I've gone past the stage of trying to understand, then past the stage of getting mad at him, then even past the stage of making jokes...
TODAY, I've honestly accepted that we're facing a high risk of this project being abandoned. If I had to bet, I'd divide it up like this:
- 52.8% chance: he'll simply abandon the project and disappear, without any justification;
- 40.3% chance: he'll announce that he's given up and/or will take a long hiatus (whatever the argument, I don't care, because he's a liar);
- 6.4% chance that he'll (TRY) to continue as he is, extending deadlines, saying that it's ready while he's still working, always delaying, making excuses as much as he can, releasing very little from time to time... BUT, it's unlikely that this will last, because the vast majority of funders have already lost patience (even old cultists are already giving up);
- 0.5% chance: he will act like a professional, like an adult, be responsible, be honest, deliver the project regularly as he did in the beginning (less talk, more work).
