I am what you could call a music illeterate. I can't hum a tune to save my life. All that to say that I am not someone that can feel the music as much as the next person and it would take me tremendous amount of time to organise audio files for a game and it would not be good. On the other hand when I put my own music and play (youtube random) a game like WVM I sometime become anoyed at what I am listening to because the mood dont match at all. Even for someone like me for whom music is this almost abstract thing it still helps me get in the mood. And I am not even talking about ambient sound yet. I still think sound amd music are important even if it is a subject in wich I will always be a néophite.
When BD has doubts about his musical abilitys I see something that I can relate too. I agree that is talent and the abilitys that he has are better spent elsewere. But it does not mean that a budget for sound can't be amased and used to contract a sound or music profesional that could work part time or on contract on WVM. Sure it would most likely still be royalty free sound and music but it would still be better than what BD can do by himself. If done well it could bring a lot to WVM.
Is it worth it to dedicate a budget to sound and music? that is an other question to answer. In the mean time I am of the opinion that music would bring a lot to WVM as long as it doesn't take away from the rest of the great game that BD provides us.
Edit: I try to do a resonable take on the audio subject and put it in context in a post that took me some time to rite only to see, in the mean time, others saying that it is more fun to talk about the characters and their adventures and agreeing with them.
