You know what I find funny is that everyone is upset that the MC got arrested in the last update, but I don't remember that happening. I did see him handcuffed and taken to prison, but I never saw him get officially arrested. Sure he is in a jail cell, but there are no charges brought up against him, he was never given his Maranda rights (I know that is not required until your are being placed under arrest which can be delayed by I think 24-48 hours), and he was never offered a phone call. He was told he is being held for questioning and that is it.

We know there was media coverage there, as well as the eye witnesses (the ninja and Wendy). There will most likely have to be a tox screening done on Ryker and probably the goons as well. I am almost positive that Damien is going to turn over everything he knows to cut a deal too.

I think the bigger question would be did Moon head home after she couldn't get in the bowling alley/conduct an interview or did she stick around to try to get some extra footage for the interview with the MC?

The fact that I pledged and promoted the game has nothing to do with the creation of the game, you are right. The reason I said that to start my post was to illustrate that my comments were coming from some one who loved the game.

If we did not discuss elements of the story we liked and didn't like this forum would not exist. If your philosophy is that these are all porn games and none of them are realistic then I guess anything goes. So if in the next update aliens came down to Earth to fill in for the missing members of the WVM basketball team, you'd be good with that?

It worked for Space Jam and that's getting a Sequel so why not ?

We have a very similar "stand your ground" law in Canada as well so I understand that point quite well.

I just want to point out that SYG laws typically require that you return only equal amounts of force and last i checked a Hummer is 3tons and generates more force even at 5mph than a MLB player swinging a bat which Ryker most certainly isnt.

There's no justifiable use of force for vehicular assault that's why it has it's own crime statute.

The Willow scene was spoiled when Mom came into the room with a bloody nose. The Natalie/Harper scene is really just a repeat of another scene earlier in the story.

When did that happen? Willow was never in the same spot as Wendy in this release. Also Wendy got punched in the eye not the nose.

Let's recap as many of the heartwarming/sweet scenes in detail that I can remember off the top of my head since I don't feel you actually played the full update but just skipped around.

• We open with Willow still not wanting to be removed from the MC side (kinda sweet)
• We get the story about Tali and both Jamie and Shauna show their love to her with a group hug (another sweet moment)
• We see Tali and Shauna bonding over video games (another sweet moment for a girl who has had limited to no contact with people outside Rachael and other fixers)
• You get Azel Willow and the MC bond while Jamie sneaks in a picture (another cute moment)
• You get the heart warming story of how Jamie and the MC became a thing.
• You get another heart warming moment when Willow tells the MC about the leg lock they did as kids to sleep. They both do this on the spot as well.
• You get another moment when Willow was worried that the MC left without saying goodbye to her.
• All this before you leave your girls
• Then you go to the bowling event and see how the MC puts Harper over all the people trying to get his attention 2 movie stars, people from the charity, and Moon who wants to interview him (another sweet moment)
• You get the reverse hug from Harper and pretty power step in their relationship
• You hear the concern of Harper for her Daughter.
• You get the moment at the end of the cheer performance with all the hugs and kisses.
• You get the moment with Zoe where she almost admits she wants the MC as a boyfriend
• Harpers reaction after she realized you saved her
• Azel and Wendy crying as the MC is being taken away

Now I don't know how you can't find at least a few sweet or heartwarming moments in all that.

I really feel you are just complaining to complain at this point.

I did read it and that still wouldn't apply.

You cannot presume kidnapping here as we don't know what Damien was doing with the incapacitated subject. You also cannot state it lives up to the aggravated battery claim as that requires premeditation and affirming the mens rea of Ryker which would almost certainly fail the knowing state of mind check due to drug usage and other influcences on his state of mind.

In addition to that no one would ever say running people over with a car is returning the same force (jusitifiable) as hitting some one with a bat.

As a matter of law SYG in this situation fails on a number of fronts and can even backfire as the MC can be seen as the agressor given that he provoked the fight by taunting the group after being given ample time to flee for help after witnessing the initial beatdown.

yeah .. he is really only detained .. they can't arrest you for info ... at least not here in the U.S. so unless this game takes place in some other country .. he is not arrested ... if anyone would get arrested .. it would be MC's birth mother ...

a. if the person is taken into custody (check)
b. before any statement is given in police presence that the prosecution wants to use as evidence

If you feel the game has gone downhill or that BD has "lost his way" then so be it, that's not for me to argue. From my perspective most of the things you were criticizing have been a constant since the beginning.

That's absolutely true, by day 5 I've already lost all my hopes on this game being the game I was expecting and I guess this guy reached his limit in this update. But one thing is certain: this is BD's way from the beginning. He has not lost his way, he's just going on further on it. You can feel dissapointed by the game not living to YOUR expectations (I do) but the trend is clear since the day MC first arrives at WVM. So we can just quit or try to enjoy what he's offering to us.

And LocoGringo78, no, running a car over people who are not attacking you nor other people at that moment (they were just approaching MC but not beating him to dead IN THAT VERY MOMENT), hardly falls under those circumstances you alledged. Why she isn't arrested yet is one of the points BD would have to explain quite well in next updates. My wild guess is that she will be arrested once Ryker and the other guys explain their version to the police, thus leading to another hurtful breakup moment in which now the mom is taken away from her son, just as her son was taken away from her when he was a child.

And while I can imagine she could say she was just walking by and got punched, and this could match Ryker's false accusations of MC being the driver, do you really think she's gonna allow her son getting charged for her actions? Totally fair feelings tbh. I knew it'd be a controversial release.
I suppose all there is to say is that I'm grateful for all you've done and I hope you can come to enjoy things wvm related again.

Hmm I feel I should clear my first reaction post..

I am most assuredly not on the hate train, quite on the contrary.
I upped my pledge prior to the release and would still do so.
Hoping BD will finally open up the pledges again. Take my money already!

The alley fight just hit me in a couple of wrong places.
Like The Krypt Angel said, the hit Wendy received was one of the things.
The fight and the aftermath cost me, literally, 3 nights of sleep. Yay for coffee..

BUT!!
Does that mean the game is bad? Nope
Does that mean I do not like it any more and do not like BDs work any more? Nope
Do I look forward to 8.1? Effing YES!

There are so many things that are just great. The work done on the eyes is just fantastic.
There is progress not only in the story but also in the artwork and that is nothing less than impressing considering the high standard it started with.

My personal request to BD woud be:
- resolve this mess MC is in as soon as possible
- Drama yes, but maybe toned down a little in the future
( My sleeping pattern would be very grateful )


Again, a request, nothing more.
As stated so often, it is BDs story and his alone to tell, the way he wants to.
And he is doing an effing great job with it.

In the United States, he is under arrest regardless of if the cops said the word "arrest" or not. Also Miranda rights being required to be read to arrest someone is a myth, they have to tell you those before interrogation. Usually they are read at the time of arrest because anything you say before they do so can't be used in court, and they want to be able to do so. It isn't a legal requirement though, just a procedural norm.
