I would guess that what makes someone want to always go back to a game isn't just the experience, but the possibilities and situations.Hah, I think I would agree. Have not thought about reinstalling Honey Select, while I've reinstalled AA2 a few times over the years hah, just to let some scenarios play out (oh hey these two became lesbians, let's play as one of them!).
If there was a "most important thing," I do think it's "agency." The girl is not a mindless doll, and she can "decide" what she's doing (at least in your eyes). So this idea dies in a game where you choose someone and immediately do lewd things. It would maybe fall under "the user doesn't really knows what he wants." Some users don't really want "sex," they want to feel, like it means something.
And I'd guess, the Japanese are ahead on understanding / exploiting that, because they've had to deal with young men being alone for a while longer.
If we go just to normal games, the ones that I always tend to go back are, for example, strategy games like total war, games like the witcher and similar ones. Even skyrim is a good one to go back to!.
Basically games that you feel that there can happen a lot of different and interesting situations, not just keep being the same.
Artificial academy 2 is a good game in that aspect, even more players tend to use imagination to fill the places that need to be filled. For example right now after installing it again I have created many characters and 2 harem wannabe, one female that want to make a lesbian harem and a male that wants a girls harem for himself, even more I added them the rainbow cards to make it more interesting.
It's kind of funny but you can even indirectly choose the game difficulty just by giving the rainbow cards to characters like that and based on stats like virtue. In fact, you can actually prepare so many situations...
P.D: Related to adult games, I tend to go back to games such as Trials in tainted space (Tits), Lilith throne, corruption of champions... basically games with high replayability.
