I know this is a stupid question but if you compress this AGAIN does it still retain at least a good quality to watch too? The AV1 I mean...

Well... What I did was more or less just cut Bit Rate from ~50MB or so (at lest ~75% did have this much Bit Rate or so) to ~20MB AND re-encode it in AV1 10 bit (don't have better option with AV1 in hanbrake) container.

So we CAN cut Bit Rate to ~10MB, so video should be, more or less, not affected and drop from ~1,3GB to ~300MB? BUT I would do so with Originals and NOT alreday converted videos. Why? Just dunno if encoding it TWICE would be good and would not damage/not fuck with quality...

As I was more or less doing an mass encode first time, I just choose a safer bet aka bigger Bit Rate, so vids would look the same/will be similar as much as possible.

AV1 is really good BUT it takes a while to do one encode... Can do a conparsion encode with one vid at ~10MB Bit Rate, but will not with all of it, sorry. Why? 1. Would need to DL all vids again. 2. Encode them again with lower Bit Rate with would take days again. 3. Energy in EU ain't cheap...

Hell... If someone would give me money to buy a good PC to encode MMD to AV1, then why not?
But I don't sleep at pile of $$$, so will just do AV1 encode for myself AND UP them, if someone wants. Currently doing Moyuu but it will take a long while... One vid takes ~x2 time than those of Xiangweitudou, aka 1h for one vid and Moyuu have 300 of just +18. I won't even do normal ones, as that would be 600 vids to encode and it would take a month of non-stop converting... Don't wanna kill my laptop yet

All of them give out vids in H264 mostly. Hell, even H265 is rare as fuck and AV1? Didn't see one yet
BUT I don't check every single video, so some maybe do encode them in AV1? Dunno, didn't see myself yet

I use Handbrake, it's free and can do both encode by CPU or GPU/iGPU. Well, I myself just know the tip of ice bearg of what and how to encode xD

If you have a mobile CPU with 4 cores or normal one for PC or GPU/iGPU, then depending in what container you want to encode and what preset (fast/normal/quality), it would take different time and split out different results.
AV1 is most time consuming, but can cut most of weight and save quality at lower bit rates.

If you want to touch deeper settings, then searching forums/asking at anime/films sharing sites can answer some of it.

Sure H265 is great for space but it cost time to encode and it's not supported on most browser and even some platform like old android so content creator would still needs to provide H264 format. Said format they already have on hand since it's the standard format for most video online platform to host and compress.

No, it's not in English, unfortunately. The video this time had a story(subtitle) version and then a shorter version. The differential only had the shorter version. If anyone wants the shorter version for the base video, I can upload it. I've just been making my own subtitles for the videos.
