me a beliver that I can't believe a word he writes.
I dunno .... i get that it comes from a nice place from likely nicer people than me , but all of this , the addiction , mental issues theories etc , feel like a huge stretch , and people trying to come up with reasons or rather mitigating circumstances , for a thieving scum, to not just be that . Till something genuine actually pops up , I don't believe he's some traumatized bean turned "villain".
I just see someone that probably already had a lying streak in him , that worked well and hard for something (my opinion on the game non-withstanding) , met some instant success , became complacent , took things for granted , started lying to cover up bouts and lapse in laziness , and then kept lying more and more , at a bigger scope , when it started unraveling and snowballing .
Now he's just caught in his own web of BS , but won't let go of that money and fame .

There's also a third possibility that ties in with the addiction. BD is a massive procrastinator who at this point is "addicted" to failing to deliver. Similar to how gambling addicts crave the massive "rush" from losing, not winning like you'd rationally expect. His behavior at this point follows a regular pattern which plenty have noted here.
Promises release date --> lists work being done --> has "event" that delays delivery --> new release date --> more delays
--> 1000/2000/3000 render update split up into smaller "parts" --> more delays --> small release --> rinse/repeat
Add in radio silence intermittently to the above.
My money's on sociopath. Now he's just caught in his own web of BS , but won't let go of that money and fame .
I think this is most likely the reality, it fits Occam's razor. Surprise success resulted in more money than a young guy could imagine, now doesn't want it to end and does the minimal effort for it to continue. For the first 6-9 months BD had a great work ethic.I dunno .... i get that it comes from a nice place from likely nicer people than me, but all of this, the addiction, mental issues theories etc, feel like a huge stretch, and people trying to come up with reasons or rather mitigating circumstances, for a thieving scum, to not just be that. Well there is no "Unless it's a friend and they didn't want anyone to know out of fear of losing support." when money is involved, personal experience of mine say that there is no friendship when my livehood and abillity to pay my bill and provide for my familly is threatened, the only way i see BD agreeing to any of that is a contract between him and the newly developer which states that the new dev will give percentages to BD for the use of character names/models which BD had already bought from daz store ....I thought this was a possibility at one point, because he seems so different and the development went off the rails. Looking at it realistically though I'd say it's highly unlikely. This game was so successful right from the start. How much would it take to buy it out? At least a few hundred thousand if it was me. That's just the starting point. If he kept a percentage of the game I'm sure he'd have the option to take the game back if the development wasn't to his liking or if the new developer was bleeding supporters. That's something you would do with someone you know and trust. Whoever this is sure as shit isn't trustworthy.
Hey almost anything is possible, life has taught me that.
Yeah it's a nightmare. Hopefully it worked out okay for them.
Unless it's a friend and they didn't want anyone to know out of fear of losing support. I don't think that's the case, but it's possible. As much as things have gone off the rails I think he would've taken development back. Unless he's getting money and doesn't care.
Do you mean any scenes with Azel??Is there going to be any update of Azell or not?
Omg what if he has a huge shame kink, this thread would be his holy grailOver the years of this game's development I've also thought that either BD has an addiction issue or after the dramatic change in game quality/design/style after the first year, that someone else was now developing it.

Azel? I had mentioned that she would have to go over to Grandma's House to expand her horizons. Other than that, no changes are expected. Is there going to be any update of Azell or not?
He paused billing after a number of missed deadlines, the unfinished update was a means to start charging people for incomplete work.whats the point of uploading an update that's missing crucial part of the VN? lol baffling
