Wut. Cloud and Tifa are an item. Its confirmed multiple times, and in the original game they bang before the final boss.

There's also the fact that no matter who's right in the canon debate. X3D isn't some representative for SquareEnix or associated with it's development (as far as we know), so it doesn't matter what the actual canon is as it's all R34 anyway which follows whatever rules you want them to follow. Either way it was fun reading this fandom go back & forth on what they accept as canon.

From what all I'm learning from you guys, it keeps sounding Tifa is actually the one losing most of the time LMAO. Girl needed an alternate universe whatamacallit scenario so she could actually score vs dead girl impaled by 9 foot sword.

Tifa does "win" in the end in the original. But because of Nomura's incompetence, a lot of Cloud's character after the original gets butchered into a one trick pony, by which somehow Kingdom Hearts made things worse. So as now, it's a "Yeah they both like each other but they won't get it on".

Well, they didn't end up becoming a couple, which is why they've been called “tragic lovers,” so technically he's not cheating on her (even though he'll never forget her).

Could we say that she lost at the beginning but came back at the end? Dirge of Cerberus is the last piece of lore we have in the original timeline, but even so, nothing is said about their relationship. They simply live together with Barret, Marlene, and Denzel. Whether they started a relationship after AC is up to each individual to decide.
